  1. Dammit,I totally misunderstood your status update this morning. I saw Losi MT and thought of this http://www.modelsport.co.uk/losi-monster-truck-mtxl-rtr-white-/rc-car-products/401918 Rather than this little plastic fantastic, disappointed now
  2. Todays massive haul of a spark plug and Outerwears filter.
  3. Just done a very quick tot up of what has been spent so far and it is just over £1800 including the £600 I paid for the car. Not a lot I know compared to some but it does get scary and that is only including the major mechanical/electrical components and not the little bits that soon add up as well. Probably be close to £2k when finished and the potential resale value, about £600-£700 on a good day.
  4. Looks good but I couldn't have someone else build something for me unless it was TOTALLY beyond my own means. The build is the best bit for me
  5. If you have something like this in your car you have an old mechanical sped controller (MSC) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-Msc-Mechanical-Speed-Controller-With-Ceramic-Resistor-Heat-Sink-/222006934385?nma=true&si=C2iWgAbi4FKITOe5rXyNDJRlYhc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Couple of things can go "wrong" with these. There is a nut on top, that may have come loose, worth checking that first as it is a very simple fix. Also worth removing the top piece entirely to see how much dirt etc is on the contacts underneath, they might just need a wipe over or sanding down a bit to remove any rust or other contaminates. They do wear as it is a mechanical part and the contacts can spark which accelerates the wear, they used to sell some conductive lubricating gel to help with the wear and to stop to sparking. Also the travel of the servo can cause the top part to "wipe" past the contacts so basically you go past the point of contact so even though you are fully pulling the trigger the car will go full speed until you past the contact points and it will stop.
  6. Got a refund from MMR eventually after much going back and forth. They did offer me an alternative that I didn't want and 10% off my next purchase but I said no thanks to both Ordered from FP this morning,I ordered the regular Bartolone black silenced version but did say I would take the raw version if they didn't have the black version in stock, turns out they didn't have either in stock so I have to wait till next week now. So much for getting it up and running on my day off this Sunday, watch it be a nice day and then chuck it down the day the pipe arrives

  8. Charge it at a slower rate. Charging it at 3.3 amp is giving a false peak that is stopping the charge early. NIMH are not like lipo, you don't always charge them at the same rate as the capacity, try charging at 1 amp first and see how it goes. It will take a while but after that trying charging it at 1.5 amp next time. Eventually you will get to a point where you will start to get the false peaking again.
  9. If you do buy one buy the kit version, there are more metal bits in the kit version than in the RTR one.
  10. I bought 13,14 and 15T pinions to use in both the truggy and buggy but I don't remember which was in which I didn't use the 13T at all though.
  11. I would leave it plastic. Mine sounded so smooth with the plastic spur and metal pinion where as the T 3.0 with metal pinion and spur made the usual whining brushless noise
  12. Been watching these the last few weeks. Would probably buy one if it wasn't going to be expensive to get one to the UK I imagine it would be expensive anyway, might be wrong
  13. Losi 8ight 4.0 E. Hobbywing EZRUN MAX8-v3 ESC Tenshock 802v2 2200kv motor Nanda block tyres Haven't got it anymore though
  14. Assuming you didn't pay by Paypal gift open a case for it not being as described if the damage wasn't listed. evssv has done it twice recently although he did buy from ebay I believe rather than directly but if you paid by PP you are still covered.
  15. Did you go an pick it up,how did you pay for it?
  16. News feed? Was it a Facebook purchase by any chance?
  17. What a surprise (not) lot of excuses and no pipe coming any time soon as it is out of stock despite being for sale on ebay still. Would be nice to at least let me know rather than having to chase it myself. Obviously buying a pipe for a 5ive is a difficult thing
  18. Get both,I did although I didn't keep either after I bought the 5ive
  19. No I didn't,I was a bit lazy to be honest A friend smashed up the front of the 8ight T,the front gearbox case was cracked and I had the buggy ones already made up so I just changed the whole front and rear gearboxes rather than just replace the gearbox case itself. The pinion gear in the gearboxes on the 4.0 buggy have a "support" piece between the two bearings so that was a bonus even though that piece would have fitted into the original 3.0 gearboxes. I did get a noticeable increase in speed but it wasn't that dramatic and if anything the car was a bit under geared in the first place anyway. This accident is also how I ended up with 4.0 buggy uprights on the truggy as one of those got broke as well. The 4.0 series also has slightly bigger bearings than the 3.0 in both the front and rear uprights which is why I changed the rear uprights even though they weren't damaged.
  20. If I say "the wrong one" I will leave it to you to choose
  21. An exhaust has been bought although we will see if or when it turns up as stupudly I bought it from MMR. Had no confirmation of any kind to say what is going on or when I will receive it and although it should be today I am not planning on it arriving just yet.
