  1. Always use best fuels - I like Byrons 30% - better lubricants used. Engine life during storage and bearing life = better. More nitro % engine makes same power at cooler temps - or - stated another way - more power at max running temps. Shim the engine head appropriately
  2. PM me your email and I can send you pdf of the diff assembly instructions. Or google for the manual - its online as a PDF.
  3. Why cant the nitro chassis be converted to electric with the Hong Nor kit / bits for that process? Ive been propositioned by a guy to take 2 nitros and one already converted off his hands + some spares for $200USD - one is basically new. Both are Pro Kit rollers. Thoughts on converting the pro kits to brushless ? whats the hangup that the high end chassis wont accommodate etc ....
  4. I messed around for a bit with alternatives as well and finally settled on the real deal - use the hyper st pro mount. They are different - it and the 8's servo mount. http://www.nitrohouse.com/Servo-Mount-Hyper-8_p_6248.html http://www.nitrohouse.com/Hyper-Sprint-Parts_c_644-2-8.html Couldnt you trace your Hyper ST pro servo tray plate onto a sheet of plastic or a piece of carbon fiber and fashion your own out of it. A dremel and a drill. Or buy a spare plate and chop it.
  5. Hong Nor ditched OFNA actually. Bad move methinks - especially for me since they are right by my house :-)
  6. Nitrohouse.com here stateside is blowing these kits out. I know they ship globally - just not sure of the costs. http://www.nitrohouse.com/Ofna-X3-Sabre-20-18-Off-Road-Pro-RC-Buggy-Kit_p_6980.html
  7. Hobao Hyper ST Pro and other parts for replacement seem plentiful - its the new kits they always tend to cease production of after they done their run. Packaging boxes manuals adverts - assembly and all that. So spare parts are EZ $$$ for the mfg'rs. I suspect since we can get Hyper ST parts here in USA - should be jsut as easy in UK if not more so. Ebay also seems pretty flush with goodies. Truly the only big parts that might run out on a ST Pro - F/R shock towers - CNC Center Chassis braces On an ST - once you buy those its very very rare to need to get more - kinda bomb proof Then its mostly body posts, lower arms and CVD driveshafts. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hobao-hyper-st-truggy-rtr/rc-car-products/26445 the rtr may be a good fit - could learn how to get your nitro groove on with that. I always end up adding CNC parts, then real servos, then real tires/wheels/foams, then a real engine and pipe, That typically adds 1-2x the cost fo the rtr. Hence why I recommended a pre owned roller - so you could skip right to - adding the quality gear on there and rockin. You end up spending it anyways eventually :-) and since Im already geared up on electronics - I forget folks many times dont have the Tx/Rx gear for a pro kit. I think you can get a good deal on a spektrum Tx and some rx's and dump the rtr radio gear. Then do servos - steering first, then Throttle Brake
  8. Hes in the UK .. im the oddball here that isnt. Your side of the pond is where all the Hobao and Hong Nor luv is - hence Im a lurking usurper
  9. Forgive me ... thats a pretty good idea actually, but I forget you guys over there can still get those cars RTR ... we cannot [ to my knowledge ] Hence recommended a 2nd hand unit that had already been upgraded. Also his budget of $250 pound... wasnt aware he could get even an 80% kits for that over there
  10. $150 USD - roller no electrics or motor - http://www.nitrohouse.com/Ofna-X3-Sabre-20-18-Off-Road-Pro-RC-Buggy-Kit_p_6980.html I could grab one of these - drop a hong nor conversion kit in it and load up MY fav electronics and away we go ... interesting.
  11. Ive held one of those associated - actually it may have been the LOSI SCORR Buggy style vehicles ... plastic and 1/10th scale stuff - I just cant bring myself to run 1/10th scale gear - even my small scale stuff is essentially 1/8th shocks and cnc'd up for support ... the HYPER 10TT would be in that realm ... still saying go 1/8th
  12. Help me out here ... Hong Nor has a 1/8th scale SC ? Im a bit lost here. Sorry to be dense. and X3e converted to shortcourse style vehicle would be pretty sweet as well ... already exist? Clue me in my good man.
  13. Hyper 7 Shortcourse converted ... 1. Plentiful parts 2. Tough as nails 3. CHEAP! Id suspect hyper 7 replacement parts and gear on par with any quality 1/10th scale ... I have 1/10th / 1/12th 1/5th 1/7th and obvi - many 1/8th - I dont see enough price difference between my 1/10th size stuff to merit the performance and durability of a 1/8th basher buggy. Could run a Hyper 7 SC on a solid Castle system ...
  14. Chassis Kit only - rare. I was lucky to get the one I have - same with the Phantom and Blackbird - very few will / have been made. Magneto chassis was $225 shipped. Kris Poole on FB Page is the designer and mfg'r - https://www.facebook.com/groups/centralemaxxrc/

  16. Prolly ... 1. You dont need their kit and that metal plate is required to mount the battery tray - whereas a Losi 8 tray is a direct bolt on fit essentially and you lose the PLATE and its weight. 2. The hobao designed motor mount [ for the Hyper SSE ] - imho is a far superior design and allows for a larger array of pinion options.
  17. Sure - I'll do the Magneto BASHER build first. Its the furthest along for parts etc ... I'll do one on the DUH Blackbird Maxx 2nd most likely [ shes a rare shelf Queen ] The Ph@ntom runner last ... Lots of stuff here @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/centralemaxxrc/
  18. Got one of these on the way ... Yes! The Magneto will actually be built first ... This build is underway ...

  20. Hyper GTe specs SPECS: Length: 543mm / 21.4 in Width: 310mm / 12.5 in Height: 184mm / 7.25 in Wheelbase: 330mm / 13 in Ofna / Hing Nor Dm-1e Spec - specs: Specs: Length: 21.5 inches / 546mm Wheel Base: 12.75in / 324mm Width: 13.2 inch / 335mm Weight: 8.3 lbs / 3765g Hong Nor DM-1 1/7th Nitro | Hong Nor DM-1 Spec Nitro | Hobao Hyper ST Pro Truggy Hobao Hyper 7 +4mm / Hyper 7L Buggy chassis ...
  21. Damn! Hate that. Hope you got a few packs thru her first this time
  22. Also - you can see here how the guy built and converted it - doesnt look like an amateur job to me ... http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/topic/196143-one-more-st-brushless-conversion/
  23. Ayyyye - I see. Thanks for the info and correction. So buggy length it is - cheers.
  24. Well I wish you the best mate. I think that kit is a mistake - but you'll defo get that small price out of it - BASHING it around once you get Nitro Tuning figured out. Ive been down this road a few times, and got the battle scars and bloodied bank account to prove it ... like I posted earlier - low ball cheapo kits made from a lot of plastic jive is doing just what you stated - getting you lured in and started in hobby - and then you'll be online at hobbywings site refilling your cart with the cheap plastic parts and bits due to breakage etc ... its just like the analgy I gave earlier ... cheap entry printer for $15 - but then the ink cartridges last 3 weeks and cost $150. You are not going to be saving any money going the route youre taking. 1st to go will be the cheapo stock servos, then the radio will suck and glitch, then the cheapo Rx battery they provide, then the engine / clutch. After the stock factory glued tires delaminate - you'll be after a set of those. That Hyper ST Roller @ the price the guy is offering with the electronics - where the electronics - speedo and castle motor is worth more than that entire Sabertooth rtr kit - is by far a better option. $120 ESC $75-90 Castle Motor Could write a book about the many times Ive purchased rtr kits over the last 15 or so years and regretted it every time. As I mentioned I and several other folks here have a plethora of knowledge and experience with this ... Ive built from scratch and pieced together from kits and ebay and done Pro Kits etc ... for MANY Nitro and Electric vehicles. Just a few of my collection that are handy via pics ... obvi done this dance a few times ... Not theory. Wish that ST roller was stateside - Id grab it. In depth Hyper ST Pro build detailed here ... if your truly seeking info on truggies .... http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/topic/206471-hyper-st-pro-eshort-course-conversion-build-2015/
  25. I just picked up my first GT class car [ Im an offroad guy ] - the OFNA / Hong Nor DM1 Spec [ nitro and electric ] - both are in bits in a rather large box atm ... but I will compare the Hyper ST Pro Chassis length to the DM1 Spec and post up a pic. The Hong Nor GT X3 car and the Hobao GT car seem to be modeled after the "truggy" length chassis not buggy length - but I could be in error here. If thats the case Im not sure how the Hyper ST length chassis would violate. Will compare to the DM1 Pro 1/7th length chassis I have as well ... However as Im re reading your post above - and I defer to your experience and knowledge - as Im a total newb to this stuff - it appears GT is buggy length chassis - just no kickup in front? .... more to follow
