  1. Sometimes only a zip tie will do. These have been holding in the sway bar on the baja for about 8 months now.
  2. I waited 3 months for a spur gear for my maverick atom. I find it a bit of a joke that the spares aren’t just available, always. They’re hobby grade cars. Manufacturers should be on it. Had my mini maxx over 2 months now and still waiting a front skid to become available.
  3. I thought it was pretty tame compared to what I put it through in the past! I’ve already got some RPM front arms for it so hopefully £20 or so for some springs and shafts and she’s sorted. unless there’s an alternative? Arrma don’t seem to do a hop up shock for these 4s rigs.
  4. We were sending them at the bmx track. Big dirt jumps. I should have stopped after I noticed the front one had snapped but we’d only been out 5 mins. So I thought I’d try some speed runs on the grass but couldn’t control it properly and I hit a metal rail. Game over. Had fun watching my son with the senton though. First time he’s had decent go with a fast 1/10.
  5. Another breakage. 3rd one in as many outings. Snapped a front A-arm, 2 shock shafts and lost 2 springs on the Outcast. So that’s now on the bench with the baja and hyper. However the Senton has been out every one of those times and taken everything I’ve thrown at it. The front and rear bumpers have a break each but they’re still doing their job. Definitely my favourite car currently. At least my gps protector passed its first test on the outcast.
  6. Full electronics set up from my maverick atom inc Tx, Rx/esc, 380 motor with heatsink and servo with new servo arm as I butchered the old one to fit my new servo. This all had very little use before I converted to brushless. £20 posted. plastic shocks, cvd’s and diff outdrives. £6 posted.
  7. I’ve been trying to make a gps protector for a while now. Ive been struggling to come up with something compact and without any hardware required. Finally getting to design I’m happy with but this TPU filament is a bugger to print with.
  8. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/electric/models/off-road/buggy/rally/rock-racer/truggy/monster-truck/4wd/un-assembled-kit?&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=500 There are twice as many to choose from if you consider 2wd too.
  9. I won this as part of mystery box on hobbycomps but have no use for it. Brand new, literally turned this morning. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/fastrax-compact-hauler-bag-39975 £75 posted.
  10. Tbh I hadn’t even noticed the difference in wire gauge. It was more just a question on the connectors. I either run 2-3s in some cars or 4-6 in others. Hasn’t realised this motor would take 4s until the other day. I’ll just swap out the ESC connector to xt90 now. Don’t it will see 3s much now🙂
  11. Well I took it out before I read this. it didn’t blow up or catch on fire but I’ll sort something out if I’m going to run it 4s. Still only did 37mph which it does on 3s. Only now it does it whilst constantly on its backs wheels!
  12. I usually run my senton on 3s. I want to try it on 4s but they’ve all got xt90 rather than xt60. Is it a bad idea to use an adaptor like this? I guess it would be safer to have xt90’s on all my esc’s and step up to them from the 3s batteries. But will it be alright for a run or two?
  13. This any good? https://amzn.eu/d/7h1d8Q1 edit: cheaper here https://www.buyabattery.co.uk/binatone-terrain-550-battery-4-8v-600mah-aaa-nimh-gb411844.html or this maybe if you can find it in stock anywhere. Might be too big? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/voltz-hobby-engine-48v-800mah-battery-pack-w-mini-tamiya-plug-389162
  14. Made another ESC mount. This time for the hyper 7.
  15. The nitro idea is on the back burner for now. Think I need to thin the herd a bit first but can’t make up my mind.
  16. If I wind up with unused batteries I usually leave them for a few days, thinking I’ll go out again, before I discharge them. How long are you all prepared to leave them?
  17. I’m much the same. Can’t remember the last time I paid a tradesman to do anything for me. Apart from a plasterer, I’m crap at that! I do charge double for the first hour so if I’m jobbing around spending half the day in the van I still earn ok. I also price large jobs and markup materials so that’s where I make my money. As you said, rc repairs shouldn’t take longer than a couple of hours so every job is a ‘little’ job compared to what I’m doing. I guess most of that £40 is idiot tax. If you are into hobby grade rc’s you really should be working on them yourself!
  18. To me £40 an hour to fix, essentially toys, seems mad. I’m a plumber/gas engineer and I charge £40+VAT an hour. And people moan about that. I have to spend thousands every year on insurances, registrations, certification, equipment calibration, accountancy fees. I have to run a van, buy tools, clothing, consumables. Think I need to start an rc repair business instead!
  19. Am I the only one that quite likes the idea of working out how to put a box of bits together?
  20. £40 an hour! I’ll do it for £20ph if anyone’s interested 😀
  21. Another rainy day so been on the 3D printer again. This time to make an ESC mount for the Senton as the VHB tape wasn’t cutting it.
  22. As I get older I’m moving more from the ‘sell it’ camp to ‘keep it’. I suppose in the past I’ve always had a better use for the money. Nowadays I can afford to keep things and still buy the next thing I want.
  23. I assume those gpm diffs are still planetary? Just the bits you’ve bought with a metal housing? As apposed to the bevel gear Traxxas ones.
