  1. Looking like good progress. That motor looks like a decent upgrade in size. Planning on locking mine in low range I think, hoping that stops the servo space issue.
  2. Excellent, that means mine might not be a lost cause. Was hoping to get mine ready for holiday in Dorset (leaving Friday) but I don't want to do much without the paint finished. I'll just have to take something else (or two) instead. The Scout is reliably good fun. Edit: Parcel that arrived today was a camera cable I had ordered from Amazon, which means the red card yesterday might be my gearbox...
  3. I think this is an alu spur for it : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/82T-Aluminum-Spur-Gear-for-Turnigy-Kyosho-1-10-Desert-Racing-Buggy-Ultima-series/131648520363?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 The Kyosho Ultima something (RB6?) is the same thing if you are looking for a second source of parts. I've only killed one spur and I was rock crawling with it with the slipper tightened right up so wasn't surprised. Set the slipper correctly and don't do full throttle landings and it should last. I also killed a diff (just goes tight and clicky when assembled.. can't find why) but as parts are so cheap and the handling is so good I find it great fun to drive. I just need to work out why the Xcelorin system in the second one refuses to pull away at any pace, even on 3S.
  4. Went to LHS and they were out of the Tamiya paint I need a fraction of a tin to finish WPL top coat. They'll restock in the next week or so... which is a pain. They charge standard rate (£5.99) and it's very local so will wait and support them. Instead I keyed the rear bed, roll bar, side steps and front bumper and painted them with Lidl black under body protection paint. I really like the finish. I might have to redo the chassis rails with it as I didn't prime or key them and the matt black is flaking in a few places.
  5. Well, that's a pain. Makes you wonder what model these parts were really made for... I guess time to either drill out the prop or machine down the input shaft. I fitted the motor to mine.. makes a huge difference. Plenty of torque, reverse works fine. Here is a comparison: and the specs from the new one: My only worry is the 2.4V bit!! Guessing 2480V is the RPM/V which is a bit lower than the usual 180 spec. Edit : 12000rpm @ 6V are easy to get = 2000 RPM/V
  6. Will let you know once I get it built.. or if I shove it in the other one. I'll try and get a pic of the motor as you can probably buy them for pennies. Currently mucking around with paint on mine.
  7. Did a coat of Tamiya dark yellow on the WPL body. Now I need another can to finish.. which means the paint on the body is soon going to cost more than the whole model did.
  8. When I tried to remove the existing shaft from the input to the pumpkin the axle came out of the input gear instead.. the prop seemed very well attached, I'd guess glued. I tried a bit at the gear box end but didn't want to risk breaking anything. I was going to hold out for the two speed and fit the new shafts to that. I do have the kit version to play with now though.
  9. Let me know if you work out how to change the prop shafts...
  10. Not tempted to use the long bed and go for a super LWB unique setup? Anyway, super looking forward to this build.
  11. The motor on the kit one is a fair bit bigger and the tires are much softer. The wheels look a much better moulding too. My 2 speed still hasn't turned up (still within eBay delivery range) I now can't decide if I should build the C14 with all the good bits for crawling and the C24 with the leftovers for trailing... need another ESC too, considering a larger one (1060).
  12. I followed a link to a torch on gearbest and ended up adding things: Hopefully there is a C24 kit inside.
  13. Last day at this job!  New one Monday.

Thanks, the server stuff is much more interesting and what I've been missing .  I'm going to have to get up to speed quick as 3 years on site with minimal server access has left me rusty.  I won't miss password resets and feeding toner to printers!

i know exactly what you mean. my advice is (assuming windows) is powershell learn to script in powershell. i started by trying to do things i normally do through the gui and learning to do those in powershell then i started writing scripts to automate those tasks. now i more or less just live in a powershell window lol

I need to wrap my head around Powershell.  I've done some odd bits on an Exchange server, but mostly copy and paste and tweak a bit!  I've been scripting with .bat vbs and Python for years, so just need to adapt.  I've probably got an eBook on it from some Humble bundle somewhere...

  14. A 10 Euto FSA compression ring for a headset which I no longer need... into the spares box it goes!
  15. Sanded down and started painting the WPL C14 body. Charged a 2S and wheelied the Turnigy Desert Truck up and down the alley between coats. Tried drifting it.. which either resulted in a really nice drift or it snapped back into grip and charging straight ahead. Loads of fun.
  16. Sorry, focus is all over the place... Stock 64mm end to end, Alloy 39.5mm Stock travel 64-51=13mm, Alloy 39.5-33=6.5mm So they are considerably shorter and have about half the travel. On the plus side for me I think they may bolt straight on the Outback mini.
  17. My shocks arrived.. it comes with mounting hardware including some ball end bolts for the rod ends, but yet to figure out a way to attached them to the axle! I might see if the stock rod ends with the hole right through will fit. I changed to springs to the soft ones (silver) and the oil in them to 60wt which gave some damping, but they are a bit leaky at the top. More experimentation required, but garage is too hot to be in for long. I've not tried the upgraded drive shafts yet as waiting for the two speed to arrive...
  18. Teeny tiny shocks and metal driveshafts for the WPL C14 and some Hobbywing UBECs to try powering a Raspberry Pi with from my solar battery.

I want a C24 but not having much luck with the C12 at the moment so it will have to wait

  20. Good Tamiya colour for a tan Hilux? Thinking of painting the WPL.

And it's not tan!  I'm after a colour to roughly match the stock plastic.  Think may have it sorted though.

  21. Rebuild front of bike, compression ring for headset missing.  Was really careful when pulled apart so must have been missing since got bike (wouldn't be a surprise). Rare old part but find one in  Germany and order.  10 minutes later find it on the floor.

      That...well...that's life :)

My problem after a rebuild is usually the small pile of nuts, bolts and washers plus spacers, rubber grommets and such that seem to be left over. Wonder where they went.....

      Sounds right lol.

  22. I probably have the missing bits if you are after them from my TA02 axle crawler thing. Drop me a PM.
  23. Those are rather cool. Do the grubs screws go right through the stub axle bolt holdy thingy?
  24. My serviced / repaired Manitou Sherman Breakout fork for the downhill bike. Looking forward to playing on the bouncy bike again.
  25. Apologies it might be for the "ECO" 50A version : Link or Abismas page : Link The one you pictured is the older 80A one.
