  1. this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-radio-controlled-car-/281748892292?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item41998aea84
  2. Only 80kg so can be turned right way up by one person. I like it. Wonder of asiatees will do hopups?

    done!

link? I'd want to experiment with the different types of plastic. They all have different properties. some might be better as skid plates, where other plastics might function better as a bumper. They will behave differenlty with different thickness too - 3mm might be too much or too little depending on the car. interesting to see the results of the first bash. Sure your boy will find the weaknesses...

Nice. I can see lots of copying if they work well. Which plastic did you use?
  5. Well 20 minutes is not instant is it? Instant, or real time, is sub second. 20 minutes is still a delay between sending and receiving banks. A delay that used to be considerably longer before banking sector widely IT changes were made.
  6. no it is not. Depends on which systems the banks are using. Faster payments system is not instant. What is probably instant is that it *appears* to have left your account instantly. Doesn't mean it has hit the target account straight away.
  7. truck doesn't look as clean as this any more... first run on 6S
  8. +1 on that. 1/8th buggies are made from as close to "unobtanium" as you will find... i.e. their size makes them big enough to have really strong components relative to their weight and take a decent motor/battery... but they are still small and light enough.
  9. I was more surprised at the pictures of RC on the end of a bed plus roll up. Cigarettes and RC in the bedroom. my wife would neuter me.
  10. not seen that either. you haven't got anything to lose by cycling them and seeing what happens.
  11. I have Team C T8E ? or the ansmann x8e ? Takes 2 x 2S lipo in saddle configuration. and up to approx 74mm motor.
  12. mt4 g3 is same diffs as the older st-1... so lets see: RC8, ST-1, mt4 g3, eb4 g3... mta is same diff case but straight cut gears not helical cut. and I bet the new models diffs are the same. so how many other cross over parts are there between the models ? how much does the rc8t resemble the st-1 or the mt4 g3? how much do the arms/ knuckles on the buggies match?> I know the older eb4 and rc8 knuckles look identical to me: the eb4 g3, st-1 and mt4 g3 are the same. if the diffs and diff cases are the same would all the bling for the factory team fit the TT versions too?
  13. I'm surprised there aren't more people running these. I have one to strip down and rebuild, and a bunch of parts. Just haven't got round to doing it yet. It's a nitro version. Looks built like a tank. I have a few of the thunder tiger trucks too - the diff cases for the RC8 were a direct fit for the MTA. Probably for ST-1, EB4 etc. maybe there should be a combined associated/thunder tiger thread...
  14. and that sentence right there is the slippery slope my friend... In your shoes I'd get two a firestorm - the smaller size will just make everything easier. Smaller, lighter, cheaper lipos, battery charger, tools etc. fully loaded firestorm plus kit for a bash will be what, say 5kg? Same for a 1/8th buggy will be 10kg+ and twice the volume. That must matter if you are wheel chair bound. You have a different set of logistics to consider than the rest of us. then get a kit for the time spent making it. The tinkering is very satisfying. Both models should stay "right side up" more often than not. and fast tourers can be insanely fast. Genuinely terrifyingly quick is relatively easy with brushless for a small sum of money at 1/10th scale. 50 mph in a 1/10th in a large car park will make the car park feel small very, very quickly. Take a 3kg 4wd tourer with a 500 - 750 w motor. that is 2/3rd to 1 h.p. or between 200-350 bhp per tonne.
  15. My first hobby RC was a maverick strada XB evo, the brushed one. It came with 1800 NiMH battery. I ran the car on a 5000 NiMH as recommended by the shop i bought from. Much more lively. The brushed motor is not great quality and went bang pretty quickly. Watch temperature or you will cook it. Now... Next car. How mobile are you? Do you bash with someone and how much kit can you carry? There is what is known as the "walk of shame"... The walk you take to turn your car the right way up after collision, failed jump, grip roll etc... Always seems to happen when the car is furthest away from you...and the bigger the scale, the faster and more enthusiastic the driving, faster the speeds, and perhaps greater chance car spends time on roof... My brushless monster is always on its roof... Either rolling over on the corner, wheelie onto roof, or endo from strong braking... While 1/8th buggy and truggy are much, much more stable. Truggy can be very hard to dlip in the corners as they are so wide and low centre of gravity. So... Given wheelchair I would: - totally discount any nitro on safety, quantity of gear to carry and hazardous fuel - go for electric - go low cog, fast and stable - go no bigger than 1/8 buggy So something like - firestrom for 1/10th - maybe the Hong nor sabre - or wild card... Go fast touring car for car park bashing. Speed gives the thrills, easy access just drive up and play... And you could go tamiya TT kit form and have the fun of the build.
  16. Doesn't need over gearing to cause the problem. Drive round the woods and get the drivetrains locked up with a branch or perhaps pebbles in the wheels can cause the same thing. My point is more that it is more fluid than you imagine. A 150a ESC can let peak loads through that are higher than that.
  17. It is the motor that causes the load on ESC and from there to battery. The rating is what they are rated to, not what they will limit current to. Pick a motor and gearing that causes excess current on the ESC and you risk the magic smoke coming out...
  18. We had two of these engines 30 years ago... My dad built a lovely twin engined mosquito to put them on. No radio, just free flight... On the maiden powered flight one engine would not start... He flew it anyway..crashed and broke it. Turns out he had put the fuel valve the wrong way round in one engine so it would never start. Rebuilt it was fine. Had loads of fun with them. We built two swamp boats out of balsa with the engines at the back. Let them go free on the local pond. Love to have one again. Radio gear is so much cheaper. A stearable swamp boat would be easy. Basically a sheet of balsa with some sides and add paint
  19. I'd say have faith in physics and maths... final drive ratio is all that counts surely? and there are many ways to achieve that final drive ratio. All different spurs do is constrain the choice of pinion based on what is possible with the motor mount.
  20. paid for and sent . please close
  21. I have a 2000kv 4082 leopard if interested
  22. First "proper" RC I ever bought... but it is sat on a shelf after moving to more expensive and larger scales. Asking
  23. awesome. blah blah safety... blah there are plenty of places where that would be fine to use. canoe, surf, mountains, etc however... am I the only one thinking about the terminator series of films and this...
