  1. Just ordered a zx6.6 for £220 from Modelsport. Great price for a car that cost over £400 not long ago. I assume in clearance as it may be replaced soon, but still doesn't detract from that price.

      .AJ.

I saw that, what a bargain!

  2. Bought two preprinted touring car shells, one Tamiya and the other a killer body that cost about half the price. Both Lancer X’s. Honestly think the killer body is better in looks and seems to be a thicker plastic.

    1. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

The Tamiya one will be Lexan ( polycarbonate ) and it's possible hte other is clear ABS. Cheaper but not as strong. Would explain why it was thicker. Might also just be Tamiya charging a fortune for stuff...I mean...impossible really...but...

  3. Just a little bit of grass from today's  run ?GjUyrk9.jpg

Could of went up in flames with how dry the grass is ? Would of  made for a good show though ?

  4. How does wheel offset get calculated? If I get a pair of wheels with a 3mm offset for my TC is that +3mm on each wheel for a 6mm total, or 1.5mm each side for a total of 3mm?

    1. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

99.9% sure it's 3mm each, the only reason I'm not 100% is I've never really measured it for touring cars and it might be different, but I know for every other vehicle it'd be a total of 6mm.

Cheers OHO. I always thought the same, just went to buy myself a set and started doubting myself lol.

    3. heavyleftthumb

      heavyleftthumb

      yes defo +3mm each side.

0 offset is the middle of the wheel. +offset shoves the wheels out, more dish.

  5. Waterproofing my TT02 rally car apparently wasn't necessary, this dry spell has been crazy.

  6. I believe its a Kyosho 1/8 Hummer H1. Built up from a weekly magazine. Not actually a bad scale model, but spare support is going to be tricky, and an electric conversion probably won't be possible unless it shares a centre diff assembly with other kyosho cars.
  7. Can anyone recommend a complete FPV setup that may suit a car rather than a plane\quad?

Preferably with a screen rather than a headset. It's for my uncle and he's not keen on the headset idea.

  8. Who should cover paypal fees? Should the buyer add the cost to the payment or should the seller take the hit? Never used paypal outside of Ebay.

I agree, I was just curious about your personal take on it from what you said.

While I think it should be for the buyer to pay, as it's buyer protection, not seller protection, pretty much all my adverts just include it anyway

    3. Fly In My Soup

      Fly In My Soup

Paypal fees are like 5% so as its the sellers payment terms, they should be covered by seller.

P.s the reason you can't usually pay by bank transfer as its not as safe as PayPal.

Theres been many variated scams involving bank transfers, most usually involve the seller taking payment for goods and never sending them, or a buyer asking to pay by bank transfer and claiming the never received goods.

Those in doubt google if you're protected by paying by bank transfer

Paypal is the best option at present

    4. RCbutcher

      RCbutcher

Yeah its paypal or cash on collection with me. I dont like to hear fees on top. But i pay them once asked but would rather ignor that factor of a price lol.

Totally agree on the buyer paying to buy from paypal extra protection. And paypal always comes good even 12wks later lol. Damn wardrobe.

So its just one of them.

  10. How do you pronounce Tamiya? Sorry for the double status but I heard someone pronounce it completely different from the way I do today and it's thrown me .

      Lmao....that's funny db.

So the backplate itself is stuck to the crank casing? Someone may have used sealant??? Either that or its press welded itself on due to running too hot?

Pics??? I want to see it in all its vintage glory

    3. danny boy

      danny boy

Nothing too exciting I'm afraid. This is the only picture I have of it, an OS max 25 fsr I think, just like the one in this article. You can see the flywheel pull start system pointing towards the sky because the motor mounts rotated backwards. Even has a ducted cooling fan inside that once clear piece of plastic

    4. Fly In My Soup

      Fly In My Soup

I know which ones you mean now.

Irvine and enya also made similar models of engine, you can use a rc plane starter to fire them up

Hirobo etc etc used them in the 80s

If you get really stuck, strip it down an bung it in some fresh nitro fuel for a day.

  12. I ordered from RCjaz the other day. Had an email today saying the item has since sold out, and I can either "Have other items for replacement" or "Receive a voucher code storing the identical value". Nothing about getting a refund however, which I'd much prefer. Does anyone know if I went for the voucher if I'd get the postage cost back also?

    1. spents

      spents

email em straight back and just tell em you want a full refund including postage mate,

they broke a contract with you so they have to refund you,

the voucher or offer of different products to the same value is just them trying it on so they still get your money ,

    2. .AJ.

      .AJ.

RC Mart tried that with me, I told them to refund the money or I would start a PP dispute, they refunded me straight away

Start Paypal claim give it 24hours then escalate the claim ya will soon get you your money back..

  13. Is there any touring car tyres aimed at astroturf tracks? Kinda like rally blocks but they're too chunky.

  14. Looks like I've ordered off one of those "UK based" eBay sellers who actually ship from China and fail to mention that in the listing. I don't see how that can't be classed as a scam. I wanted to support a UK seller, not a Chinese company pretending to be from Sheffield.

For future reference if you click on their feedback score and go to their feedback page it will tell you at the top "Member since **** based in China". Or u.k. if they are actually here. The only place really where you get the truth. Never says it in the listings or under the price, gits!!.

    3. Fly In My Soup

      Fly In My Soup

A lot of Chinese sellers are setting up stock hubs over here in UK.

They carry 50% of the stock they have back in China, usually the most popular selling items, that way thee can dispatched them to you quicker but avoid paying the tax on the sale, keeping costs down.

Its lose lose for UK ditributors

  16. What are IT services worth? Removing viruses, installing software and things like that. I work a job in IT as an onsite networking engineer. Now everyone I know seems to expect IT services off me free of charge in my own time just because I know how. Starting to really bug me now. A few favors for family and friends I don't mind, but this is like having a second, unpaid job I didn't want or ask for.

    1. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

Depends on the job, easy work about £25/hr, harder stuff like hardware installation etc... Up to £50/hr.

Or you can have set fees for stuff, such as a fresh Windows install for say £30, because it takes a while but it's not really a hard job, just a bit tedious.

Few beer tokens in your back burner though for the odd job of an evening :D

Friends and family, free unless they really are taking the p**s with what they're asking or the frequency of. Anyone else, flat rate of £40/hr is what I charge.

I gave up and just told people I don't do private work.  After you've cleared the virus and spyware of the same machine for the fifth time and they still won't monitor the kids on the dodgy sites it's not even worth the money from those who do pay.

Also if you build a computer for anyone or upgrade one they will expect you to provide free lifetime support for it...

I know of a local company they does home call out, doesn't charge the earth and actually sorts stuff, so I direct people who ask to them.

  17. +1 on the Sealey 100w. Recommended to me buy this forum a while back and it's been great for any kind of application so far.
  18. Anyone know where I could buy a maverick atom? I know it's a long shot but it was the first car I ever had and I kinda miss it now.

  19. Trying to build an Orlandoo Jeep kit. This is the opposite of a relaxing build experience.

  20. Cant believe I've been on the forum 8 years now, didn't realise I had been RC'ing for that long

Your going to need a high gain setup to achieve the range you need, and chase car, harder than it sounds if your in UK.

  23. This plane is for sale locally at £65. I know it's a de Havilland Puss Moth but not sure if this scratch built or a kit available to buy. Anyone know?

  24. I live close to the post code they have listed on their site. I couldn’t help but notice that it is a farm and not a hobby shop. They sell eggs for £1.50. Not Rc cars.
  25. Yeah I think tl01 on the right and m04 on the left?
