Nice one. The lower fairing on the RGV is a better fit than the one on the Honda, which I found needed to be secured with a rubber band as it tended to come adrift.

I've still got my Suzuki RGV which I bought in 1999. I've not long sold the Honda NSR I got a couple of years later, very nice bikes and fun to build. I think they do still make them as they are available new in at least the US and Aus, but nobody imports them here anymore.

So have I on the cars, but the bike has a combined Receiver/ESC unit that I think was made especially for these bikes. I've no idea if you can get a suitable replacement of that size.

I've spent the best part of this month trying to figure out why my Kyosho Suzuki RGV won't respond to the transmitter despite giving a little cough when I connect the battery. It worked fine when I last used it, albeit that was nearly a decade ago. Checked every connection ten times over, re-routed the wiring in case it was fouling somewhere, no joy. Right ho then, only option left is to start taking the thing to bits, commencing with the battery tray. First thing I notice when it comes off, no crystal in the receiver... :whistling:

My first was a Grasshopper back in the mid eithties (Wish I'd kept it). Second was Tom's Toyota 1/12th scale (I really really wish I'd kept it).

I've just bought a Pulse ex2 Sport radio system. I find the wheel steering much easier to use than the stick I've always used and I am going to convert one of my other cars too. I would assume that the binding widget that came with the Pulse transmitter will marry another receiver to the same transmitter?

I'm only a casual R/C car user, but I do like building the kits and it's been some time since my last one. I can strip the electrics out of one of my older Tamiya models so all I'd need in addition is a ball race kit.

A set of oil filled shocks for my Fighter Buggy to replace the crappy standard items.

Just come across this old thread. I've got a Fighter Buggy Mrs SJ bought me for Xmas sometime in the 90's (along with a couple of road cars and Kyosho bikes). I did think of a new buggy but decided to upgrade this instead (I don't compete, just use it for my own amusement) It was fully ballraced and fitted with an ESC years back, I've just ordered the shocks recommended by XV Pilot on ebay, should be here by the weekend and I'm going to replace the stock 380 motor with a 540. Being a basic Tamiya the steering is a bit wooly and I'd like to improve it, any ideas on what upgrade parts I should buy and fit? Links to suitable stuff if poss please. Also, can you get a lexan body that will fit? Ta for reading,

Don't knock Tamiya. They are responsible for getting a lot of people into the hobby with affordable easy to build kits. If it wasn't for them the numbers participating would be a lot less and many of the small scale specialist outfits probably wouldn't exist.

I've seen these recommended here many times, but when I click the link to the UK division all the prices still come up in dollars. Their prices seem rather keen, but do they actually send from the UK or is there VAT and import duty to add?

These part work publishers are quite clever. Only the first 4 or 5 issues are supplied to newsagents on a sale or return basis. After that the whole series has to be ordered and paid by direct debit so you can't cherry pick any bits you want from a single issue. For example the afore mentioned Subaru had one pair of wheels and tyres in issue one but there was no way they'd include the second pair with an un-ordered copy to prevent anyone just getting some cheap wheels and tyres. A clever idea from the publishers point of view, but if you want an F1 car just go to Tamiya and get one plus all the hop-ups you need for a fraction of the price.

ANY part work model will cost about twice the shop price, sometimes more. If you want to spread the cost it would make far more sense to get a bank loan or buy with a credit card.

As an example, I have two Kyosho bikes but I would have had that one at the price they were offering. Click on any of their products, cars, planes etc and the same message comes up when you try to add to your basket.
