Thought I’d make a start on the rally budget build ( great idea Cuiken), Let’s hope the HPI will turn out to be a great rally chassis 😁 My only real concern with this kit (other than the price which has wiped out nearly two thirds of the budget) is whether or not you can squeeze out enough ground clearance from the stock 55mm shocks, I don’t have any spare 60-65mm shocks laying about so it would mean I’d have to dip into the budget early on. Anyway I’ve unboxed it and gave it a good look over then proceeded to check the diffs for grease etc You can already see that the chassis sits super low, obviously set up for on-road driving so will need to explore all of the shock adjustments available. Happy to say the diffs where well greased from the factory and overall quality of the kit feels very decent for the price 👍🏻

Technically outside of the rules for this budget build but forgetting that for the min, it does looks in decent nic from the pics. I can see it needs a spur gear, possibly the cover and an rx lid, if the leccys are working then that’s a good price for a Traxxas rally, the cheapest one I’ve seen by far👍🏻

Only had a quick look but so far seems a good quality chassis although it doesn’t have any turnbuckles.If I can get away with using the stock shocks for rallying it should be a cheap-ish build .

Yeah it was the sealed driveline that persuaded me to go for one 👍🏻 They came back in stock a few weeks back, hopefully they stay in stock this time.

yeah thought I’d try one out 👍🏻 I almost went with an FTX Banzai but changed my mind at the last min, might still pick a used one up later. It’s a prebuilt chassis but I’ll be stripping the diffs and and checking over etc before I start on it . How ya getting on with ya XV?

I’ve got a feeling I’m gunna use every penny of the budget 😂 Ended up going for the HPI that’s just arrived , got the next 4 days off as well 😁 So I’m already £124 into the budget but I do already have a few esc’s, motors and radio gear in me spares

Nice choice….I think, still haven’t ran mine yet 😁 but I know it’ll be good . I need to get my behind in gear and get something bought I’ve been too busy with rally body’s lately.

Yeah bit sloppy by Carisma, It’s only £26 for the inner fender set! Would of been nice for them to of been included even if it put a few quid extra on the price tag, then something as simple as a bit of black tape on the inside of the body to cover over the reverse light would tidy that up .
