  1. Spending time with family, enjoying good times, watching my nieces get all excited with opening presents. None of my family have a clue about rc lol, so for me it's sort your own pressie if you want something remotely related to rc. Still feeling that nostalgia so a RC10 worlds kit brought from amain black friday sale at
  2. ^^^ that's epic. Is it an rc as it looks like a static model. Again just epic.
  3. ^^^ 2nd that, decisions to be made now. Google like mad is what I say Always interesting to see what designs people like on their shells. Scale, sponsorship decals, retro, just stickers, wrap, box art or really left field like my shells lol. There's no wrong way really.
  4. Looking very nice mate, needs a show shell as well, just because it's a beautiful buggy
  5. thanks, I will be running the tekin rs gen 2 in it. Ordered the hotwire and cable as i will need it for my rx8 gen 2 as well. just deciding on motor b4 i pull the trigger. Some folks are running 8.5t or 9.5t on the tamiya club forum, majority are on the shelf though. Defo going to run this and some vintage racing would be good, cheers Jony for the advice, 10.5t should be plenty plus I don't fancy melted gears or blown ball diffs.
  6. Thanks matey. Yep the Tamiya Egress. Iconic rc and personally I have wanted one since 11 and now after all these years I have one to use and run Got some plans, hop ups are in, just got to pull the trigger on esc/motor combo. The only other rc that I want is a yokomo super dogfighter works 93. i would even pay for a vintage new in box if i could find one. All other projects are on hold lol, I can't even look at anything else or think about anything else.
  7. Cheers Jony, any specific reason matey.
  8. Came Friday and I just can't wait to build this, just got to decide 9.5t or 10.5t brushless motor.
  9. Yep as above they are timing marks on the motor. The 11 turn motor will certainly make your lunchbox shift or wheely on demand! They came with a standard mabuchi 540 if i remember correctly so yeah a lot more power. They look pretty clean as you say, but i would clean up with electrical cleaner. make sure your brushes look good and the armature of the motor, may need to be cut for better contact with brushes again, so you gain the performance back of the motor. Ebay best place for brushes etc I have some nice vintage motors, they still run perfect. You just have to bear in mind motor/esc/batt technology has moved on loads and really the brushless setup will be your most efficient setup.
  10. They ruined a top spec radio, what is so wrong with the original apart from the price tag. But whatever floats your boat I suppose
  11. ahh the big bear datsun, just about remember them Also sorry for thread hijack, i will start a new thread in this section for a good discussion on the subject of vintage/collectebiles/nostalgia soon.
  12. Rescued my old tamiya ta01 from my mums loft last week. Escort cossie shell has no cracks result, but its black no stickers.
  13. I think its great the forum has a vintage section and for me personally true vintage and the re releases together is not a problem. "Nostalgia" for me better sums it all up for me and why not. Re live those rc dreams, not the nightmares lol. I recommend this to any one with a passion for RC. I have recently been in my mums loft as she kept some of my childhood stuff. I managed to find my tamiya ta01 chassis escort cosworth, shells in not bad nick. From that I rescued my vintage tekin pro esc and a tamiya acto power touring special motor. Sadly my dad quite a few years ago got rid of a one particular box, so my mum told me. This was my treasure hunt as I scrimped, saved, studied hard as it always managed to ease my dads wallet and finally after a year or so I managed to get the money together for a tamiya avante. The technigold motor is lost as well, plus my futuba 112b esc, oh and a reedy pink dot. I would have restored it but I remember its short comings of technically brilliant in design, but to heavy, lots of understeer from wide front tyres. Its why I put a reedy pink dot in it, but it was power hungry, fun for 4-5mins and then I got a nice tekin esc for my b'day and thats the one I have and ran it for a while here. Nib prices of the avante are pretty eye watering just look on ebay. The modelshops where I grew up, I can't even remember seeing an egress in the flesh, just talk about it, loads of hype. I remember asking about the longer length chassis and gasping at the expense again plus really deep inside I wanted the kit in all its glory but no monies and my dad had enough of helping me out with the expense of repairs and rc prices. The egress was
  14. Looking really nice, and looking forward to seeing your painted shell on it Lovely paint always looks trick.
  15. Like you I have collected all the parts I would want except for my lipos, it's gonna be SMC I think. Following your build for tips matey, mine will be built next year as I have some 5th scale stuff to finish 1st. I am a bit stop/start, love building them but then can't be bothered lol. Saying that feeling nostalgic, I purchased a nib egress of eBay yesterday, as I could not afford one when younger and that just may motivate me now
  16. nice hopups, gonna be a very nice buggy.
  17. I have gone with a xpert rc 4531 servo on steering for my 3.0 T. Quality is really nice and will see how it performs when running the losi.
  18. I have had a break since my last build the 5b but I feel like opening the door to my man cave now. Losi 3.0 Truggy with some hopups to build. Just ordered myself a Tamiya Egress nostalgic reasons, I always lusted after one and could never afford it back then. Then some 5th scale love for my other Losi and another 5th scale project has sneaked in lol. It's time to start building
  19. Yep the losi 5T was a home run, fantastic 5th scale RC. Red springs all round and shock oil 35w-40wt depending on how you like it, diff oil setup makes a big difference as well and you can get more rear rotation of truck with tfe toe braces. As you know, hopups are endless lol. Have fun matey and come to bhbf next year.
  20. Sorry matey no, I have all the bits now except lipos. Tbh I have not wrenched on anything since building my 5b & bhbf, just tidied up the man cave a bit and put some shelves up that's it. I will have it built up at some point

    Axial Yeti..

Can the yeti do the rock crawling as well. Never had an axial rc and I can see this being the 1st one, really like it
  22. Mike got in touch and sorted will use the monster mount Will see how it goes on 4s as really I want to use it on track and should be plenty. Yeah jony, smc are getting good reviews and will have a look again at specs & price, still need to order lipos. It's gonna be left for a while, so will monitor the e truggy scene, new sworkz 350T looks nice as well. The 8T 3.0 has been getting really good reviews by users so I reckon it will be ok. When I was into touring cars a good few years back used my cousins hudy setup system and liked it, know what you mean though it's not cheap.
  23. Thankyou to everybody who has commented and helped me out, very much appreciated. My last build thread in 1/8 scale is my full platinum rc carbon savage flux in 2010 so it's a nice change to wrench on something smaller. That flux am planning a little update with new truggy type shell and build this rig up, sort of a matching pair. Would have liked more input as I see from other threads, there's more of you with the knowledge I have spent most of the weekend glued to reading threads and buying lol. Will be a while b4 I build it as everything needs to come in and I have something else that needs building up and tbh this truggy was a very early Christmas present. Final Spec list will be as follows for my 8ight T 3.0, Losi conversion kit. Tekin Rx8 gen2, T8 2250kv truggy motor. Xpert RC steering servo. AMB hybrid transponder. TLR top plate, chassis braces, lightweight drive axles, rear hubs, centre diff, diff shaft set. TLR +1mm wheel hex set. TLR servo horn. Lunsford Racing titanium turnbuckles, hinge pins, shock standoffs, kingpins. Metal 45T spur, fr & rr spring packs. Losi 8ight 2.0 e bodyshell, no nitro cutouts. De racing mudguards and skid plates. Also looking into getting the RC monster mount just need to find a way of getting it over here, they don't ship here for some reason. Still looking at tekno mount as well just need to figure out if it fits the original losi chassis. Going to order aka wheels/tyres and also lipo wise, looking at Promatch Racing 4s 6500mah 70c lipos. Fulfilled my charging needs for everything as my Team Orion touch duo charger arrived last month. Could not find the limited edition Hudy 1/8 off-road setup system here so that's on route, an indulgence again, but it's got to be setup correctly, that's what I tell myself lol. Will post it up when it's finished and then an outing for some track time
  24. Was in the same position, chose a losi 8ight 3.0 T to convert to brushless.
