  1. wasn't sure what i wanted but i ended up with a blade mcpx and had fun crashing it, although i have been hammering phoenix a bit now so i might stop crashing it
  2. nope i got a recent flash player 11 update for my phone as did my dads htc desire recently, their still up for mobile flash theres problems with ice cream sandwich getting flash but that will be fixed soon while im on 2.5 ginger bread and ice cream sandwich is version 4.0, flash is still strong for android
  3. is it just me or are apple fanboys hilarious? <-- goes back to my galaxy s with 40 gig but build quality is worth the extra 500 pounds erm no i can do better build quality with better quality cheaper parts my self lol my old pc's and current ones dont have problems, they just work i wonder how people that buy apple computers would feel about foxxcon and their practice's and how cheap they are compared to the price tag apple slap on them, seriously dont get me started lol any thing foxconn does not get near my computers
  4. that is what gets my back up, i could of bought a iphone 4 for cheaper than my samsung galaxy s (pay as you go unlocked) but why would i buy a device that is inferior for screen quality, battery life and raw power plus unlocked so i can do what i want with the device, if i wanted to be restricted i would of bought the iphone 4 for cheaper. yet i cant afford it? nice marketing top notch that apple does no arguements there, cept their flogging inferior hardware with the os locked out and any one that doesnt buy into it like me and goes with android gets the response of you cant afford it cept my android phone was more expensive and does a lot more...... thats marketing for yous with the dolphin hd browser on my phone set to desk top mode, i see no difference between my gaming computer (quad core 3.2ghz 8 gig ddr3 5850 1 gig ddr5) and my phone for general browsing and watching streaming videos on web sites with the full flash player 11 on my phone, yet i picked my phone because i couldnt afford an iphone 4 and yet my galaxy s cost more, im failing to see the logic, especially when im not playing pc games i just whip out my phone and read forums etc or stream videos from flash, its not unkown for my pc to be turned of for a week at a time, because my phone is doing what i want it for apart from pc games, yet i cannot afford an inferior device (that was cheaper) that will not do what i want it to do even if i jail break it. thats good marketing from apple. oh well id better enjoy my gorilla glass 4inch samoled+ screen with 512 mb mobile ddr 2 and a 1ghz cpu because i couldnt afford a iphone 4?
  5. i could of bought an iphone 4 for a wee bit cheaper than my samsung galaxy s and it is an awesome phone i have no complaints about it, i call it my hand top since i dont have a lap top but spend loads of hours on my galaxy s veiwing web sites in desktop mode on dolphing hd browser and a full flash player, got flash player 11 on it dont even need to root it to get it to do what i want and got 40 gig of storage unrooted galaxy s 40 gig and loving it 8 gig on phone and 32 gig on the micro sd card 2 gig reserved for little bits of app data if i bought an iphone i would have to jail break it just to do half the stuff my un rooted galaxy s does, yeh i like messing with stuff i think my psp is crippled without custom firmware etc
  6. only skimmed the pages, my msr started acting pretty wonky eg, turn power down and it would keep spinning its blades and other things like suddenly going of in one direction and out of contol and at other tiems it would flash like its low battery with fully charged batterys, turns out it was the main motor that caused all that while i was thinking it was the receiver unit. dad put a new main motor in it, under a tenner from my lhs and its working as it should now
  7. wow that does seem pretty weedy for a savage, i have the same 4300kv system in my thunder tiger xxt and it heats up in that lol
  8. ah oops i find the savox ones to be better than spekkys
  9. you will need to check out the manual on the esc electronic speed controller settings, as you will probably need to manually set up the esc for a lipo cut off for the lipo batterys, sorry i cant be more help but ive never used that esc before but i would not run it untill a lipo cut off is set. if a lipo battery gets too low voltage it can result in a fire or just a knackered battery hence the cut off when set up properly will save the battery from getting over drained when running. some speed controllers have a 2 stage cut off eg power drops low car goes slow etc then cuts of completely while others just cut power instantly, their pretty fool proof from my experience of differnt esc's and lipos but the esc needs to be set to lipo mode for the cut off to work
  10. not sure if this is my biggest but its the most recent screw up, we got to the quarry i sat down and turned on my tx then done usual other stuff and put my hyper 7 black on the starter box, woot engine going hmm that sounds a bit more revving than usual so i put the car on the ground and it revs of straight towards a massive pile of boulders, i grab the tx and think wtf nothings responding so i run after the car and smack right into the big pile of boulders. i forgot to turn on the receiver lol (my hyper 7 black wont prime fuel unless the throttles on so i moved the throttle servo manually and forgot to turn on receiver before starting it on my box after priming) too its credit it was only a very cheap small part that broke another recent one with heli's im used to a mcx and msr plus a 120 sr so i was confident on trying out dads new mcpx, dad said take it easy with it its twicthy im like nae bother ill master it and whacked on the throttle and lost control nearly cut of my ear lobe, blood pouring out lol then thinking id learned how it handles i done the same again and smacked my head with the rotor blades about 10 minutes later lol
  11. happens to me all the time and drives me nuts till i find where it came from looks like a bolt for 1 of the 4 that hold on the heat sink for a nitro engine?
  12. if your wanting to race on a track http://www.ishimarac...rave_m1_0s.html that is a more advanced car than the hyper 7 ones and it is lighter but parts arent as easy to get and if you cant find it for a decent price ( we got ours for around 250 pounds) its a 300 pound or more model it is every bit as solid as a hyper though and has a more powerful engine plus its a lot lighter, just parts arent as easily found as hyper 7 ones i run that and a hyper 7 black for bashing and i dont have a favourite if i had to pick one for racing it would be the ishima. they get distributed by century uk over here and my local model shop got them cheap before hence the good deal, so i guess it depends on if your lhs has a good supply from century for spares etc
  13. you got your self an awesome buggy, the main weak point on my black edition is the servos and their better ones on yours actually upgraded mine to spektrum servos and latest model has them as standard
  14. wowa your gonna love it, hyper mini 12 st's crap out bricks and keep going me and dad went halvers on one ages ago and we both love it, it is unstoppable
  15. btw the ftx one looks a lot better than the hpi brama b
  16. i know theres a market for toy to model class, i went out one year hopeing to get a hi jacker toy car and i ended up with a tandy buggy that had a models standard 540 motor and took the same batteries (7.2v nimhs tamiya connectors) and destroyed the toy i was after (i know the neighbour had the toy i was after), i always wanted somethimg as good as daddies lol, the tandy toy had fast instant speed and matched dads gold tub rc 10, meh handled like crap but went fast, its only reverse gear was full speed though which meant awesome kid abusing it for awesome 180's lol i beleive for people in the hobby they cars are junk and people in the hobby would be able to get a tamiya sand viper kit for their kids then use spare radio gear etc or source cheap radio gear for not much more than they fake cars are, even sourcing a sand viper dt-o2 kit and whacking in a 380 motor till the kid gets used to it, then whack in the standard 540, lol i have a sand viper and its went from a stock silver can to a 21 turn to a 17 turn on stock gearing and its my most used model as it reminds me of my child hood plus 2 wheel drive (never had 4wd ones when i was a kid lol) if i ever have any kids their starting out with 2wd (possibly a sandviper) give young kids credit though i could easily handle dads grasshopper with the 380 motor when i was in primary 1 or 2, i did watch him build it though so i took it easy plus with warnings to go easy after all his work
  17. edinburgh air port is pretty near the quarry we use, and one time we had guys in black shirts with radios approach us, that was weird but they soon seen we were just messing about bashing nitro models and left us alone. the same quarry is used quite a bit by horse riders and dog walkers or even the odd campers, if we see horses or dogs we reign in the rc models untill they have passed, so far no problems, even had a farmer from down the road come up and chat to us about the nitro models after he wondered what the noise was (he was into rc planes) only used nitro models in front of my house about 6 times since we started using them 15 years ago and one of our neighbours decided to be a aggressive ass hole when dad was testing a 3.5 savage after fitting a reverse gear and i was testing a mt 2 i repaired on a sunday afternoon, we got all the fing an swearing etc at us u can imagine, which is not cool especially when im highly depressed and a alchoholic using models as a hobby to take my mind of drinking then a ton of abuse awesome, so i went and drank after that awesome on the plus side through this forum we have met cool people that enjoy the hobby and we meet up with some times
  18. dad and i went halvers on the nitro version, its pretty solid and handles a lot better than the mini st, ours isnt getting used at the moment due to engine problems though but that wont be a factor in the leccy one
  19. just get a hyper 7 black, nothing against hpi apart from spares are more expensive (dad has the trophy truggy) the black like all hyper 7's is tough and reliable for bashing about and now seems to come with decent servos and parts are cheap, i would pick that over the .28 engine one as the .28 engine revs too low for a buggy but is fine for a truck like the hyper st (which dad also has) hope that helps
  20. check your manual usually you have to set up a fail safe oh turning of the receiver switch wont do any thing as the fail safe needs power, turn on the rx and tx then turn of the tx and see what happens
  21. my first one i really loved was an old gold tub rc10 with pretty much a basic 540 in it, it needed constant cowboy jobs on repairs and stuff to keep it going, and all the kids who had big shiny toy rc's used to laugh at it when they seen it been in the state it was. i had the last laugh all their shiny toy ones got proper shafted by the performance of the rc 10 they got left standing, and how quick i could charge up batterys on the fast charger, run one down and the next one is charged while they kept disappearing for hours moaning about how long they take to charge theirs and how slow theirs were compared to the awesome rc10 goldtub that was falling apart with all my models at the moment my current favourite is probably my tamiya sandviper on 2s lipo and a 17 turn brushed motor, its just fun to drive and fast enough sure i can whack 3s lipo into a thunder tiger xxb ang go wow thats nuts but the sand viper is more fun been 2wd plus its the first kit i assembled on my own the xl-5 bandit is my second fav at moment dodgy handling plus i whacked in a brushless system, its only 3300kv but its a wheely machine favourite nitro is my hyper 7 black at moment edit : i got a kyosho tracker kit when i was in primary 5-6 which is why i stopped using the rc 10, i regret selling the tracker to a muppet i seen trashing it, and i think we threw out the rc 10, i keep hoping ill find it in a shed edit 2 : i seen a wild one first hand dad used to have one that was knackered and every time he would fix it then crash it with a 540 motor, had his painted red and black from what i remember i was about 4 or 5 at the time, think he got fed up of fixing and crashing it he then built a grasshopper with a 380 when i was 5 or 6 total nostalgia trip
  22. Yrkoon

    Average age?

27 here and me and dad both have to many rc models to know what to do with, plus my mum doesnt mind them been all over the house or the cost lol
  23. i heard grindy noises from my atom with the stock motor (it was the diffs) the diffs are the main weak point on the atom, im trying to source metal diff gears for an rc 18 for mine to fit in the ball diff. well its actually the plastic input diff gears on each end of the metal drive shaft, they are extreamly weak, my atom is sitting here with a losi 6000kv brushless motor and a metal geared savox steering servo with no servo safer (atoms servo saver wouldnt fit the savox servo) and a 2.4ghz etronix reciever. basically all its eletronics are changed and i even drilled slots in its chassis for velcro straps to hold the overlander 2200 2s lipos in place. when my thunder tiger xxb runs out of bigger lipos i use the same 2200 lipos in it. its modded to hell and back atom xb version buggy and i cant use it because of the little plastic input gears going into the diffs at each end of the drive shafts. oh it was popping wheeleys and was going faster than my 1/10th scale buggys untill i encountered the weak input gears for the diffs now it just sits here looking pretty i advise to just get a rc18 since the atom is a clone of it, i might just ditch my atom and get an rc18 kit then put all my gear from my atom into it, they have kits where you can build a buggy or a truggy or switch between the 2 my atom i got for 64 pounds and its sitting here useless with about 200 pounds worth of equipment in it thanks to the very weak input diff gears just dont chuck more money at it like i did you will be very disapointed, get your lad a tamiya sand viper kit and build it together (thats my most used model) its fun to drive and cheap (17 turn motor in my one with 2s lipos at moment) (it was so good i even bought a second kit for 80 pounds just for spares and i havent needed to use many move ur lad up to 1/10th scale with a sand viper and its stock silver can at 27 turns )
  24. i used 3s on mine and the drive shafts got knackered pretty rapid, it was fun though popping wheelies etc
