  1. what about the stock tyres from that traxxas one that is supposed to be 100mph out the box?
  2. center the servo for steering, eg unscrew the servo horn, connector thingy link thing on your steering and power it up so that the servo is in a neutral posistion and all trims centered, then reconnect the servo horn so that the steering is as straight as possible and screw it down. use trim to make car go in a straight line after doing all that the twitching could be a number of things but best to do what i mentioned and go from there
  3. just be careful on rewinding the springs... they can slice your skin pretty good if you lose grip, yep talking from experience
  4. i done one order with them recently, i ordered batteries from their uk warehouse, they arrived with a 20 odd quid customs charge yeh uk warehouse and they sent from china, also one of them was defective.... their live chat is a joke, ended up cutting my losses and will never deal with them ever again.
  5. i have the original kyosho dbx and it sucks really bad, it will break almost every time you take it out and the engine is a unreliable piece of rubbish. that is my experience of it save up a bit more and get a hyper 7 tbh
  6. preferred one here is my speccy 3c followed by my etronix pulse thingy most models are speccy receivers or etronix with a few on the thundertiger ace rc things here
  7. wish i had one when i first got my hyper 7 black, spent all day up a quarry out with models and i couldn't get it started at all as it was so tight, ended up using a hair drier when we got back and finally got the engine started in my garden lol meh got a starter box now though
  8. cheers guys ill have a look at your suggestions edit : would of responded sooner but my psu on my pc decided to fail on me, meh 6 years was good and i can cross a new psu off my upgrade list, just need a new cpu and main board now computers components are intact thx to having a decent psu, a crap one would off took out components with it, let out a big breath when i hit the power button with new psu and it posted
  9. shove all your gear in the attic, in a few years time you will be glad you still have it all when you get the urge i still regret binning my old rc10 gold tub and selling my kyosho tracker to a complete dumbass im just getting back into ground models after a long break and im glad they are all still here, all i had to do was buy some hardcase lipos get new nitro fuel and away i go

    4WD vs 2WD

yup well said, sums up my thoughts on it, expanding a bit but none of my 2wd models have ever needed maintenance on the drive train, my 4wd ones do hehe my hyper 7 up the local quarry thats been locked now was fun it was very loose dusty crap in parts and when i have the road tyres on, it felt like a 2wd, i tried my sandviper in the same place and it just spun and that was a slower motor than what is in it now lol
  11. hey guys, what rear tires would you reccomend for a sandviper running a 2s lipo and a 17 turn brushed motor? mainly used for street use, so loads of tarmac and some short grass. my bandit has the anaconda tyres and they are good for the areas out side my house, just not got a clue what to use on the sandviper, just after a hard wearing tire and not too bothered about grip on tarmac, as long as there is a little bit grip

    4WD vs 2WD

depends on the terrain i guess, yet for bashing out side my house with a 10 scale leccy i pick my bandit and sandviper over my 4wd xxb as they have more "fun" handling imo. think all the nitro's we have are 4wd but they need it with some of the places we go.
  13. hey guys i got a ftx surge dune buggy and the front seems very fragile, spares are easy and cheap to get but im wondering if any one has found a good bumper that fits it?. the slightest wee impact on the front arms seem to break stuff, any ideas how to make it more solid if theres not a bumper i can add too it? got a spare step up stinger as we decommisioned one for spares maybe i could dremmel a small bumper out of the spare chassis, as that plastic is so bendy?
  14. hehe that is some awesome speed for something so small, impressive
  15. traxxas bandit xl-5 will not be a disppointment, i love mine and after it has been run for a good bit the bushings in the wheel hubs need replaced, i got the bearing kit to replace the bushings and fitted a front rpm bumper and rpm back guard then shoved a 3300kv brushless system in it and it runs on 2s lipos with no problem and even the xl-5 esc it comes with has a lipo cut off and takes a 2s which it was running on day one if a part breaks just replace that part with a rpm one out of all my models the bandit is the most reliable one for not breaking http://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-bandit-xl-5-id-rtr-black-/rc-car-products/392845 got that exact model for 180 quid years ago and i consider it money well spent, its a very fun buggy due to its long chassis and 2wd yet i see my self charging a lipo and taking the bandit out over 4wd ones that cost more and handle better just because it is FUN. for the current price i see nothing that will beat it for been solid or any that will beat it's performance, oops a bit broke no worries just order a rpm part from model sport and chances are that cheap rpm part will not break only part that broke on mine was the rear shock tower and thats because i made it brushless and kept pulling wheelies on rough ground and it landed at a wierd angle yet i have had it for so many years you can also convert it to a rustler truck at a later date they both have the same chassis
  16. just spent a few hours earlier going over the engine, took it out model and took it apart piece by piece while cleaning and used the old fuel to assist in the cleaning and flushing out of it. i noticed the fly wheel (that the right term for wheel the starter box makes contact with?) had a lot more compression when i reasembled the engine think i seen a bit of a glow plug coil in it as well so engine has more compression now and heres hoping it will behave, guess ill find out next time we take nitros out, if any thing it is all shiney and sparkley now cheers for the help guys if it still acts up ill check the carb out. if the hyper 7 behaves possibly expect another thread on a mt2 engine lol yeh we still got a mt2, cannot remember if their t 15 engines or g3's or what ever their called as we replaced them years ago and decommisioned a mt2 to keep one running, mt2 engine has no comppression, might be another mt2 engine kicking about though
  17. hehe kool, i never owned the firestorm but i hear its a blast especially the flux version
  18. well i have both hpi and traxxas models and they seem about the same build quality, as far as i know the traxxas parts are cheaper though.
  19. what about the xl5 bandit or rustler? oh same chassis and share a lot of parts which are cheap and easy to get, good tip, if any thing breaks just order up a rpm part to replace it as rpm parts are damn near indestructable http://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-bandit-xl-5-id-rtr-silver-/rc-car-products/392847 http://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-rustler-xl-5wp-rtr-2.4ghz-tq-white-/rc-car-products/387922 got the xl5 bandit and replaced metal bushings with bearings and added a rpm bumper and back guard thingy and then added a brushless system, it pops wheelies on command which is why i got the back rpm guard, mine just goes and goes and is fun to drive due to its poor cornering, proper throttle control required lol been running it since day 1 on 2s lipos and even the supplied motor had a lot of grunt and you can convert a rustler into a bandit or vice versa
  20. kool cheers guys, were just on the outskirts of edinburgh, queensferry, yep kool pete bashing is more fun with more people
  21. as title says we need a new bashing spot, our local quarry now has big gates up and closed another spot is over grown and another one has too many people, and the bing is back in use for shale. thats what we get for not using ground models for a few years any one in the area or fife area know of any good bash spots, for any thing from a 10 scale leccy to a 8 scale sledgehammer monster truck nitro beast......??
  22. hehe yup that is one way to do it about 4 years ago when we had the heavy snow i cut up a rubber marigold glove, and enclosed a esc a receiver and a servo on one of the stinger truck models, i had awesome fun with that even though i had a soft pack lipo covered in snow dug it out recently and all the components are still working
  23. no worries it's a very fun handling buggy although a bit challenging at times yep as hyper boy says yes and yes to needing a water proof servo and receiver, if your planning on very wet driving eg big puddles etc other wise i wouldn't bother i drive all my non water proof ones in the wet, as long as it doesn't get total soaked on the electronics it should be fine
