  1. The postie made today new radio day! Replacing my trusty Spectrum DX4r Pro with the DX5 Pro for track duties and the DX5 Rugged for the bashers, crawlers and boats 😎🤟
  2. All servos CAN operate above their max rated voltage but you'll almost certainly shorten it's lifespan. Basically, it'll work but you won't know how long for. It's an expensive servo to fry in any case!
  3. You don't need the copper washer with turbo plugs. If there's a leak around the plug then either the threads have gone in the head button or the plug simply hasn't been screwed in tight enough.
  4. Personally I'd avoid the Mavericks as there's a bit of a parts supply issue. Out of those you've listed you can't go far wrong with an Arrma Oh and welcome!
  5. If your new servo specifies 4.8-6.0v then I think you'll be pushing it at 7.4v. You may be better off finding a servo with stronger torque at 6v or maybe look at high-voltage servos which are designed to take 7.4v+
  6. Finished the HB E819 track build! 🥳
  7. Smashed 10 tanks through the HB D817 at the track. Ran sweet as a nut all day long, had an absolute blast!
  8. Been prepping and tinkering all day, should be a blast!
  9. Managed to fix a dead, £60 servo with a £3.50 part. Life doesn't get much more rewarding than that!
  10. Looks awesome, can't beat a spot of boating!
  11. The original thread was 12years old. There was a major upgrade of the forum a couple of years back and I believe some data including certain threads were lost. This is probably one of them. Why was your first race so disastrous? What exactly would you like to improve? Its been ages since I ran a tamiya but if i'm not mistaken the TT01 probably runs bushes rather than full bull bearings? If that's the case that's the first place i'd start. Are you running at a club? It's rare that a touring class runs brushed motors nowadays (maybe drifters still do?) - you'd almost certainly benefit from an upgrade to brushless motor and ESC and LiPo batteries if you're running NiMh!
  12. I own both Traxxas and Arrma and don't feel I have any real loyalty to either brand - I buy what tickles my fancy. But what's really starting to boil my pee about this industry is companies releasing products that just aren't up to the job. I bought an early Xmaxx back in the day - the one with the self-grenading crown gears and electrics that would put a cremation chamber to shame. 5 years later i bought a Kraton V4 6s with a bendy chassis. Now we have this. My problem is that all of these issues MUST have been apparent during testing. Unless the test drivers consist of nothing more than the receptionist's grandmother? These issues must've been seen during development but they still get released! But WHY do they get released with issues?? Because we, the end user, are happy to show our "loyalty" to the brand and fix the issues using our own wallet! Us hobbyists are our own worst enemy. It really doesn't matter which brand you're "loyal" to or who you want to brand as a "fanboy" -Traxxas fans branded the Xmaxx woes as early teething issues and now Arrma fans are getting laughed at for doing the same. Trouble is, we're all as bad as each other because we've allowed this to become the norm.
  13. I sold all my nitro gear and regretted it within a couple of months and started buying them again. Brushless is convenient but totally numb and soulless. If you have somewhere to run it and don't need the cash then i'd keep it!
  14. It's the con rod that feels most of the strain, especially when you still have plenty of compression. If you're starting to lose compression then you'd be best to change the sleeve, piston and con rod all at once. Trouble is (particularly with RTR engines) that once you add up the cost of all the parts you may as well just buy a whole new engine. This is exactly what I do. The engine in my Firestorm lasted over two years and around 5 gallons before it grenaded itself. In this case a new engine was actually cheaper than the replacement parts!
  15. You could always use a temperature gun. The ideal range when measured on top of the glow plug would be about 105-120 c. If it's too hot then your high speed is too lean and vice versa. If the temperature is correct and you have a faint trail of exhaust smoke at WOT then I don't think you'd be far off a perfect tune. It'd run well enough for bashing anyway i'd say!
  16. Can't wait to see the X hit the wall of death!
  17. I was about to take one of my HB's on there the other day but was swiftly advised against such blasphemy! Kraton only i think!
  18. You're not hanging about! She looks great I've got some catching up to do!
  19. Yes that's the one! Shady looking guy. I hear he also likes to dabble in Kyosho and Associated too
  20. Cheers AJ! Head was firmly up my behind for the first couple of weeks but I think it's starting to get a little easier now! Totally worth it though!
  21. Since my first child arrived 4 weeks ago i've finally got a spare hour or two to start building this up!
