    GLracing GL rider trike

    GL Racing, after bringing us their high performance 1/27 touring chassis the GLA-V2 are now bringing their micro sized Trike; the GL-Rider! Take a ride with us and discover the full range of features of this chassis! Aimed for both competitive racing and having fun with friends, this trike can be flipped over by a simple turn of the steering wheel thanks to unique pod design!

    At first glance, it may seem this is but a shrunk down version of the Tamiya Trike, but starting from the body you will be able to spot some differences! Made from Injection Molded ABS, light buckets in the front and rear are included and you can actually install LEDS onto them! The front grill is a separate piece allowing for you to paint it a different color if you choose so.

    The package may seem pricey at first, but with the included Hobbywing Brushless ESC and GL Racing’s own Motor, alongside with their Aluminum Cased Servo, it comes out to be a great deal.

    A tiny rear wing similar to those found in touring cars have been included, and can be removed.

    A side view of the body installed onto the chassis, included is a clear window installation similar to those of Mini-z Bodies!

    Here we take a look at the chassis without the body installed. You can see that thought has been given whilst designing this chassis. Everything has a spot for it to be mounted so the end result is a very neat chassis.

    The battery, being one of the heaviest component is at the very bottom. The ESC and Motor are situated on the rear pod which eliminates binding which may occur if the ESC was on the chassis instead.

    The kit comes with an aluminum ball differential, which means any MR-03 wheel can be installed in the rear (wide or narrow).

    Here we can see the receiver bay, a normal cased receiver seemingly will fit, but may prove to be tight.

    A spring loaded front fork keeps the ride stable even when running on the RCP tiles. The front tire has been newly designed and manufacturer specially for this trike.

    Here we can see the rear motor pod design and how it’s connected to the main chassis. Interestingly, this chassis does not require “flip rods” like that of the Tamiya to get upright again. This may due to the rear pod design.

    Some more specs and a brief overview from GL themselves;

    It is always GL’s philosophy to share our product idea with our customers. Since the successful launch of our GLA and GLR, GL team is trying to make something not only for “COMPETITION” but also for “FUN”. People always have an impression that if a car is designed for fun purpose, it may not have the capability for competition!

    GL team would strike a balance between fun and competition. After extensive research in the RC community, it seems that this 3 Wheels Rider is a solution for such purpose. 2 wheels cycle is too difficult to drive for beginners and 4 wheels car is too common.

    You can play it alone for fun at home with your kids or play it with a group of RC fans at track where you are all competing together as if you were playing our GLA or GLR.
