stigimun
can you use a ordinary sponge for the air filter??
Revorocks
A sponge would provide some filtration but they are not fine enough. Dual stage air filters have a sponge like first stage, but the second stage is much finer sponge. Get a proper air filter. No point in trying to cheap out on something so in expensive at the risk of your engine. Sand and fine dirt will go through a normal sponge. SuperNik
Engines with home made or no air filter tend to last seconds rather than minutes. Nitro engines are amazingly sensitive to any unwanted debris in them. For a few quid it's well worth it. I change mine every ten tanks or so just to be on the safe side.
