To be honest mate they all look okay for what you want it for.  Just make sure you choose something made from foam and make sure you choose a still day (i.e. no breeze!) and in an open area. If you're serious about giving a good try then maybe contact your local model club. Your local model shop will be able to point you in the right direction or go on the BMFA website and look around there.

Mattyboy, I have made contact with 2 clubs right near me, neither of which have responed :confused: that was nearly 2 weeks ago, thankfully I have a large open field where I work so might be able to sneek a lunchtime up there and try it out.

Yes, they look like a toy, but are damn good fun, almost indestructible and you will learn the basics of RC plane flying.

also the original champ I said in my first post is also on als hobbies for cheaper £60! rtf

the champ s + is brushless so more power and has safe so just let go of the sticks and its self levels. Perfect if your learning :)
