Glenyboy
I'm converting a spare tt01 I have laying around for my son to run offroad, I've trimmed the front and rear skid plates to allow for extra travel and I'm going to trim the c cups. I'm in need of shocks and not sure what to buy? The 55mm gpm ones on asiatees are completely out of stock. So they're out of the question. A few fingers have pointed towards the tamiya cva mini's with soft springs. Would these far different from any of the other generic 55mm alloy shocks? And are soft springs essential. Thanks
Glenyboy
Well I've just fitted these shocks I've had laying around off of my mst drift car, they don't seem to rebound very well. I'm guessing a change of oil, any recommendations? I'll have to see what it's like once I get the tyres through the post.
NuttyProfessor
You need longer throw shocks for the ground clearance seeing that the Tamiya lacks droop screws for height adjust. 60-65mm should be spot on as you have trimmed the skid plates
Glenyboy
Thanks, I'll have a look to see what I can find. Just got some rally blocks, not long now!
NuttyProfessor
Tyres that do work well are Fastrax Chevron, I use them for every surface ordered some rally blocks for my Vaterra. Love the vintage look.
Glenyboy
I've bid on some from china that look exactly like those, pretty sure they're around
NuttyProfessor
About how much I paid but I bought rims only too so I can fit my hard slicks to them for powersliding.
Glenyboy
Same here, I bought 4 sets but mine have a chrome rim instead of black. Worst thing is the delivery times. I just got refunded off of one seller who said the package was destroyed by customs because there was a weapon of sorts in the same container. NuttyProfessor
Eeeeeeee weapons grade RC rims! Haha
PraetoR
You don't need to be too specific on the make of shock, or anything, just the size. I'm using 15 year old Schumacher pro-racing shocks on my TT-01.
Glenyboy
What length are those?
PraetoR
When mounted to the car, maximum extended length of approximately 55mm from centre of top eye to centre of bottom eye, which is around 60mm from the very top surface of the shock to the very bottom. However, the suspension arms prevent the shocks from extending to 100%, so the shocks might be ever so slightly bigger than that. 60mm shocks would do fine though, I think.
