Sharkfat78
Guys, what's the best way of removing hammerite, preferably some form of liquid or whatever that saves sanding. Some of the parts I've gone and sprayed I wont be able to sand anyway. Thanks
53HRA
What parts are you trying to remove from mate?
Sharkfat78
Chassis, shock caps, engine head, steering knuckles and a couple of other related parts. Just dont ask lol
53HRA
Try any of these listed below.Remember you will need to soak the parts for a few hours even up to a day to two for results: Nitro fuel Paintstripper Brake Fluid Oven cleaner Caustic soda used for drains Screwfix graffiti cleaner Test on the metal parts first - You don't want to be applying stuff onto plastic and finding it goes all flimsy Edit: Always wear gloves and wear a mask.Once you get paint stripping you don't realize how toxic these things get - Had to have a chest x-ray 3 months ago after inhaling so much car paint without protection lol. atom3624
Let us know how you get on!! I would try some form of cellulose solvent / thinner, else just good ol' elbow grease. Al.
Madmini
On the metal parts you can soak them in nitromorse (not sure that's spelled right. Then just hose it off. Don't touch it tho
