Oh dear, that isn't a positive sign. The electrics may need replacing. Contact the seller, was the item described as fully working? Perhaps you have a just cause to claim a refund, although faulty electronics can be tricky to prove.

Sadly, this is the problem buying second hand from eBay, especially on a brand like himoto; they're cheap for a reason....

To be fair he no we have given it some stick over the last 2 weeks so really I think its down to us. What electrics will need replacing in your opinion? the ESC and motor?

Assuming its the 1/10th, the ESC is rated to run 13t cans or more, a cheap hpi 15t firebolt, for example, will get you running on the stock ESC, provided that is working....which seems doubtful.

There are a number of wp, lipo compatible, brushed escs listed on MS, suitable for the 15t can; personally, I run etronix probe wp escs in our tamiyas and have no issues, others hate them and run MS trident xt12's....or something different altogether....

Now that fits your bill perfectly, just spotted it on MS. Hobbywing kit is easy to set up and generally very reliable. The one linked runs NiMH/lipo, has built in cut off and isn't a bank breaker.
