agoodley
Can I use general grease you get in those big tubs for the diff? Or does it have to be a silicone lube.
Tug
Oil is far superior. What car is it? Front, Centre or rear diff?

Tug
"Ball diff usually use that black grease" ? Yup. I think cos it sticks to the balls instead of getting flung off. However, I'm no ball-diff expert.
cutting42
You want Silicone grease like Alex97 pointed you to or similar from Associated/Losi etc etc. The black moly grease is only used on the thrust bearing but std grease will do there if you don't have any black moly grease. I looked up the manual for the XTR and it does specify silicone grease for the diff balls.
agoodley
Thanks guys, yes I just saw in the manual online that it says use silicone grease but I just wanted to see if this was basically the same as the normal stuff. The manufacturers will always recommend a certain type so that you buy it.
