painting a shell... What paint is possible? brushed?

Now I know this is strange but I've made the tamiya models before where you paint with those little pots and a brush.

Can we use these paints on a clear rc shell? Is it flexible enough. From the outside you have the clear shell which creates the smooth shiny finish so brush marks won't be a problem.

Or is there a specific make of paint you can brush on the inside of a shell?

Reasons being I want to do  multiple shades of one colour (light blue) but still spray the overlay colour (silver) or underlay, I can't remember wether you go from dark to light or vice versa.

But yes, I'd much prefer to use a brush than masking. That also means I can mix paint
