  1. Hey all, I've bought a Traxxas Rustler XL-5 and it already has a few upgraded in it, primarily being the Hobbywing EZRUN MAX10 ESC and the HobbyWing EZRUN 3652 G2 3300KV Brushless Motor. I'm currently running a 2S LiPo in my car but I'd quite like to upgrade it to a 3S LiPo. I already know that the ESC can handle a 3S LiPo as I just have to reprogram it for 3S, but would the gears in the car itself be able to handle the extra speed from the motor and not wear out quickly? I should also mention that the car has a steel 30 tooth idle gear and a steel ring in the differential, if that makes any difference. Any help is appreciated as I'm quite a noob at RC and don't know a whole load about it. Thanks!
  2. Greetings folks 😊. I intended to run these two packs together to run my Arrma Typhon on 6s... However I failed to check the dimensions and one pack alone practically fills the battery bay. 2x Turnigy Nano-Tech 8400mAh 11.1V 3S, 40-80c discharge w/ deans plugs I'm based in Sunderland and Ideally I'd like to swap these for a single 6s pack or two 3s packs of smaller dimensions so long as what you have is >5000mah >35C w/ EC5 or Deans plugs. A chance for someone to trade up in the mAh world on the back of my error. 😊 I'd possibly be interested in a swap for brushless combos for 1/10 or marine, tx/rx etc... Feel free to hit me up with any other RC swaps you may have... The least I can say is no. Thanks for looking and have a nice day.
  3. Hopups / Gearing / Heat (3s) Hi All, Starting to see the weaknesses of some of the stock parts of the Merv. Running it on:2SP2 - 7.4v - 4000mAh (Two 2S LiPo with 2000mAh ran in parallel) 23t Pinion and Stock 50t Spur Pro-Line Road Rage Street 1:16 Tires Mounted on Titus Bead-Loc Wheels I have three questions really: About Hopups, About Gearing and About Heat About Hopups - What is best, the RPM toughened plastic upgrades or the aluminium Fastracks upgrades. I am referring to things like: - Suspension arms - Axle carriers - Hex hubs I noticed there is loads of slop in the MERV toe links and push rods especially. Bit of a poor show, so keen to get that sorted. My hesitation here is that if I upgrade to the very tough aluminium Fastrax parts, all that kinetic energy upon impact wouldnt be absorbed by these very strong parts, but will instead trasnser somewhere else . . . like to the chasis? This is my concern, and wondered if someone with direct expexperience could kindly comment. So to iterate, options are, toughened plastic ones from RPM (example part here) or super tough parts from Fastrax (example part here) I found the Titus Bead-loc wheels and tyres to be a very worthy upgrade, expensive by worth it. The extra weight keeps the MERV from flipping on turns (as much). Which leads me onto my next question. About Gearing How do I work out the FGR (Final Gear Ratio) having changed the wheels / tyres. Please see link above of the tyres I have. The only information I can see is that it says they are 3.4” Oversized tire diameter, and the tyres themselves say 1.50 x 3.45 on the side. FDR Calculation as I understand it: Spur Gear (50t) / Pinion Gear (23t) * (dunno tyre diameter?) 5.04 - 10.96 The 5.04 comes from the manual, I am guessing that must be the diameter of the stock tyre but I'm guessing here, please could someone advise me. Then I can work out the FDR with my new tyres. Again, they say 15. x 3.45 on the side, can I use that to work out the FDR? About Heat I am running the speed pinion (23t) with the stock spur (50t) which I dont think will cause heat problems even with the larger tyres on a 2s2p setup. However once I have updated all the suspension, toe links, push rods, shocks etc I will be looking at getting these bad boys: 3s2p - Meaning - Two 3 cell LiPos with 60C discharge (ouch!!!) With the 3s2p setup, I would only be using it for speed runs, too much roll and resistance for bashing / grass runs. I have mechanical compassion for my stock ESC after all. At that time, I think I might have to increase the spur gear size or reduce the pinion? Or will 23 / 50 be ok? Thank you very much for reading, and comments greatly appreciated Stuart
