  1. I thought the future was fuel cell cars in 1:1? All of the major car manufaturers are working on them and some have working examples I believe. I don't think they would invest billions into a dead end technology
  2. March is Here! .... Any news of its arrival yet?
  3. Yeah, I was thinking about a degree/masters project not for kids
  4. A fuel cell RC car would make a great project for someone - not sure it has been done before...
  5. I would buy a lipo capable charger. If and when you go brushless you will soon be looking at Lipo's To start with you will probably be impressed enough with a decent 19T motor though. The difference in power brushless / Lipo makes is more than you can imagine realy. Not many decent clips of brushless e-firestorms on you tube yet, but if you look at brushless VXL's / Rustlers you will see the power available. I have a mamba max in my e-firestorm and love it. Going from a 19T to mamba max is a bit like turning a Vauxhall Astra into a Ferrari in terms of power, it realy is a big jump. Thats something you can upgrade to later though, its not a bad idea to cut your teeth with a brushed motor first any way! Rob
  6. Yeah, they sound good. Whats the best place to buy a feigeo?
  7. I have run my Mamba 7700 on 3S a few times in the B4. The speed and power is incredible - It would pull a wheelie on the B4 at about 50mph which was un-nerving. I didnt push my luck by trying the same set up in one of my stadium trucks though. The motor costs about
  8. Yes, maybe but would a 20 year old design be competitive? I doubt it would cut it against modern day buggies on the track.
  9. Hi! It depends what's more important to you, speed and handling or 4wd and serious off-roading? If you will mainly be running on tarmac, dirt, grass then the Rustler will do the job and is very, very fast with the right battery. If you don't mind investing in RC and want a serious bit of kit then get the E-maxx and then maybe get the Mamba Monster Max when it comes out (thats the brushless system from castle creations), add a 6S Lipo and you have an E-maxx that will be nearly as fast as the Rustler VXL - about 60mph. Own a decent brushless e-maxx with decent Lipo's and you will have a faster and more powerful truck than any nitro truck but it will cost you
  10. The stock e-firestorm motor isn't that great so won't be brilliant at accelerating or braking but should definetly be more notceable than just letting go of the trigger. Check all of the transmitter settings and recalibrate the transmitter to the ESC if possible. If that doesn't work then a smaller pinion will give better acceleration and braking but lower top speed. I recomend upgrading from the stock motor as it seriously doesn't do the e-firestorm justice.
  11. Knives can be dangerous if put in the wrong hands.... If used with due care and respect modern Lipo's are not dangerous.
  12. One difference is a very short receiver wire with the 2.4Ghz. I beleive the functionality of the transmitter is the same. So is 2.4Ghz worth the money? I don't know to be honest.
  13. I would be suprised if electric didn't take a larger market share as the technology becomes more affordable and continues to improve. The recent release of Brushless RTR's is bound to have an effect on the choice made by some newbies into the hobby that might otherwise have gone nitro.

    HD-DVD is dead

Check the Pioneer at amazon for £139. Sorry cant be bothered to link....
  15. The e-firestorm motor is poor. I'm sure most people would rather pay an extra £10 and get a decent motor with it. Still, not much else to fault the stock e-firestorm on realy. OK the steering servo isn't the best in the world but it does the job. RTR at £119 musn't grumble I suppose!

    HD-DVD is dead

My 32" HDTV cost me £800 just over a year ago. I have now seen a similar spec TV for £400!! The trouble with technology is that you pay a big premium if you are an early apopter.

    HD-DVD is dead

OK, I'll wait for the 360 Blu Ray drive. The price of standalone Blu ray players is still pretty high, I think the cheapest I saw was £140.

    HD-DVD is dead

I guess this could effect the Xbox 360 vs PS3 war. I would think twice about buying a 360 now.

    making a ramp

Maybe OK for 1/18 or Micro T though. I think a bit small for 1/10 maybe?
  20. I love my electrics but have nitro bashing mates! I too think Nick is about right, RC is about community. It would be boring if every one was in to exactly the same RC. It is more exciting that we have different people into different aspects of the hobby i.e. 1/18th 1/10th, Nitro, electric, monster, TC, Bashing, Racing etc.... The greater the diversity the better overall for the hobby.
  21. 5000mah should be enough though. I charge my 5350mah and 8000mah at 5amps. Yes the 8000mah takes nearly two hours but you get about 30-40mins run time so seems worth the wait. A balancer is about £25, I got mine from robotbirds. Maybe someone can suggest a better charger/balncer for the money? Out of interest will it effect Lipo performance if I am only charging at 0.6C? If anything I thought it would be kinder to the battery and hence more cycles.
  22. I have one of these and I love it Well worth the investment.
  23. The acceleration of the 7700 in a touring car will be amazing even on a decent stick pack. It is expensive, but I would recomend upgrading to Lipo at some point. The difference between Lipo and NmHi cells in a Mamba max system is like going from brushed to brushless in terms of power difference - at least that what it feels like.
  24. Depend how fast you want it? Also what batteries will you be using. I have two mamba max systems and love the power and speed. The down side to mamba max is the motor temps, but as you will be running in a touring car then that should be less of an issue. For crazy speed the 7700 is a rocket on a decent 6-cell set up. You will need a high quality e.g. IB4200 stick pack (or better) to meet the demands of Mamba max. Of course Lipo is better and is a whole new level of power. The 5700 will still be fast on 6 cells, and to be honest more controllable/driveable than the 7700. The 5700 on 3S Lipo is faster than 7700 on 2S Lipo or 8 NmHi cells. You are not supposed to run the 7700 on 3S lipo as it exceeds the motor rpm limit. If you are thinking of going Lipo then get the 5700. If you want maximum speed out of 6 cells get the 7700.
  25. I think he said "Bull Raced" not "Ball Raced". A car that claims to be "Bull Raced" means it is said to have been raced against a Bull and is therefore not only fast but tough as well You can sometimes tell a bullraced car by the hoof or horns marks of an accidental encounter.
