  1. I wonder what would happen if whilst out at the park you accidently hit someone with a RC car? I guess the person could sue (civil claim) - For this I think there would have to be at least a bruise or cut or something? but would there be a criminal charge? I guess this would depend on the damage? Would it be the same as if you hit some one with a real car - careless driving/dangerous driving? Or could you get done for assualt or something?? As it is an 'accident' surely not? I mean you could accidently hit someone with a frisbie or football and give them a nosebleed, I just hope there is some common sense left in the law.
  2. You will get more performance fast charging MiMH cells. When I got my first RC car I got a slow charger with the car - I noticed a difference when I fast charged the battery. I would say running a 23T motor that a decent NmHi battery will be good enough. I wouldn't worry about LIPO's unless you are running a high performance modiified motor or a a brushless motor. I would go for a battery with over 4000mah for respectable run times.
  3. Relax - it could take 2-3 weeks but remember the price is about 1/2 UK price so worth the wait. I have never had a problem with BPP.
  4. I am not quite sure what you are saying - reaching top speed quicker means quicker acceleration. Better acceleration is achieved by reducing the size of the pinion gear, which will also reduce the overall top speed. The 23T superstock motors can be geared fairly high (big pinion) compared to say a 15T motor, at the same time they have the torque to give good acceleration even with that bigger pinion. Lower turn motors need to be geared lower (small pinion) as they have less torque than higher turn motors. I bought a cheap 12T double motor for my Rustler once and although it revved at 42,000rpm I had to gear it so low to get the acceleration I needed, the top speed was no higher than the 23T superstock and the torque was not as good any way.
  5. I saw it on "FIVER" tonight. They could have made more of it realy. As its the gadget show it would have been better to show the latest developments i.e. Mamba Monster Max in an e-revo or something that would have impressed me any way! No disrespect to Tamiya, but the XB models are not exactly the pinnacle of electric RC car technology. Would have been nice to see some brushless cars realy showing how fast they are etc...

    Career Choices

I wouldn't rule out the IT route just yet... I taught my firend the basics of programming when we were about 12 - I have long since lost interest in computers and went into manufacturing engineering. My friend is 29 years old and just got a job earning
  7. The Tamiya Super Stock 23T motors are excellent and produce both high torque and decent RPM (about 26,000). See fusion hobbies for a good price. A big jump from the stock silver can and runs OK on the standard Tamiya ESC - if a little hot.
  8. Well luckily for us the good old web makes it easier than ever before to order direct from U.S.A. Good companies like B-P-P.com offer free delivery and some how get through customs charges

That was Quick! I never quite finished San Andreas or Vice city so determined to at least beat the main story. What with work and keeping the misses sweet I can only bag a couple of hours on it a day usually so probably have a few weeks to go.....
  10. I have noticed that on my e-firestorm when I hold the car and spin one wheel the other wheel doesn't go in the opposite direction like I would expect a diff to do. Instead there is a slight delay and the other wheel moves in the same direction. Is this normal? Why doesn't the other wheel spin the opposite way? I can hold one wheel still and spin the other wheel ok. It is a bevel gear diff by the way. Cheers, Rob

    esc power

You will have no trouble using the 3800mah battery. ESC's have a motor 'turn' limit as lower turns means more powerful, more amp draw and more for the ESC to deal with. As long as you stick to the motor turn limit for the ESC and the voltage limit (e.g usually 7.2 or 8.4volt) you will be fine. Rob

I couldn't steal the leer jet from the airport? Funny as they were flyable in San Andreas! Also, when does the fair ground or roller coaster open up? I want to check out some rides!

    GTA4

My First impressions are Good. I like the graphics as they have a sort of oil painting feel in certain lighting. I have completed a lot of the early missions using my initiative rather than just doing the ovious which makes it fun. Like when I had to smash the chinese restaurant window... I dialled 911 asked for the fire service then got in the fire truck and smashed the window I am a little disappointed with the radio stations, not as good as previos GTA's - but I am hoping they will grow on me. I thought with the budget available they could have got a few better tunes... Car handling is different from the other GTA's but once you get used to it I think it is better and more realistic, the cars have a real weight to them. I am not sure how long I will spend on the mini games, Pool seems the best I think of the ones tried so far! I love trying to break the rules like trying to smash past the bridge blockades and get to the unlocked parts of the city. I also managed to jump on an airlines wheels and get a free lift along the run way, sadly I was killed before the plane managed to take off.

    GTA4

Believe the Hype! I am 30 Years old, been into gaming TWENTY years and feel like a kid at Christmas!! This will prove to be the biggest game on this generation of consoles. Out of interest anyone with a PS3 or 360 deciding not to buy it? Apart from lack of funds.... why not?

    GTA4

I reserved my copy at a local independant shop - I phoned up today and he said yes he had the game in. When I asked if I could pick it up tonight he said no that he had to sign contracts not to sell untill 29th Oh, well I've been looking forward to this game for a year so whats another day!
  17. Apparantly the guy has spent quite a lot of time and money to get this Hyper 7 well into the 50's... I don't know much about nitro's but I get the impression that he may get a suprise that an electric car can be so quick. A lot of people aren't as knowledgeable about electric cars as the people that use this forum
  18. I think the biggest challenge is controlling the power and keeping the front wheels down! I have flipped that thing at 40-50mph when I hit full throttle too quickly.
  19. A guy at work reckons his mate has a super dooper tuned Hyper 7 that can do in excess of 54mph! After ranting how fast my e-firestorm is I have to put my money where my mouth is and race this guy. I have an E-Firestorm with mamba max 5700 and 3S Lipo. The fastest I have got is 59 mph so I'm guessing I don't have too much to worry about right? I've never raced a nitro before but looking forward to it I don't think these guys have seen a mamba max powered car before

Straight TEN's from IGN! I wonder if it gets the acclaimed 10/10 from EDGE magazine.

    GTA4

I have been into games for more than 20 years, I can't remember a more eagerly anticpated release. Are there any gamers who wont want a copy for there collection? GTA seems to be almost universally popular - GTAIV should be one of the best gaming experiences around today. Roll on Apr 29th.....
  22. I hope B-P-P.com sell this soon!! Tempting to get it now from Castle but add shipping costs & customs charges make it more expensive than B-P-P probably - also I cant afford the hand wound Neu motors, I'm waiting for the castle version.
  23. Thought I'd just pop back in on this one... The Flux runs a 4600 on 3S or a 5700 on 2S - with sensible gearing this wont give you heat issues. My trouble is that I run on 3S lipo on 5700 (allowed on mamba max) and need to gear fairly high to get 55mph+ speeds. The point is that if you want to go realy fast the motor overheats. The basic problem is that the motor is revving at about 60,000rpm to give you the high speeds - high rpm = heat issues. From all I have read on the subject I have learned that the best way to get speed is with low Kv and High volts as this gives less heat. Thats why the VXL motor gives a lot less heat as it is 3500Kv - so even though you have to gear it higher it seems to stay cooler overall. I have had a lot of fun with my mamba max's over the last 8 months and have had no trouble - the only issue is that I always have to stop because the motor gets too hot not because the battery runs out.... I just want care free running so I don't have to worry that I'm frying the motor after 10 mins! I am pretty careful with my meshing - as a beginner I stripped a few spur gears - but learnt from my mistakes! As for gearing - if you stick a 23t pinion in you get about 3-4 mins before over heating!! Even with 18t it is hard to get 10 mins constant high speed driving without heat issues.
