  1. I get that but I don't understand why it's a problem. No idea why all the cars would have a battery fitted and all be turned on at the same time.
  2. Have you looked at the Crossrc range? I really like the look of those and like RCs in kit form. Bit pricey but the specs are good.
  3. I would have expected any other bound receiver in other rcs to not be powered when using the chosen rc's receiver really. 🤔 Normally you wouldn't have them all fitted with a battery and switched on at the same time.
  4. I missed the 1/10 part 😶
  5. This should download the part numbers list for it. https://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/diagrams/HoBao/Pirate/Pirate_Sport_MT_Exploded_View.pdf
  6. H84166 is the tyres I think. Wheels might be a 17mm hex if you can others same size and offset to fit. Have you got a parts diagram showing the part numbers etc? I've found one, just need to sort out uploading it here.
  7. Surely just fill them upsidedown? Probably more fiddly than the conventional type but still doable.
  8. Brushless is never the quietest when turning slowly or by hand is it. 👍
  9. I'm pretty sure that the way you describe the original noise is normal for brushless RCs. Noisy when pushed but a lot quieter when driven normally.
  10. I've just realised its a brushless motor isn't it? Brushless is always more noisy than a brushed motor, could just be that maybe.
  11. The pinion against spur being too tight is a lot worse than having a bit of play. Depends how much play you have, any chance of a video showing it? Hold the motor pinion completely still and show how much the spur moves back and forth. Most people set the gap using thin card/couple of thicknesses of paper. After a while you learn to set the clearance by eye. I have had a couple of RCs in the past which had not adjustable motor mounts. Mesh can be altered by slightly filing one screw hole until a little bit elongated. If they are tapered head screws, still elongate the hole but then fit a 'normal' head screw.
  12. About time 😁 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/thhJhBdYuA1GSa8W/
  13. Managed to get time to do some more on the Blackout MT. Got the rear diff and housing rebuilt. (I was curious...it weighs 822 grammes)
  14. If you rotate one wheel and the opposite wheel turns in the opposite direction, it has a diff. Or, if thick fluid in diff, hold one wheel stationary and if can rotate the opposite wheel fully then it has a diff. As others have said, 90 degrees of slack on one wheel isn't anything to worry about. When driven by the motor it all works in a different way and the slack won't matter.
  15. Those hpi wr8's are amazing cars. I keep regretting selling mine.
  16. On the arms, where the sticking out parts are on the chassis. Not sure if the stock plastic arms have the hole for the grub screws but the aftermarket arms did.
  17. Hi, I sold it a while ago to fund other things. I did make cardboard templates first but will have binned these sorry. When I made them I just did lots of measuring and trimming the cardboard until it was almost touching the bodyshell.
  18. Is every grub screws tight on drive cups, axles etc?
  19. Or maybe it's tapped for the next size up of grub screws...
  20. Well, the unplanned drop test wasn't ideal 😐
  21. Also did this today. Drilled and tapped for grub screws, added flats to layshaft. To stop the risk of the square thingy ever spinning on the shaft instead of rotating the bearings. Saw someone mention it on youtube, his cure though was to glue the square onto the shaft...
  22. You might be lucky and have the machined gears, do they have holes around the centres? Like mv24155 Or mv24156 Both super rare, expensive, and hard to find, somewhere between hens teeth and rocking horse ****. Highest chance of buying some is importing from Australia it seems. The 'common' type, which are solid gears, are the compressed powdered metal. They are strong but not as strong as the ones above. I'm going to run the gears I have until they break, then going to try to convert to either belt or chain drive. I found some parts which should fit with a bit of fettling. I forget the price but I think it came to £30 ish for the belt parts and a little bit more for the chain parts.
  23. Yes definitely prefer those wheels 👍
