  1. Hmmm there maybe a possibility of a Super Lasernut that's based on the new 8ight RTR. Apparently Tower hobbies has posted a couple of parts that cross over to a Super Lasernut.

I've had a look and it looks like they've adjusted it. A super Lasernut does pique my interest though.

IMHO the Lasernut just looks sooo good!

I’ve thought about getting one several times but always managed to  stop myself, after re-watching video of people spending a small fortune to make them reliable.

Maybe one based on an 1/8 buggy platform would finally hook me, haha!

  2. electronic resistors, any idea what rating i would need to drop 8v dc to 5v dc

      Hi

Probably popped the resistors, rather than the leds.

Different colour led have different forward (on) voltages. White led have a forward volt drop of 3 to 3.5 volts. This is pretty constant once illuminated, more current makes them a little brighter and hotter, but the volt drop consistent. Any extra power is dealt with by the series resistors.

The 9v leds will just have a different value resistor, 100ohm 1/2w for 2 white led in parallel, assuming 30ma on current each.

      Cheers

      Hi

Just for completeness, the resistor wattage would be calculated by multiplying the current by the volt drop, I x V.

They can get hot, fine if there are only a couple of led’s but the 9v option is best if there are lots of them.

      Cheers

      Hi

You need to know the current draw, so you can work it out and get the correct wattage resistor, regardless of its value in ohm’s.

Hope that helps, can do calf’s with ohms law, V=IR.  V would be the volt drop, I the current draw and R the resistor value.

      Cheers

2 weeks ago for me, AZ vaccine.  I felt a little fizzy for couple of days, like expecting a new toy, turned up to 11! Absolutely as normal as I can be since. Hope it’s the same for you all!
