    Radio Advice

Hi The Dumborc 350 is quite new, so UK supplies unlikely. Through eBay, mine came in a week. I bought it as I already have a Dumborc radio with 5 or 6 receivers and wanted the adjustability and model memory that the new radio has. Other than that, I’m more than happy with my GT5, as others are happy with the GT3. I think you are right that the NT4 is a higher quality model, though I’ve not held one. The GT5 and Dumborc 350 feel solid in the hand too. As for receivers, you need units that match the TX protocol of your radio. Dumborc use their version of FHSS, Flysky use AFHDS, AFHDS 2, AFHDS 3 and ANT, depending on which radio in the range you choose. GT5 is AFHDS2, Noble is AFHDS3, as an example. There is a chart on the Flysky website that shows which TX works with which RX. That is true for most radio’s, which can be considered as systems, though the Radiolink MT12 uses the EdgeTX operating system and a TX module which is capable of working across different TX protocols, so will work with receivers from different manufacturers. Unless you “need” this functionality, it’s probably overkill for most. They’re all great when compared to the AM 27MHz and FM 40MHz system used 20 years ago! The receivers for some of these systems can be quite expensive, so it’s worth checking that out too, if you think you will be expanding your fleet, haha! Please feel free to keep asking questions, there are lots of knowledgeable people on here whom love to help make having RC models a great experience. Cheers

Hi While I’ve never used a Noble NB4, it looks to be a quality radio which is convertible for left and right handed use. It gets neat receiver’s with integrated antennas and uses a TX protocol that has very low latency, which makes it used by some as a “race” radio. You’ll be happy with any of those options. Cheers

    Radio Advice

Hi The Flysky GT5 is decent quality, has all the adjustments you’d need, has multi model memory and receivers are not too expensive. Has to an option on your list. I have just received a Dumborc ddf350, which is similar in price etc to the Flysky GT5, also worth a look. A cheaper option would be the CT8 currently on offer at Rlaarlo? Not used one but reviews are good. The Radiolink mt12 gets good reviews but is pushing your budget. Lots others will have had experience of, I’m sure they’ll suggest other options too. Hope that helps and enjoy your models!
  5. Hi Please can I ask, is there a UK supplier for the Rock Pirates frame rails, or did you have to import them from USA? Cheers Steve
  6. The “Tomley” review looks to confirm what Lone-Wolf say’s.
  7. Too many shelf queens and need space for winter projects, so here is my Kyosho ReRe Turbo Optima for sale. Built to box art with upgraded titanium turnbuckles, alloy steering assembly, alloy front “c” hubs, alloy inner turnbuckle mounts, alloy top deck holders and front cvd driveshafts. There is an after market undertray fitted. Included but not fitted is a carbon fibre top deck and alloy rear hub carriers. Never run. All the un-used original parts included. There is a small repair to the shell where I touched up a paint blemish and got over enthusiastic with abrasives. Please see the photos for a better idea. Electronics wise, there is a Hobbywing Max10 esc connected to a Surpass Hobby Platinum 3650 3600kv motor. The servo is a 25kg DS3225. There is no radio fitted but can include a Dumbo receiver if you use their system. No transmitter though. To fit the Max10, the fan has been moved to the top deck, as esc space is very tight on these chassis! The included carbon top deck is there to put it back to standard if needed. Looking for £170 posted.
  8. Here is my Tamiya TD2 Astute 2022, up for sale to fund new projects. Built but never used, painted to box art. It has a Tamiya/Hobbywing 1060 brushed esc paired with a Tamiya Superstock BZ motor installed. There is also an Injora low profile 14kg servo fitted. Upgrades installed are cvd driveshaft’s, slipper clutch, alloy rear suspension holder and the Tamiya DF03/TT02B alloy upgrade shocks. The shocks have the kit springs fitted. Please note that the slipper spur gear is 48p, not Mod 0.6 like the kit spur. Not fitted but included, spare set of kit wheels with Schumacher tyres fitted which were intended for when running the car, upgrade carbon rear shock tower, gear diff, sway bars, turnbuckles to replace the front suspension push rods and springs for the upgrade shocks. All the unused and original parts are there too. This has sat on a shelf in the garage since building and has no radio gear installed, so will need radio and batteries to run. Would like £160 posted.
  9. Pinecone Models Mini Saloon in used condition. This is the Pro brushless version. A couple of body repairs at the front but overall in good condition. Oil shocks fitted and an extra battery included, along with all the original parts. Looking for £25, as need to clear some space.
  10. Hi Interested in this post, more as it revolves around rally bodies vs chassis, rather what might perform best off-road? If you prefer the Escort, being a child of the ‘70’s, leaves it with a short wheelbase vs overall length, when compared to ‘90’s and later hatchback and 4wd vehicles. This, my opinion of course, means that an Escort shell on a 257mm wheelbase like the TT02/XV0x etc is not in correct proportion to look right. I’d guess that is why Tamiya stick to M chassis for Escort models. The MB01, M06 or M08 chassis with the Tamiya Mk2 shell if I was building an Escort. Again, just my opinion and sorry if speaking out of turn! Cheers Steve
  11. For sale, an Eachine TX16S radio transmitter, made by Radiomaster currently running EdgeTX v2.9.1 software. Same electronics as Radiomaster TX16S, with a different arrangement of the front panel buttons and easy access to gimbal throw and tension adjustments. Colour touchscreen still has protective film applied and has a screen protector included in the box. Only seen light use indoors, for simulator and fixed pitch training heli. Comes with a spare gimbal. Rechargeable 18650 batteries installed. Looking for £70 posted.
  12. Hi For sale, an XK K110S boxed and never used. This is the Bind And Fly model, with no TX radio. It comes with all its accessories, 3 batteries, one is in the heli, spare blades, drive gear and a couple of tools. Looking for £50 posted.
  13. I enjoyed the build of my Kyosho Dirt Master. It drives very well and looks the part of an old school buggy, based on a race machine in the final rear motor era. Changed the tyres to work better on dirt and upgraded the shocks and rear hinge in holders, ‘coz they were half the UK price from Plaza Japan, think it looks great too!
  14. Hi Don’t know if you got fixed up with one of these, but if not, I have a Pinecone Models Mini, a brushless Pro version. I’ve fitted oil shocks and upgraded the servo to a JX pdi-1181mg. There are 2 batteries and original box with accessories. The box is a little battered, but it arrived from China like that. Fully working with a couple of repaired cracks in the body and the lights reinstated as I removed them. If your interested, I can post photos for you. Looking for £30 posted. Cheers Steve
  15. There was an upgrade for the drive cups from V1 to V2 and now I think there are Swiss Spring Steel versions fitted. Suspect this is common, try Corally, they might be willing to help with the cost of the upgraded parts? Best of luck! Steve
  16. This should help? It must be similar to an EMB-1?
  17. Hi Just finished building my BHC-1, so here is a picture of it next to it’s big brother, an EMB-T. The BHC is a great kit, but space for electronics is tight, take a look.
  18. Hi Just had a bad experience, trying to sell my old bike on Gumtree. Interested party didn’t turn up on the day, but we were woken at 04:30, 2 days later, by somebody trying to get into my garage! No chance it was the same person off of Gumtree? Anywho, my old bike is a 26’er and having been using my son’s 29’er, want to move on to something more modern, not that there is actually anything wrong with my old bike really. Just want something to get me back on the bike to get fitter and shift a few pounds. Had many mtb over the years, starting with a Raleigh Dynatech Pro then to on fs with am AMP B3. What are considered good xc bikes now, geometry has changed so much since my “Dynatech Pro”? Thinking of spending upto £3.5k. Cheers
  19. Hi I am in the process of fitting the motor and have decided to start with a 19t pinion, thinking that it should give good punch with a fair top speed, using a 4400kv motor? Well, the combination Surpass 28mm diameter motor with 19t pinion wouldn’t move close enough for a good mesh with the spur gear, so I’ve made a slight modification, removing the thin web from the spur guard where it wraps around the gearbox input and filing a little off the gearbox casing. It’s possible to get a good mesh down to an 18t pinion now, maybe even a17t. This is what I found and with a Surpass 2838 motor, it might be different for you, but I’d check this before fitting the gearbox to the chassis, otherwise you might have to take it apart, as I did. The kit included 21t would mesh without this modification. I originally had a 2435 motor in as a test, there were no problems there. Hope this help’s somebody?
  20. Great that DMS are looking after you with the servo! I ordered a 135f servo from DMS yesterday and it arrived this morning. I’ve got it in a driving state now, 16bl30, 2435 3900kv from Udirc with 19 tooth pinion. It spins about the garage floor quite nicely. Not been able to paint the body as it won’t stop raining. I’ve got a couple of weeks, waiting for the 2838 motor to arrive, so hopefully we’ll see some dry mild weather before then, so I can put some paint on it. All good! Hope you get your’s running again soon. Cheers
  21. The Surpass stuff is showing as shipped, no stopping it now haha! The UDIRC Pro cogs real bad in standard form, over geared I think, but runs much better with the 16bl30 with punch and timing adjusted, might just leave it and try a 10bl60 in the BHC if it’s compact enough? I’ll get my ruler out. Missed the system that @Lone-wolf was selling, I did look but thought my plan was suitable. Thanks for the advice!
