  1. A set of as new bead locks from @Hell horn. 👍
  2. I found the 550 12T Crawlmaster had plenty of power, in fact enough to chew the gears…! Trying a 35T Trailmaster presently and it’s lost the urge (it’s is a540 though) but the drag brake effect is far better.
  3. I must say though @Hell horn. Toyota looks perfect 👍
  4. Dodged the storms and spent an hour looking for mud 😉 IMG_4004.MOV I bought this Scout to figure/learn what my crawler wish list was, then buy something better once I’d killed it, but this things easy and cheap to fix and you don’t feel guilty ragging it 😂 I chewed the gears, and it was under £4 for a new set 👍 I will say the Holmes 35T Trailmaster I’ve dropped in is far better in this terrain than the Crawlmaster, mainly for the drag brake effect.
  5. With half a wood chassis I bet it wooden half go 😉
  6. The Element range seems to be the one I reckon, thought the Land Rover Discovery MST are bringing out does look nice. https://www.asiatees.com/display?MST-CFX-WS-Parts-Hop-Ups-Upgrades&brand=MST&model=CFX-WS&id=189600&pid=1
  7. It would look great with a Tyrell 6 wheel drive paint scheme too!
  8. Found some huge washers, 55mm, thought I’d make some redneck diff guards 😁 All I can smell is burning stainless (and that was with good drill bits and oil!) I hope they don’t cause more damage than their worth…
  9. Just the advice I was hoping for 👍
  10. Anybody used one of these blue glue sticks? Any good? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Loctite-248-Medium-Strength-Stick/dp/B002T96AAY/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=thread+lock+stick&qid=1628167559&sr=8-4
  11. Got round to assembling my Radshape antique chassis and rag bag of Maverick/FTX/HSP parts into this: Wheels are just rollers, waiting on a few parts I’ve frustratingly got to pay full price for 😂 Mauler hex extenders and some longer shocks incoming. Aiming for an old school 80’s monster truck so bigger wheels + tyres and a shell still on the list, I’m in no rush.
  12. It’s worse than that I’m a HV electrician by trade 😂
  13. Neither! 3000 nimh 7.2 stick pack today - none of this 21st century Li-po witchcraft 😉 No worries about discharging and to be honest an hours crawling does me fine.
  14. So first impression is plenty of torque, and a far better drag brake than the HH crawl master. Just quicker than walking pace on 2.2’s. Obviously it’s filthy again 😂
  15. Motor back in, hopefully the perfect trail walking pace this time 👍 XT60’s on the ESC on the to-do list!
  16. A little Red ‘N’ Tacky running report 👍 RC a Maverick Scout crawler used a couple of times a week minimum (for at least hour). I packed the axles after purchase 3 months ago so I reckon about 40 miles use. As you can see it’s given a fair bit of exercise, been submerged through rivers, mud etc and usually just rinsed off with the hose and GT85 sprayed. It looked like this: The insides looked like this: Pretty clean, some discolouring of the grease by the end of the driveshafts, but grit free and no water inside. I gave everything a good scrub, and I’m only intending to replace the bearings on the end of the axle case and the prop outlet bearing - they spin freely, no grinding , but you can tell they have lived there useful service life. As you can see they cleaned up well and were regular rather than rubber shielded bearings. So I’m a nutshell it seems to work, dirt cheap off Amazon too, about £8 delivered.
  17. So new motor, new gears, two new prop bearings, some grease and a motor plate & cover off a fury (as I’ve almost lost a small nieces fingers in the old set up!) But hey the case and propshafts survived 😁 I even managed to solder it cleanly! Trouble is I’m pulling the rest of the Scout apart now…
  18. Some gears! Which bearing in mind what I did earlier to my poor gearbox is just spooky! Asiatees with no customs hit 😎
  19. No in Scout - you can’t always floor your way out of trouble after all 😂
  20. Holmes hobbies crawler motor 1 - Chinese gearbox 0 😂
  21. Some metal body mounts for my niece’s Pumpkin and some beadlocks that look easy to clean - except there matte finish 😭😆
  22. Scaled the Bamboo jungles 😳😁 You can’t make a dent in the stuff! I’m thinking about making chassis links out of it 😉 I've also been experimenting with Li-Ion battery’s, this trial one had just under and hours run time (it hadn’t gone flat either), and that was trialing/mud plugging/being a big kid so nothing gentle at all. Holmes 550 12T the load and a 2200mah if anyone’s interested, half the length and weight of an equivalent size nimh. Very happy and a larger mah next 👍
  23. Sounds good, the Kamtec shell is usefully thick but so many curves will test your patience! Heres my Kamtec Scorcher: x
