  1. Awesome video @J.K That looks a great bash spot for the Kraton. Nice & wide open and nothing too big so less likely to break stuff
  2. Good stuff mate, it's certainly got some decent power πŸ‘ & it really does like to roll doesn't it πŸ˜„ Hopefully the sway bar will help a lot with that
  3. Heheh, well it wouldn't be a proper first run without a crash now would it 😜 I'm interested to see the footage though as I had assumed that these rigs were a bit weighty and needed the 4s. Just looked up the specs and they're 3.3kg so not too heavy at all actually. Guess it's gonna be pretty speedy with the extra cell.
  4. Looks fantastic! Only a 2 hour drive for me so I think i'll be coming along ☺️
  5. Looks great out there @.AJ. How did the maiden voyage go?
  6. Hi mate, I'd recommend replacing it with one of these: https://uk-m.banggood.com/DSSERVO-DS3225-25KG-180-Degree-Metal-Gear-High-Torque-Waterproof-Digital-Servo-For-RC-Airplane-Robot-Car-p-1353688.html?rmmds=search&act_poa=SKUA31092x01&cur_warehouse=CN 25kg of power so will be much better than the standard 9kg servo that ZD put in their 1/8th models. I have a Pirates 3 truggy and i'm going to use this exact servo when I get round to fixing it up. EDIT: After seeing the posts below and re-reading your post i've realised it's just the receiver you need. But I can highly recommend the servo linked above. Great value for money and makes the steering a whole lot better on these models πŸ‘
  7. I hope so bud! Only time will tell... but i'll be the first one to admit I was wrong if they do end up breaking. Mine definitely didn't come with HD axles as they were the first things to break on mine. 2 of them very bent after just two outings. I replaced with the hardened versions & they've been good as gold ever since. But if the newer batches are coming fitted with HD axles already then that's very good news πŸ‘
  8. @foxycub Fair comment mate πŸ‘ But as I stated a few posts above I believe that I have the newer versions on my Quantum. And it seems the improvements that Maverick have made to the arms have had quite the effect. I reckon most of the broken ones you've seen will be the original weaker arms, but anyone who orders a Quantum now will get the better ones.
  9. This makes me think that my Quantum must have the improved mk2 arms as they seem to be holding up really well. Another thing I forgot to mention to you @Seminole81 is the turnbuckle rod ends. It may be worth getting a full set of them aswell. Though I only broke a rod end on mine after a huge jump and many many cartwheels down a hillside, so if your son doesn't bash it too hard then they'll most likely be fine.
  10. Nice one @mydoddy69 looks really nice mate Hope it lives up to expectations 🀞
  11. Yes buddy those are the ones πŸ‘ Haha, yes, very true mate. There seems to be alot of that on this forum πŸ˜‹
  12. @Seminole81 Good choice mate I've never broken any suspension arms on mine, and it gets bashed pretty hard. So not sure what the big fuss about them breaking is πŸ€” Seems like it's mainly coming from people who don't actually own one and have maybe just seen people on YouTube break them. What you will need though is HD axles, because these do bend really easily. Also, as said above, HD drive shafts are a good idea too πŸ‘
  13. Hello drew, welcome to the forum mate
  14. Well hopefully you can find the one you're looking for. It's always worth a little peruse because you never know what'll pop up. Yeah, bicycle prices skyrocketed at the beginning of the lockdown as people tried to cash in on the temporary cycling craze, but prices are gradually coming back down to earth again now. And you're welcome mate, any time πŸ‘
  15. I've edited my post above with a couple of Ebay links for you. One of those listings is offering delivery for Β£60 so you will likely find more sellers who will post. Just depends if you're happy to pay it but you will still be spending less than buying a new bike & also getting something much higher spec.
  16. If you have a budget of Β£700 you'd be much better off buying something second hand (if that's an option for you?) You can find many, slightly older but really nice, well specced full sus MTB's on Ebay & the likes for well within your price range. I bought a 2008 Yeti 575 a couple years ago for Β£375, Fox suspension all round, top of the range shimano drivetrain/cranks, Hope Pro 2 hubs etc. Easily a Β£3000+ bike when new, and it was in lovely condition. Have a little look around at second hand stuff before buying new because you will get ALOT more for your money if you're willing to sacrifice having that 'brand new' bike feeling. EDIT: Here's a few I found after a few mins searching, just to give you an idea of what's out there πŸ‘ https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marin-Attack-6-7-Full-Suspension-Downhill-Enduro-Mountain-Bike-rockshox-17-5/284191942492?hash=item422b28e75c%3Ag%3A~IAAAOSwuzFgKsPG&LH_ItemCondition=4 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Giant-Full-Suspension-Mountain-Bike/284212033430?hash=item422c5b7796%3Ag%3AFyoAAOSwiI9gFTQo&LH_ItemCondition=4 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boardman-Full-Suspension-16-Mountain-Bike/274711287992?hash=item3ff61198b8%3Ag%3Ahf8AAOSwHtxgRTbn&LH_ItemCondition=4
  17. What an awesome bit of kit! 😍 You've done a nice job on the shell too. Very cool RC you have there my friend πŸ‘
  18. Yes you can turn it down on the transmitter, very handy for younger kids when they're just learning to drive. It's not the same for all RC's though. Some cheapies won't have that function, but then they're unlikely to be very fast models any way. The XLF I would also not recommend. My friend has one & he broke it within the first 15 minutes. He fixed it up, brought it out again a week later and then it broke again, in a different way, in the first 10 minutes. Baring in mind that these were only pretty minor crashes it was really quite disappointing for my friend, who is also fairly new to the hobby. Now I know everybody's experience will differ, but because of what i've seen I would just stay clear of them. They aren't much cheaper than the Quantum any way, which quality wise is leaps & bounds above.
  19. You're welcome mate. Yes, the brushed version might be a better option for your son as it won't be quite as fast (20-25mph maximum). I'm pretty sure that it's just the electronics that differ between the brushed & brushless versions, and all other components are the same. What you will find though is that although the brushed motor will be slower, it will actually drain the batteries faster, so you won't be getting the 45min - 1 hour run times that you're after. But of course than can be solved by simply buying 3 or 4 batteries. Nimh batteries are quite a bit cheaper than lipos though so will probably cost you about the same as buying two 2s lipos.
  20. The Maverick Quantum flux is well worth the money. Quality is pretty good and they are great for a beginner especially if just running on a 2s lipo. I'd stay away from the FTX Carnage as myself & many others here on the forum have had bad experiences with them.
  21. Awesome line up of prizes there @Nick I certainly wouldn't mind the Python! 😍
  22. @fuegan13 Looks really good with the MX5 shell mate πŸ‘ now all you need to do is paint the wheels black πŸ˜‰
