  1. Radio, batteries (one for TX) and a hop up for the HoBao DC-1
  2. After spending a good chunk of yesterday making a new office desk/build area, i finally started putting things together about 1 am this morning. I got as far as the assembling the 2 speed box and called it quits. Continued this afternoon and got to assembling the chassis rails, and the postie turns up with some bits Just in time to fit the motor I've gone a different route with this and went for a Reedy Radon 16T 5slot. If I've read thing right I should have the speed of the 35T 3 slot, but with a bit more finesse at the start-up. Just run it in on the bench for an hour at 5v Aaaand, I get why you guys said the meshing of the motor is a faff....... it is! Time to continue.....................
  3. A batch of bits to go with the HoBao DC-1
  4. What are you guys using for a main light kit? I've got a link to the lightbar from @everclear1984 build thread, but it's bewildering trying to find the right head and tail light combo. I'll be using the extra channels on the transmitter to switch them on/off so have a couple of controllers bookmarked. Nice bit of father son rivalry there @Stormbringer @Yrkoon
  5. Well that's everything now ordered, so I think by the end of next week I'll actually be able to start putting things together. The build will be done in the spare room, once I sort a desk out. @Yrkoon That's a good video, I think I've got his build bookmarked. Thanks for the extra tips, I'll keep an eye out for when i need them. And just briefly coming back to the fishtank (sorry), @Stormbringer If you did get the tank from PetsatHome, it's unlikely to be a Clearseal, as they only supplied them with basic tanks any nothing over 2 foot.
  6. Back on topic, I should be ordering the rest of the parts to complete the DC1 tomorrow. Just need to create a build space!
  7. Cheers both. It looked very similar to a Clearseal setup, and it brought back memories. I worked there for 30 years up until 4 years ago when I moved from Birmingham to Bridgend.
  8. @Yrkoon Completely off topic, but what brand is that fish tank. I'm curious as it looks familiar 👍
  9. HoBao DC1 First kit build for a number of years
  10. Its ariiiiiived 😊😊 I know you all know what the box looks like but...........because 😊
  11. Mine is being delivered tomorrow 😁😁😁 Wheels preview
  12. When things start to come together, instead of doing a full build thread like @Stormbringer and @everclear1984 have done, I'll post changes or differences to their builds. I've got a couple of things I want to try with the paint scheme so I'll put them in too. I always knew I'd get one so prematurely I ordered some alloy beadlocks from Ebay and tyres that @Stormbringer linked to earlier in this thread. I'll post them when it comes to it in the build schedule. Can't wait now, and I feel like a kid in anticipation of Christmas 🤣
  13. Yaaay, finally joined the club Just ordered the kit from Modelsport, made possible by a lovely birthday gift from my sister. The rest of the bits will be ordered when my other funding is sorted. 😁
  14. I realise now that I was modifying my RC4GS for no reason. Had I actually READ the manual, or had a faff with the settings I'd have found out that the push button can be set to momentary (stock) or position1/position2 with each press. DOH! Oh well, I'll update to the RC6GS when I finally get to order Coming along nicely there dude
  15. I read somewhere (maybe Dumbo RC's site) that the Dumbo RC Radios are made by Radiolink. You get the range etc of their stuff, but lose the screens to make them cheaper. Yep Link Here http://www.dumborc.com/en/
  16. Nothing to the actual car, but I have a Fastrax 'multi bit' tool kit that has a case that I hate. PITA to get the bits back in once they're out so........ I printed a new one! The sponge stops the bits falling out when the lid is closed
  17. I really like the channel and its sister channel Berm Peak primarily for its mountain bike content which is also a passion of mine. There's no BS, no agenda, and he says when content is sponsored. When he reviews stuff if he thinks its crap he'll say so.
  18. This channel normally does mountain bike content, but recently has started to do some RC stuff too. Here Seth makes a micro crawler 'park' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1XMJwiAENE
  19. Not wanting to derail this thread but is the brushed/brushless compatibility unique to this ESC or will any brushless ESC run a brushed motor similarly. Having only run brushed motors with mechanical speed controllers before 'back in the day', and miniscule experience with brushless systems, I'm genuinely curious.
  20. Ok so Scratch my last post here, this ESC works with both brushed and brushless motors. Learn something new every day 😁
  21. I noticed something in the pic that may or may not be an issue. its a brushless ESC (you mentioned an unused orange wire, and it says it on the sticker), but unless I'm mistaken its the stock brushed motor. Any of you more experienced guys comment here. I have only ever had 1 brushless car which was a Carnage, but that came set up brushless. Will how it is set up cause the OP problems?
  22. Think the servo and ESC leads are in the wrong places. Unplug them and looking at the above pic, plug the servo into the bottom slot (CH1) and the ESC lead into the next one up (CH2) See if that works
  23. There is the familiarity thing with the 6 channel. Can't seem to find just the transmitter though so I would have 4 receivers in total! 🤣 Downside is that the receivers are not waterproof
  24. On a side note, what radios are you guys using? As i mentioned I was going to mod an existing switch on my Radiolink RC4GS......well that didn't go so well. Managed to cut the aerial cable during the partial re assembly (don't ask!!) so now its FUBAR Thinking of alternatives, I've got the 6 channel version of the above in mind but(around £80 with 2 receivers) but any worthy alternatives around the same price, considering that if you pick the 'power bundle 2' at Modelsport you get a 3 channel Absima CR3P and 1 receiver
