  1. Thanks Andy. Need to put it through its paces now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Pretty much finished now. Here’s some pics Went with Tamiya Black & Racing Green finished with Flat Clear. Found some nice 3D printer files for fenders & door plates, finished in Satin Black. Installed the Club5 Chase Rack on the bed too, so the shell is nice & solid. Installed the MyTrickRC Enduro light set and 5” light bar. And here’s the finished rig with a little bench flex next to the SCX10 II. Will be installing a servo winch, inner fenders and possibly some rock lights in the future. Thanks for looking.
  3. Been beavering away with the body shell today. Was so engrossed I didn’t take any photos during the process. There are still a few things to do though, so I’ll make sure I take some photos tomorrow.
  4. Thanks Carl There are a couple of mounting positions on the Samix hoops that allow for an angled shock mounting position, so would that bring the chassis level down a little?
  5. Thanks Andy. As for the links, looks like I’ll be turning them around then! 😬
  6. Had a lot of fun finishing my chassis build today. Here’s a few photos. Rear high clearance links. These Club5 links are nice and solid and are well finished. Here’s the high clearance links before fitting the shocks. My OCD is in full force here. While it seems shock building isn’t high on some people’s list of enjoyable parts of this hobby, I’ll have to admit that it is for me. Must be all the small parts coming together. Before... After... These shocks are really nice (in my limited experience) and feel lovely and smooth. Needed a spacer at the top - which you get with the Samix shock towers. I also added some SSD rear axle weights to balance out the heavy SSD knuckles on the front. Wheels on - RC4WD beadlocks with Proline Hyrax tyres - and CCHand “Rhinoguard” front and rear bumpers courtesy of Club5Racing finish the job of the chassis build. So, onto painting the body and adding lights and a servo winch once they arrive in the post. Thanks for looking
  7. I’ve installed them as Club5 photos and they look ok to me, but hey, what do I know?
  8. Been fiddling around with the Sendero body shell, waiting for a few more bits to arrive - which they did today, so on with the chassis build. Some brass diff covers and 8mm brass wheel hex from Club5Racing were added to the hard plastic axle housings, together with SSD brass knuckles. All went together nicely, adding a bit of weight low down to keep this build (hopefully) planted. Then on to the Club5 high clearance links and steering links. The links come with nickel plated brass hollow balls, which is nice. Only had time to do the front links. I’ll get the rear links and build the shocks tomorrow. Thanks for looking
  9. “Value engineered” maybe? Still a nice kit though and as I’ve said earlier, lots of spare bits for another build. Been looking at these chassis rails to be getting on with: https://deadloc-racing.myshopify.com/products/the-dredge-lcg-chassis-tier-1-pre-sale-1
  10. Finally got the last pieces for this build. So off we go! Those Team KNK people certainly know how to package their product. Appeals to my OCD nature! The grey pieces are the Enduro hard plastic parts, plus the Bowhouse low cg battery tray. All went together very nicely. I like the contrast of the s/s screws against the black too. Here’s a closeup of those Samix shock towers. Very nicely machined. And the final bit for today was the Savox servo installation. Used a couple of cable ties to route the cable to the receiver box. Boy do these servos come with a long cable! Thanks for looking
  11. I’ve got them set up with the short & medium length springs either side of the damper piston, so 19mm is about right. The shorter springs keeps the travel distance down. You can change that to a single long internal spring in the main shock body - that’ll give you more travel & you get soft, medium & hard springs for each size, so plenty of fine tuning can be done. I’m happy with it so far - just finished the installation & only whizzed round the garden. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thought I’d give this build a bit of an upgrade. Don’t think I’ll go with the Samix weights & brass knuckles together right now, so I’ll just install the knuckles. Looking forward to seeing how the Desert Lizard shocks perform Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. So, I was a bit premature on the build as I’m still waiting on a couple of final bits to start the build. They’re more of a “nice to have” thing rather than a “need them to start the build” thing. I’ve just paid a customs charge for bits I ordered from Amain, so they will land on Thursday. In the meantime - and in the spirit of providing info that may well bore the pants off you - I thought I’d give you a list of what’s going into the build. Here goes: Element RC Enduro Builder’s Kit Element RC Enduro hard plastic axle housings Element RC Enduro hard plastic mounting plates Element RC Enduro hard plastic gearbox & servo mounts Bowhouse Enduro low cg battery tray SSD Enduro brass knuckles Samix front & rear shock plates Team KNK Enduro s/s screw kit Hobbywing 1080 ESC Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport 13T motor Savox SW-2210SG waterproof servo Element RC Enduro Sendero body shell & body accessories Element RC Enduro Sendero inner fenders GMade GS01 front bumper with silver skid plate Still thinking about lights and maybe a light bar. Might be nice to get some rock lights too. Have been in touch with MyTrickRC about a light set as I like the look of their stuff ie. nice & bright! I saw some “Husky Link” hi-clearance suspension links & steering links on the Club5 website which look good too. Thoughts about that would be appreciated. Had a nice idea about the paint job for the bodyshell too, but I’ll leave the reveal on that once it’s painted. Looking at what I’ll have left over with the upgrade parts, it’s got me thinking that I could start a second (third) build. But I’d still need to buy chassis rails, transmission, links, diff & pinion gears, drive shafts...🤔... but there’s that nice Axial ‘67 Chevy C10 body... I wonder if it’ll fit the Enduro chassis... all I can hear is the sound of a cash register ker-ching-ching-chinging 😂
  14. Moving on from my first scale crawler build, I picked up this kit & some upgrades from the “For Sale” section of this forum. There are some “other bits” on the way (hopefully this week) but I’ll dive in anyway. You like a build thread...right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks @CarlC Might do something with a bit more pattern on the Sendero body
  16. Thanks. Really pleased with how the chrome came out, especially the bonnet.
  17. Thanks. It’s Core RC Fire Red backed with Tamiya Gun Metal PS23
  18. All done. Really enjoyed painting this body. Certainly looking forward to doing another lexan shell as & when the need arises. Sits nicely on the chassis. Can’t wait to take it out!
  19. ...so I’ve decided to go the lexan route. Thought I might as well give it a go as the Enduro build will have a lexan body. Needed to practice on something, so here’s my first attempt. Clearly went for the ‘66 Chevy C10 and after watching a few Hemistorm videos, I took the plunge. Trimmed the body and sanded the edges to smooth out any small rough areas. Here it is with the rear bed masked after I cut the post mount holes. Marked up the outside with permanent marker for the different colours, then used a light box to cut all the lines prior to spraying. I used RC Core Chrome backed with Tamiya Black, with the bed and rear panel in black also. Then removed the last of the masking tape and used RC Core Fire Red, backed with Tamiya Gun Metal. Also cut the tape to spray the Chevy name on the rear. For a first effort, I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Hopefully the front will turn out just as well. I did mask out the rear lights, then applied the decals that come with the body shell. So the lexan is clear behind the decals, with a view to installing some lights behind in the future. Thanks for reading 👍🏻
  20. Been a bit busy. Here are a few pics from my visit to the Herts crawler course. I absolutely hammered the body shell! This is not the crawler for this type of thing - the CoG is far too high. Going to need to restore the paintwork
  21. Thanks @CarlC Looking forward to seeing how my build holds up!
  22. So, FTX are releasing a portal axle conversion for the Outback HiRock that can also be used on the Element RC Enduro if you move the steering bar to the front of the axle. Seems interesting. What do you think? https://ftx-rc.com/index.php?_route_=rc-hop-ups/ftx-hi-rock-options/ftx-outback-fury-hi-rock-alloy-portal-axle-conversion-set
