  1. I'm torn between StreetKeeper and SandKeeper although arguably it an interchange between both as it's just wheels and tyres to alter the image. Funnily enough I've been working on the spur gear cover. I've trimmed the end off the spur cover to allow it to fit inside the cage. It's open ended so not fully protected but ag least the actual spur and pinion gears are covered which will help a little. Just need to tidy up the cut then give it a coat of Matt black paint.
  2. So this is what happens when you take a Team Associated DR10 Team Kit drag chassis and mate it with an Element RC Gatekeeper cage........you get the 'StreetKeeper' Much chopping and modding was done to fit the cage. Fuel tank was relocated to the front make way for space to install some future detailing parts in the rear. Even managed to make the DR10 chassis nerf guard mounts into fixings for the cage. The plan is to keep it as an exoskeleton build and do some internal detailing.
  3. So the only thing to note is the tyre is slightly wider than the beadlock so you cant usecthe beadlock rings as there isnt enough side wall to flex a wide tyre onto a narrow rim. The wheel sits nicely inside the MST TCR-M tyres and when fully tightened, the bead doesn't fall off the rim unless you pull it hard. Because there is no ring insert it also makes bolting the wheels together nice and easy. For maximum longevity a narrower ring would help stop the bead popping other wise all good. I cant speak for all M chassis wheel sizes but a 1.55 beadlock is the exact same diameter as the stock TCR-M wheels.
  4. Cheers mate! Body shell is away for shark fat paint as we speak. In the meantime I am fettling with hub offsets, chassis bracing and body mount options. Once complete it will be up for sale then on to the next build 👍
  5. Here's the initial look with the clear body loosely placed. Just need to fettle with the track width of the chassis for a smooth tuck
  6. Anyone got a cheap set of 4mm thick 12mm hexes? I need to experiment with track width alterations. Cheers!
  7. More progress today as a FedEx parcel from China landed earlier than expected! So what you are seeing here is boom racing 1.55 metal beadlocks married up to some nice touring car tyres - the match is perfection. Means I can now build my mkii escort as a restomod running on banded steel wheels ( a bit like the one below) And before anyone tries to linch me for 5 stud wheels, 5 stud conversions have been done in the real world with Sierra, Zephyr and even Volvo parts. May I should move this to the replica page instead?
  8. Made a start on the chassis tonight. Completely forgot just how fiddly building the differential is but got there in the end! Chassis is part built from bags 1 and 2 in 239mm WB. Decided to opt for a mid engine RWD layout. Whilst not true to a real escort it should give a good balance in handling, especially with the battery mounted dead centre and not be completely tail happy. Will make a start on bags 3 and 4 later in the week. In the mean time I need to acquire a servo and motor.
  9. First bundle of parts have rolled in so time to kick the build off 👍
  10. A pre emptive build thread for something that has laid dormant in my mind for quite some time. Parts are inbound though (chassis from drifted.nl, body from appliance electronics and some overnight parts from Hong Kong 😂) so time to see if I can bring the mental vision to reality 🤞
  11. Anyone got an MST TCR-M chassis they wish to part with?
  12. Well here's a big leap in progress. It's finally complete bar a couple of minor extras to be done.
  13. My son wants to sell his Maverixk ION XB to fund his PC build so here it is in all its glory. Fully working and in not bad shape. A little dusty in places from lack of use. Comes with controller and charger so all you need is 4 x AA batteries to get going. Ideal for a young child to get them going in the hobby. One thing to note - The front plastic pin that helps hold the body is slightly broken but it still holds the body in place. Just want to be completely transparent about it that's all. Looking for £30 which will include 2nd class post and paypal fees
  14. Some more incremental progress on the Element Blazer. It won't be some people's cup of tea but I made a pair of dummy steering stabilisers on the Element chassis. Just need to find some black screws to replace the temporary silver ones. Sure I have some in the spares box
  15. I'm pretty sure the F150 is approx 190mm at its widest which is wheel arch to wheel arch.
  16. I'm going to sound like a grumpy old man here and say.......why!!!!!!!! They have taken the original blue RTR blazer, splattered it with brown and then called it the "rust bucket edition" Now to me if your USP is "rust bucket edition" why on earth would you have immaculate chrome work and rear cap? Surely rust bucket is a term coined against a vehicle that is rotten from top to bottom either naturally or for patina effect. Thia combo for me is just confusing. It's high time RC4WD stopped regurgitating Toyotas and Chevy's, spend some money on new body licensing and give the RC community something fresh and new to talk about/play with. Rant over! 😅
  17. There probably is. Something like that or a 4 door Nissan Patrol would have worked better on that WB TBH.
  18. The 1:1 version of the Pajero XL-W is only a 2.35m wheelbase so at 10th scale on a 313mm WB chassis everything is proportionally off and bigger. Now I know most 10th scale crawlers are not true tenth scale but the difference is usually nominal. In this case the difference is huge. I'm with you though, it just doesn't sit right to me. The wheels and tyres look lost under that body. I know there was demand for more 313mm options crom Carisma but I reckon they could have come up with a better body personally. This is all just my 2 pennies worth though anday mean nothing to others.
  19. So in the chase for authenticity what do you do when you see a Lund replica sun visor in lexan but it is too narrow....... Thats right you buy it anyway, chop it up and starting gluing it back together as a bigger version that will fit a 79 bronco hard body. I sure as damn seem to make a lot of work for myself 🥴
  20. You can pretty much imagine that Hoonigan charged a fortune for collaboration and licensing fees and sadly that cost ends up getting washed up on to the customer! DR10 isn't a licensed body hence the cheaper price.
