  1. I completely agree... which is exactly why I'm asking. 😉 I wonder if the parts are so similar you could actually swap some of them out...?
  2. Ridiculous copying and IP issues aside... how are these things actually comparing to their Arrma counterparts?
  3. I was thinking of the 6s model (as that's the one I have), but the 4s and 8s also don't get much of a mention.
  4. I love how absolutely noone has mentioned the Kraton... it's like a dirty word around here it seems Guys are making me want a Senton though.
  5. Assuming the pitch for the gear it connects to in the gearbox is standard, you would think so. Re. the wheelie topic, could that be related to the gearbox instead of direct drive? Perhaps also with the additional weight but still low COG it's also "tamed" the grip a little. My Kraton certainly wheelies on demand even with the stock punch setting and oil in the centre diff. I have upped both of them now and just waiting for a day to test it out.
  6. Right you are... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Titanium-grade-2-shaft-bar-rod-wire-1mm-2-5mm-1-8-10mm-1-2-16mm-20mm-40mm/281747480522?hash=item4199755fca:m:mZ0O-1ryOBOisj5lQfHcn-w
  7. Sure, but I can probably buy 100 stainless/alloy dowels for the price of a couple of titanium ones? Doubt it's worth it. There is a couple of screws I reckon might be worthwhile upgrading to titanium but in the most part I think a combination of S2 and Stainless will do the job just fine.
  8. I have a lot to update this thread on with regards to things I have done, and things I still have to do on the truck, but before I spend the time to really start fleshing it out, I wanted to drop a little note on here incase anyone else is as much of a cheapskate as me. A few posts ago I made a comment that I ordered the wrong pins for the wheel hex... well the correct part (AR713009) is about £5-6 for 4 pieces with postage... obviously the postage can be absorbed if you're ordering other things from any particular store, but alternatively you can just buy: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless-Steel-Dowel-Pins-DIN7-Parallel-Pins-2mm-2-5mm-3mm-4mm-5mm-6mm/254196935764?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=553569315831&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 £2.60 for 10 of 2.5mm steel dowel pins. It's funny how cheap you can actually find stuff once you know the correct name for it.
  9. Looks like a promising option for (relative) cheapskates like me
  10. CA just flicked up into the corner of my eye 😣

Fortunately not in my eye, just the skin right at the side, but it still made for a pretty uncomfortable evening :(

  11. People seem to be a bit disappointed that it's basically a bigger Kraton, but that's exactly what I expected. Seems like the obvious starting point for a new scale platform given the success and reputation of the Kraton as a durable bashing truck. If it 'ain't broke...? Once they have all the parts out, it doesn't take too much for them to make the different versions with slightly different chassis, e.g. Notorious, Talion, Outcast, perhaps even a giant Typhon (but not sure who would buy that?), to please the rest of the audience. Perhaps a bit of an anti-climax if you were expecting them to copy Traxxas.
  12. Turning circle is certainly an issue with my maverick on 2s 3500kv, so far I haven't managed to successfully improve it.
  13. For charging without power, you can buy DC to DC chargers (I have some ISDT Q6 ones), which will take in a wide range of voltages on the input side (e.g. mine take DC 7-32V), and then balance charge up to 6s on the output side. If you really have no option to charge your car from AC, then you can buy one large battery with a massive capacity (I'd say you probably want 3s as a 2s will drop below 7v before it hits the per cell voltage cut off) and charge from the big to the small one. The C rating for discharge of the big battery isn't too important, as I doubt you will be charging at more than 2c on the output, so it's unlikely you will hit the limit of the battery before you hit the limit of the charger. but you do need to keep an eye on the input voltage to make sure it doesn't drop below the cut off voltage for the battery, in my Q6 you can set the minimum input voltage to make sure that doesn't happen. I don't know for sure, but perhaps you can use one of these (edit: or something similar)as the "big" battery. Specs certainly line up, just have to have the correct cable. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-jump-starter-t13-mobile-power-station-20000mah-uk-plug.html
  14. I remember that Mark 2... the one with no suspension... Currently MCM are doing a Yaris which is the weakest series they've done. They clearly don't want to do it, but promised they would, so its minimal effort in terms of actual modding. Cleetus is also another one I enjoy for sure. Daddy of them all is Project Binky... .... anyway, im not buying any more RC's this year.... ...definitely not.
  15. Yeah they have taken it a lot further since it's original inception. Seems i'm not the only person addicted to all the Aussies building motors channels
  16. Reminds me of the Cresta they built on Mighty Car Mods (which is now in the 8s for 1/4 mile IIRC)
  17. A lot of the parts for that kit look awfully similar to the HSP 1/10 parts that you also find in HPI/Maverick/Redcat cars, but slightly modified to be tougher. I'd be interested to know how it handles.
  18. This one popped up in my recommendation feed this morning: I thought the idea of a bag of sand over the top of a breezeblock, so that it would put it self out in the event of a thermal run away, was pretty damn clever.
  19. They test them in the video and they seem to hold up pretty well, but the fume filters are of debatable effectiveness.
  20. How do you get the cables in, do you just use quite long ones, or drill holes in the side or....?
  21. Well the boxes are probably advertised wrongly, and are actually just for 7.62 x 51 (still technically a 30cal round) which is still used in various platforms, rather than the old 30-06 or carbine... they are marked as "new" so I would expect them to be fine for this usage.
  22. Seems to be a pretty good range of options here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Army-Ammo-Storage-Ammunition-Tin-Tool-Box-Various-Sizes-30-Cal-Upwards/282541642135?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Da79072b9cc524ab0b1af081b138abb53%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D8%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D123903845468%26itm%3D282541642135%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2045573&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042 Im thinking even the small 30cal ones would be fine? Edit: Just dont make the mistake of thinking all ammo storage solutions are made equally: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-WOODED-SMALL-ARMS-AMMO-BOX-EMPTY/283466413270?hash=item41ffea34d6:g:VpsAAOSw17paw8eb 😁
  23. Out of pure curiosity, what caliber ammo boxes (if perhaps if were being less interesting, how big are the boxes) does everyone have, and how many batteries do you put in them? Is it better to have lots of fairly small boxes if you have lots of batteries? Quick look on Google seems to suggest you can get boxes used for Mortars 😁
