Hello,
I disagree with Flexiblood, Clutch has nothing to do with idle speed. When on tick over or "Idle" the clutch should be completely out of use. Infact you can run an engine without any clutch installed and it'll run fine.
I haven't had any problems with Trophy Truggies myself I find the 4.6 engine to be not bad at all.
What exactly do you mean it goes like a bat out of hell? It will run faster if you make it leaner and slower if you make it richer. If you're making it lean enough to stall it then you are the problem, not the engine.
Set the needles back to factory settings, Make sure no fuel line is trapped and the throttle all the way closed.
Then start it up, you can adjust the tick over with the dedicated screw under the air filter.
You say it stops when you remove the glowe starter, are you pre heating the engine? You an use a hair dryer or heat gun or just buy a real engine heater for £20 from you local model shop.
The reason it stops when you remove the glow starter is most likely because it's cold outside, and the engine isn't yet warm enough.
Leave the glow starter in until it's warm. I need to ask you what method are you trying to use when breaking it in?
When you tell me, I'll walk you through what to do.
