  1. Bugger it would be the one I haven’t managed to find yet. They did do a model of the newer one but quite a few years back and they don’t make it anymore so might be quite hard to find! I’ll keep looking later this evening, honestly finding something that will fit the Hobao will be pretty difficult as one being a buggy it’s not design to mount touring style bodies without extensive modification to either the Hobao or the body. Someone may come along and suggest a custom builder but I’m not aware of anyone myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. They are both just bodies but if they match his car we can recommend a chassis that would fit either. Not had any joy on the top as of yet though.
  3. This is the bottom model https://www.t2shop.de/epages/61746328.mobile/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61746328/Products/13-ABC-66307&Locale=en_GB
  4. Managed to find a body of this style so far 👍🏻 http://www.rcmart.com/hobby-toyota-190mm-body-touring-drift-66087-p-25787.html?cPath=438_875
  5. First off this is a pretty sweet gift to be looking for 👍🏻 Do you know what year the MR2 is as they changed the body style pretty significantly over the years. Im guessing it’s one of these 3? Depending on which model it is and considering your pretty healthy budget you may be better served to buy an entire RC model. To my knowledge RC models have been made of the top two as a 1/10 scale touring car, trouble is these bodies will not fit the Hyper at all as it’s a 1/8 scale RC and they will be far too small. Don't have any knowledge when it comes to custom made bodies to be honest so getting a whole 1/10 scale car would probably be the easiest route and you could get one well within your budget depending on if that particular MR2 RC is still avaliable 😊 Hope that helps and if you confirm the MR2 model I’m sure between us on the forum we’ll hopefully find something 👍🏻
  6. I think this looks like a great piece of kit and as long as the $350 price translates reasonably into pounds I’ll be picking one up for sure ??
  7. Although both the TRX4's have been gathering dust of late while I spend all my spare time decorating the new house I have been doing some tinkering in the evenings with both of our defenders ? Had a delivery of new electronics for mine in the form of the tried and tested HobbyWing 1080 ESC and a Holmes Hobbies Torque Master Expert 550 21t motor which I can't wait to try out on the trails. I also geared down from an 11t pinion to a 9t to maximise torque and keep the temps down when running in high gear. A quick test in the garden has already proved how good the low down control is and the drag brake is pretty immense, struggle to move it by hand when its powered up ?? Last update to my defender was finally settling on the accessories for the roof rack. Not sure if it will all stay in place but the first run will answer that, my favourite items are the new salt, flour and fertiliser bags and the wooden crate which was a bit fiddly to put together but looks great ?? The boy has some really nice items added to his this week in the form of a new bumper which is an exact replica of bumpers available for the 1:1 defender. These parts we're actually pinched from another TRX4 I bought, this one won't be hanging around though as now its donated a few parts it'll be finding a new home hopefully with a mate. The Hella spot lights aren't functioning at the moment but still look sweet. The Warn winch is fully functioning though and the boy thinks its the best thing added to his rig so far ? The combination of the new bumper and winch means his front end now weighs a lot more than it used to, I'm concerned it may be a bit too much but we'll see. I've geared his down to a 9t pinion too to try and give the motor as much help as possible pushing all this weight around! The keen eyed amongst you might have also noticed he now has some lights fitted too, these are the Traxxas light bar and front and rear lights. They aren't cheap but I can't fault the quality of them and the install is seamless which is a big plus. Doesn't have the rock lights for now but these can be added later as the power supply unit can power the whole lot. Having seen the boys this will definitely be the next mod for my rig as they look great, even if they aren't particularly useful over the summer ? Anyways that the sum of the tinkering this week, we both really want to get these out now as its been far too long for my liking but moving and decorating the new house takes priority for now. Hopefully it won't be too long before they get a run ??
  8. Great build this and nice to see a TRX4 done different ??
  9. Loving it mate, didn’t manage to get a run in though! Joys of moving house, next weekend for sure it’s getting a run [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Officially finished my TRX4 Bronco to Defender conversion ? Details of the conversion in our TRX4 thread ??
  11. Heres the Defender all finished with new wheels fitted ? The wheels look much better than the Gmade Beadlocks which we're a bit too bling for a landy! As much as they we're a bit of a PITA to construct they certainly look the part now ? About 5 minutes after taking these pictures the postman arrived a brought some bits to finish it off too. Can't have a roof rack with nothing on it! Main plus with all these bits is they look the part without weighing too much, heaviest thing is probably the beer barrel ? The bits Niall has on his roof rack are substantially heavier so we might have a reshuffle between the two cars so we're evenly matched in terms of weight up top. One of my favourite parts are these little A Boards which make for some great little photo props ?? The postman also delivered my new bumper pictured above too, which again is the same as Niall's and not only looks good but improves the approach angle versus the stock bumper. Been a busy weekend with starting the house move but might try and sneak a little run down the beach in this afternoon ??
  12. Good stuff mate, I must have had a dodgy batch. No worries on the socket ??

    New Arrma 4S Models

I was really looking forward to these and now seriously disappointed ? So much plastic where it shouldn’t be, drive shafts, diff ring gears, entire shock construction, I could go on! Looking at the price these are going for state side you may aswell just spend a bit more and get a 6S.
  14. Always good to hear another recommendation ?? The Hypers don’t get run that often so longevity shouldn’t be a problem ?
  15. Further reduction to £30 each or £50 for the lot!
  16. Gave the hypers a good old bash at weekend ? Both performed great as always and I'm convinced my double rear brace mod has done the trick as even after some proper chassis slap landings they are both perfectly straight ?? The local council has finally finished some work near one our local bashing spots so we could finally give them a blast along some dried up river bed which makes for a great RC playground! Just have to watch out for what's left of the old wartime building foundations ? Managed to blow a rear tyre almost entirely off the rim towards the end but nothing a bit of glue won't fix. What won't be fixed is another Gens Ace 4S pack which has failed on me. Thats two that have failed now thanks to the crappy cell tabs they use which seem to snap over time, they are also impossible to solder back on so that's a total of £120 I won't be getting back ? Decided to order some cheap 6000mah Zippy 2S packs to replace it as @ostewart has had good luck with his and cost only £40 for the pair thanks to the 15% off voucher code ?? Hopefully get back down the local BMX track for the next outing as I'm moving only 5 minutes away from it this weekend ?
  17. The Bronco officially became a Defender at the weekend and I'm already convinced I made the right choice converting it over ?? The size of the Bronco body just didn't look right to my eyes and the defender looks much more scale. The cheapest route of converting was buying the short to long wheelbase conversion which was a pretty easy conversion to be honest as it only meant changing out the rear links, shock towers and a driveshaft extension, at £20 it was pretty cheap too especially for Traxxas. I did price up getting a clear body and all the other required bits and it worked out quite a lot more than getting a complete body and I could get the limited edition adventure body which I already like and it also has clear windows! an absolute must in my book. I grabbed some stock Defender bumpers for now but already ordered the same Yeah Racing front bumper as the boy as I was super impressed with his. Not running the spare wheel though both for weight saving and I just prefer it without. I also prefer the the fact the inner fenders on the Defender are built into the shell as it not only does it give the lexan some extra support but the chassis is a lot easier to work on without the chassis mounted fenders of the Bronco getting in the way. I went with the Traxxas Canyon tyres as I was pretty impressed with them when I first got the boys Defender performance wise and they fit the trucks size perfectly. Most XL tyres look a bit too big and standard 1.9s are a tad too small so made sense to stick with the Canyons. I stuck some 3mm hex extensions on so the Beadlocks cleared the front portal weights, but it widens the stance a little too much for my liking (especially as the Canyons are wider than pretty much any other 1.9 tyre available). I also don't particularly like these wheels on the Defender so I ordered some SSD steelies. First impressions are they are great looking wheels and great quality. Due to their design I don't have to run hex extensions so I can tuck the wheels back under the arches a bit more. I knew going into getting these wheels I would have a fiddly job to do though... Every scale screw needs to be removed (that's 88 in total!) and then reinstalled with a dab of blue locktite so that they don't work their way out on the trails. To make matters worse you might notice the pile of 6 sheered of screws in the picture! ? Despite my best patient efforts they sheered on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th wheel!!!!! I think they were over tightened at the factory and so when I went to reinstall them they were already weak and just gave way. Removing all the screws I had already installed to remove the sheered one was beyond frustrating and then trying to get the sheered end out with pliers nearly made me give up all together! Thankfully a short break and some deep breaths got me through it and they are thankfully all back together, thank god there's 10 spare screws included as I would have been most unimpressed otherwise. I'm going to leave mounting the tyres for another day as I don't have the patience tonight lol. Still they will look much better I reckon once their done and I'll hopefully have a delivery of loads of scale bits to put on the roof rack before the weekend ?? It won't get a run until midweek next week as I'll be busy moving but I can't wait to get back out on the trails ?
  18. RS2000 is one of my all time favourite cars and this looks spot ?? I’ve never built a shelf queen before but this may tempt me as I couldn’t run something so nice ?
  19. No problem mate ?? Id say considering the cost is only £15 each it’s worth upgrading both the front and the rear. May not be required with the double brace though as I got them before fitting the mod. Seen as the rear is busted you may aswell pay a bit extra and get the upgrades. Leave the front plastic until or if it breaks.
  20. I did try an alloy rear brace from China before doing the mod and it was worse than just one stock plastic brace! the double brace mod I done is cheaper too ??
  21. As @Jumper said I’ve done a double rear brace mod and works a treat. Bashed the crap out of it and not bent the chassis since, that’s with a chassis that’s been bent back to straight a good few times too ?? Heres some pictures of the mod which should help. All you need to do is drill two holes in the chassis (I didn’t bother countersinking the hole for the screw). Then just dremel out a slot in the top of the diff housing mount for the top of the second brace ?? Any my other questions fire away ? And in case you want evidence it works here’s a video of the beating ours took after doing the mod ? chassis still perfectly straight.
