  1. just replying now been distracted by work stuff sorry lol cheers guys
  2. don't i know it >< those fasttrax mega-v wheels and tyres look pretty decent to be fair. Might try a set myself.
  3. I don't think i'm ever going to get over this. Seriously lol. Im gutted I wimped out of making the purchase due to size worries. It's going to look even more awesome with some beefy MT style wheels and tyres.
  4. How much are you looking for guys? Interested in both. @big gaz @Baja_Crazy
  5. This has confirmed it for me, sorry to thread hijack lol. I'll be getting an AMP for my boy in a few months for his birthday. ..... I say for my boy ... Lol
  6. @Stooza What're you after for them each? And what capacity? Cheers. The link posted isn't working @big gaz
  7. As a breakdown of what I spent when breaking into the hobby not long ago too. E-Firestorm - £100 (great condition from a guy on here, came with 2x NiMH batteries and wall charger). OR ECX Amp Lipo Charger from robot Birds site - £27. 2x 2s 4000MaH Zippy Lipo Batteries - £35 (i think) from a member here. tools (turnigy long shaft hex drivers are good and a 12mm hex wrench for the wheel nuts) - <£10 ---- Most other tools tend to be found lying about the house. So you're looking around £170 to get you going well. Anything else after that are option parts. I mean Lipo's are an option upgrade really, if you're happy to go with the power the NiMH batteries provide then you're even better off. Pretty sure you would switch to Lipo off the bat though
  8. I got my e-firestorm from a member here for £100 and it was in great condition. They're definitely tough and great for starting out, with the option of upgrades at a later date (going brushless etc). I've heard good things about the ECX Amp as well. And it's less than £100 from modelsport last i checked. I was considering getting one of these so that my boy has something decent to bash as he is using one of those gearbest truggy things at the moment which is good for the money but .... very very basic.
  9. they're not as shiny cool as those lol. I only had issues with my stock ones when I switched to 1/8th scale buggy wheels. This could be due to the type of hex adaptors I was running through. Kept making them pop out. I took my stock ones apart for some tlc a little the other day and the shafts dont seem to stay in the bottom part very well. Like perhaps the threading has worn down or something which could have something to do with it. They dont pop out with the stock 12mm hex size wheels so I will be sticking with them anyway for a while.
  10. Also interested as I was looking at these just the other day. Not to mention the fact that they'd look really good too
  11. those picket st wheels and tyres look awesome. i'd go with them on the firestorm. as long as they're 12mm hex theyre grand. i think a couple of the ftx shells fit, the bugsta being one and the carnage ... i think would fit. Just have a look through and check dimensions. from what i've seen and heard, most 1/10 truggy shells can be made to fit, with some shenanigans. apparently the ese white ball ends upgrade for the blitz are great hop ups. I plan on getting some myself as my stock ends keep popping off recently.
  12. As above. Ideally no lower than 2200mah and no higher than 4000mah. No lower than 20c @ 4000 mah and no lower than 30c for 2200. Aaaanyway. Let me know what you've got PayPal waiting. @evssv Got any more mate lol
  13. Well i've just scrolled through this full build. Took a while and most of it goes over my noobie head. But i am so impressed at how this all happened lol. It amazes me that this beast is built from scratch. Epic work.
  14. will PM you regarding the tamiya.
  15. This may help... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lM7q8gGmW0 Basically goes over everything these kind gents have already explained. Several coats, allowing to dry properly between coats etc etc. Best of luck.
  16. Yea definitely. Trial and error and all that. At least i know now. Tbh the stability is still not as good as stock anyway so I may just get some standards. But at least i gave it a try lol. Gorilla taped the entire inside of the shell today, just for some extra strength. Makes a big difference for sure. For one thing, it's much nicer to handle too lol. Got a bit tricks in those back recesses and in retrospect using smaller pieces would have given a better finish, but it is what it is. And it should give it some extra strength. P.s. it certainly adds a bit of weight lol
  17. Well unfortunately i had to go back to standard wheels. The larger 1/8th buggy wheels will require more secure components like ese rod ends and perhaps some new shocks. Reverted back to standard stock wheels and it works grand. Even given full throttle to handbrake (kinda) turns. No issues. One day firestorm, one day!!! *Shakes fist*
  18. I don't know whether i can be of use here. I use an £8 iron i bought in a cheap shop and cheapie flux i found on eBay. Both have worked great for me thus far. Is There such a thing as a bad batch of flux?
  19. Is it these or a different make do you know? https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/79748/
  20. I may have to invest in some of those regardless of if i go back to stock wheels or not. I heard that once they start popping off then they pretty much do it all the time.
  21. Ah crap. Took it out for only 5 minutes and i now need to invest in upgrades. Popped the rod ends off several times. The suspension front and back on one side keeps popping off. Not sure whether it's the new brushless combined with the buggy wheels that's put it under too much strain or it was just their time. Either way .... Suggestions welcome lol.
  22. I used a lipo with my standard brushed 15t firestorm motor and ESC. Barely any heat in the motor and the esc was very cool. That was with a 4000mah 2s 30c lipo.
  23. Put it up to the 1/8th buggy wheels. Will see how it performs on these with the brushless system and geared how it is. May need to adjust depending on temps. Fingers crossed it is fine. Really want a new shell next.
