      Each of the 13 million or so that died at the hands of the Nazis deserves to be remembered. No one will ever know the true toll however. Pity that here in western Europe we tend to forget about all those that were murdered in eastern Europe.

      Stalin probably killed more Russians, Ukrainians, Latvians etc. than Hitler, and with just as much brutality. Read 'Stalin - the court of the red tsar' .... great book about a disturbing subject. The only thing Hitler got right was to recognise the threat Stalin was to the world.

       

      Mind you...Shirers 'rise and fall of the third reich' is a fascinating book that tells how all this came to be from somebody who was there when it started. The Germans made sure the death camps were not on German soil.....but they knew all about the other concentration camps.

       

      The important thing is not that people remember....but that we do not let it happen again. Our governments regularly break international laws today in the name of 'peace' and 'security' ....
