  1. Make sure you set the gear mesh nice and tight. Set it so you can just feel a tiny tiny amount of play. If its even just a bit too loose you may end up stripping it (trust me, I know :-/).
  2. I know who to ask if I ever lose any.
  3. I have some at work I think will do it, but cheers for the link. I'll keep hold of that in case I can't find anything. If you remove the shims, make sure you check the backs of the spider gears for any light burring from the manufacturing process. I just used a bit of wet and dry on a flat surface doing small circles until they felt really smooth. Its also worth checking that the composite one piece cross pin doesn't have any light burs from the moulding and that the spider gears turn nice and freely when on the shafts. You don't have to do all this as the diff will run itself in with use anyway. It just makes it perform better from the start.
  4. It is indeed a very nice buggy with some excellent design features. Apparently there is a new car in the works which I have been told to hang on for before I enter the world of 10th scale racing. Do you mean where the pivot ball screws into the lower arm? I used the plastic spacer clips but only because I didn't have any washers the correct size. The main thing one of the designers told me was not to over tighten the screws on the front and rear diff casings (the easy access panels), and also the centre diff top plate. If you over tighten them then the diffs can bind and you lose the benefit of the super silky smooth drive train. He also told me to leave the shims for the spider gears out of the centre diff as it performs better. My oils are as follows (again as recommended as a good starting point by one of the designers): Diffs: Front 7k, Center 10k, Rear 5k Shocks: Front 450cst Rear 350cst Dooo iiit!
  5. I just thought I would share some pictures of my new TD. I didn't have time to really do a nice build thread as I only got the kit on Wednesday evening and needed to have it ready for the track and testing this weekend. I have been driving an S-workz for a while now and have had some great races with it, but when I was offered a drive for Team Durango I decided it was time for a change. The kit is of a very high quality and the finish is excellent. Performance wise, even using box stock set up and with very limited run time the car drives excellently. The buggy was very compliant on the bumpy NDOR astro track, with excellent steering, and jumping straight and true. I am very pleased with the performance. I have fitted it with my Orion R8.1pro ESC, a Toro 2250kv sensorless motor and an Xpert SM-4401 brushless servo. I have another body shell on the way which I will have painted properly, then I'll just use the "one can special" for practice.
  6. Finished building it and took it to NDOR.
  7. I picked up my DEX8 last night, just in the process of building it now. I think I am going to one colour special my shell as I need to get it on track on Saturday to begin testing/setup.
  8. The reason we don't normally allow 5th scales is because they generally destroy the astro/piping with their huge weight/girth. Also I have just had confirmation that although the event is HPI focused, you can bring what ever makes along that you want. You never know, you may actually like some of the HPI stuff as well.
  9. According to the leaflet Baja's are fine. I'm not sure about taking other cars, I'll find out.
  10. Nice, sounds expensive. Put us out of our misery and tell us what it is then.
  11. Just thought I would post this here for anyone who may be interested: Meet the HPI crew, see the latest HPI cars and race with your friends when you bring your HPI car or truck to the Notts-Derby Off-Road club Enjoy a day of fun with HPI! Activities and fun races start at 10 AM, including HPI kit demonstrations, competitions for great HPI prizes and driving on the track all day! You
  12. This looks very nice AJ, I should be getting the DEX8 buggy very soon. Let me know if you don't manage to sort anything out with that missing part as I may be able to help.
  13. You need to back it with white. The colour will look really good then.
  14. what does it look like on the outside?
  15. Nice! I was at Herts on Sunday and the dirt track is awesome.
  16. I'm gonna head down to the track tonight seeing as its such a nice day and I'm off work. Probably see you later.
  17. Looking good, I painted one of my S-workz body's in a similar green and its very striking on track.
  18. Nice one, finally giving the "dark side" a try. You are more than welcome to use some of my battery's mate.
  19. Stripped it down for all new bearings/oils ready for the E-buggy nationals this Sunday.
  20. I saw one of these in flesh at Goodwood last week and it looks rather nice, even if it is a bit slow.
  21. What buggy have you bought Michael? If you are at NDOR on Saturday you are welcome to use my battery's.
  22. 5-7-3 front to rear is a good place to start. I personally run 10-7-3 which gives me slightly less steering but better drive out of the corners.
