  1. Got my first Kit car)I think the word `kit' is probably a lose term as its already prebuilt, apart from the rear wing. But thought I would do a little build thread as I can keep track of what I have done and where I take it...and most of all what I destroy...LOL So like I said this is my fist ever kit and to start with I am going to donate the guts of my TAMCO raider to give it its first lease of life..... I want this buggy for just day to day thrashing around parks, skate parks and a couple of local BMX tracks etc just for fun really. Don't think this will end up as a high speed machine, but the top end I want to give it is at least 40mph, and as I bash and break it the upgrades will come. So here is the new little one: I tell you what compared to the Truggy, its as light a feather.....and my first thoughts: 1 - Tyres a re soft and quite squishy - have to see how they hold up. 2 - Suspension is super soft think it would bottom out very easily 3 - Under the body is a tight as a ducks, so it going to be quite a squeeze to get it all in there. 4 - Think the 3S is going batter it, but its going to go off like a rocket.. 5 - Chasssis tub feels very strong 6 - Suspension mouns feel weak 7 - Back body post is also weak....its not going to take much to break that bit....LOL So what have I got to put in to it, nothing massively exciting but: 10kg TR Racing steering servo 3065KV 4 Pole BL Motor (Unbranded) Hobbywing (WP-S10E-RTR) ESC 45a/220a TR Racing Rx Other bits I currently have: 3x3000mah 7.2v NiMH 1x3200mah 3s 20C LiPO Ripmax Sigma Eq ECO 50W balance charger/discharger It came with a 17T pinion in the box for a 3.2mm shaft, but have ordered a 23T Pinion from the FTX Vantage to put on which will need drilling out for a 5mm shaft. Will take some piccies and that when I am putting it all together... ...The 23T pinion will bring it close to the gear ratio that I had with the truggy also....
  2. Works boring, especially when you have a new RC at home to play with

  3. My new Vandal..... ....first impressions are good.....not a spectacular build by any stretch and going to be a task to shoe horn it all in under that body....its a tight fit.....said the actress to the bishop..... . Although I knew that the pinion that came with it wouldn't fit my motor I have as is for a 3.7mm shaft, not 5mm....so I gave it to our mechanical workshop, who kindly drilled it out for me to 5mm (while I wait for my 23t 0.6module pinion for my motor).....and I gave it to dumb and dumber, who drilled it out by hand for me (rather then use a pillar drill) and done it wonkey... Well done......many thanks for you help.....NOT.....
  4. oh dear, just got the workshop at work to drill out the 17t pinion from 3.7mm to 5mm....and they have just drilled it wonky....they done it by hand rather than pillar drill....should have given it to the old boy, rather than dumb and dumber...... Hope the new pinion shows up soon.....
  5. A not so simple question about car setups and motor temps... My previous RC car was: Pinion Spur Ratio : 2.82:1 Diff ratio : 3.090:1 Total Ratio: 8.70818 : 1 Wheel dia. 4.1" Battery war warm, ESC cool, Motor: Hot (No hotter than my kettle gets) But would the new set up which obviously has a different gearing ratio be better for motor temps or worse...I can never understand this properly: New Car Pinion Spur Ratio : 2.83:1 Diff ratio : 2.92:1 Total Ratio: 8.25217 : 1 Wheel dia. 3.65" The new cars ratio has dropped, so I am assuming I have geared down (plus the wheels are a smaller dia. to so the motor is straining less to run the car....therefore reducing heat build up on motor???? Is that the correct assumption, or am I way off target with it?
  6. think I have sorted it with an FTX vantage 23t pinion...
  7. Hi, as the pinion on the vandal apparently has a 0.6 module, and you only get a 17t pinion gear with it.... I have just ordered the 23t pinion. Can anyone confirm that these fit a 5mm BL Shaft? Also I snapped my hex in the grub screw which is a PITA so rendered it useless anyway even if the pitch was correct....doh.....
  8. I need a 22t or 23t pinion 0.6 modul for a 5mm Brushless shaft? Any ideas?
  9. Stripped the raider down, ready for its transplant in to the Vandal.....screwed my 22t pinion up in the process so need to get another which is a PITA. But at least all the electrics are out. Posted by me ????
  10. Ok that's what I thought would happen, will avoid that situation. And stick with my current 45a combo..for a while longer. Thanks once again Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  11. when I use a 3s 3200mah 20C (Max 64amp delivery as I understand 3.2A x 20C = 64A Max) and use a motor combo that draws above that 64amps at full draw.... Does that damage the battery?
  12. Hi and welcome, I have the TAMCO Raider which I am about to retire.....but its the same thing but the Truggy Version.. I use a 3c 3200mah with the standard 3065kv & ESC (WP-S10E-RTR) that came with it...I also changed the spur from the 72t to 62t.......I must admit it goes like something off a shovel.... I do find I strip spurs quite easily and that is where the problem lies with the car.....I cannot get them for love nor money ATM....so take good care of it. I did also find the tyres weren't up to it and popped a bead of one side.....but some big air I had from some crashes may not have helped that situation...LOL....
  13. Hi, yesterday I had decided to ditch my Tamco radier as parts were a PITA...SO decided to get a Qaunam Vandal kit (which I understand is a direct copy of the Vantage). Are these an actual true clone of them i.e. all parts are interchangable Was wanting to transplant the 3065KV BL motor with 22t pinion/ESC combo, Rx, & 10kg steering servo etc from the Raider....All the speed calculators show it will not be as fast top end as the Raider is/was, but being massively lighter should get going pretty well....especially with my 3c in there.
  14. Unfortunately lightning over the weekend had stuck our office (shame)..so whilst working from home....'at lunch time'....i took the dog for a walk with the RC car and finally mullered the rear tyres..New rolling chassis on order so will now be out if order for the rest of the week. Posted by me ????
  15. All ordered, just need them to deliver it...?..took mine out and back left tyre was destroyed completely.... Posted by me ????
  16. After today's smash up.....i am going to get the Vandal..... Posted by me ????
  17. Destroyed a rear tyre, and stripped the main diff gear......In my most specular accident todate..... Posted by me ????
  18. I am lucky my dog just chases and barks at it...... Posted by me ????
  19. damn that `s' and `c' business....lol
  20. 90mm tyre dia. is a bit stingy for buggies and truggies....should be 4" IMO.... But change the following: 22t to 24t Pinion 3065kv to a 4500kv 6c battery and try and fine 50mm x 90mm on a 2.2 rim that will be tough.... and my theoretical is 131.8mph.......
  21. I think mine will come under open wheel electric class...........121.96mph......think my current truggy will disintegrate at that speed...LOL...but would be fun trying though....
  22. Why make dog walking a chore.....This way is much better and he's knackered by the third battery. Well it either this or spend 2 hours throwing ball....lol https://www.dropbox.com/s/zsjzgi0wlsw59u3/20140918_191744.mp4?dl=0 Posted by me ????
  23. Go scratch that itch....shame the nights are drawing in as by the time I get in have dinner, sort kids out it now getting to dark to venture over the park...
  24. The chap at the model shop when I brought the battery said don't rely on the LVC, as soon as you notice a decrease in speed then stop immediately and remove the battery. Don't even bother trying to drive it back to you. Good advice me thinks.....LOL
  25. Ok....now I have had a change to google and count teeth on things and measure...I think I have it. Diff ratio - 3.090 Spur - 62t Pinion - 22t Motor 3065kv Wheel 4.1" (No ballooning) with 6cell NiMH - result is 30.91....my GPS thing says 28mph (running on hard surface) 3c Lipo 3.4v - results 43.7mph,,,my GPS thing says 39.1 (running on short grass), plus the run was after 6mins of pounding the battery 3c Lipo 3.7v - results 47.65......my GPS thing is to be tested....will be intrested in what I yield in the first 5mins of full charge....????? on a hard surface Interesting, will have to play around some more.....also the new tyres I want to put on have a larger dia. just slightly..... Chewers as you made me look at that chart a lot more closely...
