  1. I think all that's really needed are the CNC suspension hangers and maybe shock towers. My plastic suspension hangers broke all the time on my HPI Buggy Flux until i upgraded them to ally, albeit only 6061 but they never broke again. Ally hangers are pretty much essential IMO but i'll see how it goes with the replacement stock ones.
  2. Yeah the rounded one, it was just slightly bent up on one side which threaded where the screw goes on that side. I looked last night and Modelsport actually have the ally CNC upgrade but i had already replaced mine with the stock part.......you can also get a 7075 chassis for it and a whole host of other upgrades. Also the other day while on the bay i seen a Hyper VS Pro 80% roller with all CNC included, i can't remember the price but it wasn't cheap. Never heard of a VS pro before!!! But they have done them with previous Hypers.
  3. With all this talk on what's better/stronger, i'm sure the stock aluminium is strong enough it was actually the front hanger on the rear diff that i ruined and it is plastic. I just mentioned the CNC upgrade as it was the only other alternative......unless i think the SS truggy uses a aluminium and plastic combo there instead of just the plastic, i just wonder if they would bolt straight on? Anyway mine is all fixed with stock parts and had it out today along with my Arrma Talion at the golf course in the blistering heat lol. All went well with no breakages from either car.
  4. Cool, nice to see you got some good wheels and tyres. I'm still trying to finish fixing mine lol, i first thought i'd bent a front shock shaft only to find i'd actually shattered a shock piston and not bent the shaft. Then i discovered i bent one of the rear shock shafts and also bent the rear/front suspension hanger which pulled one of the screws and threaded the hanger. All this came from a cartwheel that happened at full speed. These problems have now been fixed apart from the hanger which i'm still waiting on. Had a quick look for a CNC hanger but couldn't find one in the UK.
  5. Yeah it's a small box, i don't know how big the spektrum rx is but i had to put mine in sort of standing up in order to get it in there.....also the battery tray is pretty tiny.....still an awesome car though, you'll have fun.
  6. Had the VS at the golf course a couple of days ago, had great fun till i bent a front shock shaft. The first breakage so far and ive had it a year and a half.....still surprised i bent one of those.
  7. Those are the wheels from the HPI Vorza which i'm pretty sure are the same wheels albeit in a different black which came on my HPI Trophy.....They too will rub on the lower arm. There is no real way around the problem other than use the stock wheels and change the tyres or get some 17ml hex extensions.
  8. Glad to help, it is a pain i know but the end points don't have to be adjusted too much....if you look on the lower arms you might notice a little wear if its been happening a lot but it won't break anything lol. Also this was the case on the previous SS, thought they would have addressed this for the new VS but obviously not.
  9. Its the inside of the wheels hitting off the lower arm on full lock....a design flaw. The standard wheels have a slight offset to compensate for this, any other wheel i stick on doesn't have this offset and they rub on the lower arm so you adjust the end points to stop it.....i've gotten used to it.
  10. The latest Doom isn't on 360, i dont think.....i'd download the classic doom and doom 2, they're more shooters but are classics.
  11. 1/10th buggies are the smallest i use on grass and freshly cut grass at that!! Get a couple of cheap Tamiya's, build them and have some fun . I cut my grass the other day just so i could get my Tamiya Boomerang out lol.
  12. I have the Hyper VS and the Trophy flux. If i'm honest the Trophy needs a lot of upgrades and a bulkhead to bulkhead brace to be bashable in any big way. After a few years of the Trophy i got the Hyper VS roller, put my choice of electrics in and it has been a solid buggy and never broken anything. When it comes to Arrma i have the Talion and it's been awesome, only ever bent a shock shaft in the 2 years ive owned it. I know the Typhon is just as if not more durable being the buggy version. Also the Arrma's come with Hobbywing motor and ESC. Hyper VS or Arrma Typhon V3 2018 spec would be my choice.
  13. The Hornet was designed in the 80's and was very much an entry level buggy, things have moved on since then but Tamiya still sell them mainly for nostalgia. They make good stuff though for all levels of the hobby.

    Abarth 500?

lol...hopefully get some pics up soon, probably in the show us your 1:1 cars thread.... got to say, its awesome it's only the 135bhp version but it really moves especially with the sport button on lol. If the weather is nice tomorrow, i'll clean it and take some pics..
  15. Which kit was this? What plastics snapped? And if your mate can't put a Tamiya kit together easily.....maybe this isn't the hobby for him lol. I've had loads of Tamiya over the last 28 years and they're great kits. They might be slow with the stock siver can but that can be easily rectified.

    Abarth 500?

lol, its cool. I'm sure she will love it but you are also right, it's not the safest around. Especially after owning a Volvo.

    Abarth 500?

Thanks for stating the obvious....any small vehicle will do poorly against a big vehicle of the same age.

    Abarth 500?

Well the Mrs had one test drive and decided to pull the trigger and go for it despite my worries. I must say the deal we got was pretty good...3 years free servicing and MOT, 2 years warranty and 1 year tax for £170 a month. We looked at Fiestas and others at different garages but the finance companies they used offered crap deals in comparison, would have been more expensive for the same amount of cover so she went for the Abarth........here's hoping it all goes well.....should pick it up on monday.

    Abarth 500?

    Abarth 500?

The A1 are too expensive, you pay for the badge. Its for the Mrs and she doesnt want to pay more than £150 per month on a PCP plan. I could get a A1 but it would be an older one with high mileage. It has to be pretty nippy as well.

    Abarth 500?

It's a 2015 with 19,000 miles. Looks immaculate but i know the Mrs would not put up with too many problems should they arise lol.

    Abarth 500?

Alright guys, we are looking at an Abarth 500....just wondering if anyone owns or has had experience with one, i think they look awesome, go well and have reasonable running costs however they are Fiat's and that scares me. Having done over 3 years in our Volvo C30 with no issues i don't want to have a problematic Fiat lol. Any personal experience with one or advise would be greatly appreciated..... Pete.
  24. The quality was always there, the main problems with the v1 were the wing mount, ESC and the diffs needed shimming. Now the 2018 spec v3 has all these problems solved and more. They also include beefier shocks, reinforced bulkheads, beefier servo mount, better battery tray and bigger receiver box. loads of aftermarket upgrades too. I have a v1 Talion and love it.
  25. Quite right, they were a distribution company who got big then decided to buy up rc companies but had no clue how to manage them. They then went downhill getting to huge debt, so it was down to them but it was the Traxxas problem which probably was the final nail in the coffin lol.. I'm sure Arrma will survive, i would buy another as they dont break anyway even if they do there are so many aftermarket companies providing literally almost every part.
