  1. Good luck hope you get it sorted let us know how you get on.
  2. I'm sure atleast some brushed ESCs are lipo compatible not sure tho. The shop should have known yours wasn't and what they did was wrong. Perhaps you could get them to refund or do a deal on a new ESC. As I say I not sure, I went brushless first and the nimhs were getting too hot so then I changed to lipos.
  3. Run times will be longer with lipos. Not sure if the brushed ESC on those cars are lipo compatible. Are you going brushed or brushless BTW? ps I found suicideneil's tutorial on lipos very useful.
  4. Is it definitely the motor? Could be your slipper maybe.
  5. You can turn transmitter down and gradually turn it up, but watch he does'nt crank it up to full when your not looking. Having said that with the stock servo it does'nt handle great on brushless power. You could buy brushed as HB said then when your lad gets bored with it convert to brushless with lipos, this will split the cost and is what I did. Unlike some others I like my carnage, it does have it's failings but fun to upgrade and easy to work on.
  6. A tight slipper could have caused it but surely would have caused trouble before on 2s. I find I know when I've done the slipper too loose because it squeals and if I've done it too tight the car does a standing backflip (and if I carry on without loosening, the drive shaft snaps). Anything between is good for me but I admit I'm no expert. Upgrading the top plate from plastic to a carbon or ally one will stiffen the chassis and prevent flexing. Even if that didn't cause the damage this is a necessary upgrade IMO. I hope this helps.
  7. What upper plate do you have is it upgraded?
  8. Is that kinda like the world series but really only in america lol, I know this is pedantic and off topic (and as much as I hate the arrogance of the septics) but the World Series is named after the New York newspaper which originally sponsored the tournament.
  9. Not 100% sure in the vantage but FTX6543 in the carnage is the droop set grub screw for the lower arms. It doesn't hold the inner hinge pin in that should just slide out easily once the holder is removed. The outer hinge pin tho does need some firm poking to remove it, if this is the part you're trying to remove. Hope this is of some help.
  10. I had a Tamiya hornet in the 80's but being a teenager rc was lower down than my other...er...hobbies at the time. Fast forward to March 2013 I had gone a year since giving up tobacco and wanted to reward myself. My daughter had just got a toy grade rc and I found how much fun it was so I dug my old hornet out and searched the internet with a view to getting it running again. Wow, how much rc moved on in 25 years was amazing. I bought an FTX carnage for me and a maverick xt for my daughter converted both to brushless and now we have a hobby that we enjoy together. A big thanks to this forum for helping us get this far.
  11. T-bone bumpers are a popular upgrade for carnage, really should get some myself save me a few repairs. Think you need part number C101-TBR for the front, C202-TBR for the rear.
  12. Centre cups are held in with e-clips, afraid you'll have to open the diff up to remove, however you can then investigate what's going on with your diff spur. Regarding durability of the carnage yes it isn't very tough and things do break more often than other more expensive cars, but I do drive it like I stole it and all damage I've done has been my own fault. Last night I was racing with a maverick xt and a fluxed savage xl and carnage was the only car able to be driven back to house though. The xl's gearbox had turned into a glitter yogurt!
  13. Well done with the paint job looks really cool. I took the easy way out and did it all yellow but wish I'd done a more creative design like that. My daughter says your shell looks really cool too, won't tell you what she says about my paint scheme as it's a family forum. ps nice rims
  14. Got to get another one of these combos as my grandson wants to be able to keep up with us with his maverick mt. Glad they come with xt60 connectors now as I'm in the process of changing my lipos over to these. I think mine came with tamiya connectors!!
  15. That's the combo my daughter and myself have just make sure you get the programming card as my carnage just did wheelies until I turned the punch down. BTW you can do it without card but it's easier with it.
