Hi all,
Just got back into the hobby after a year out. My old 23cc Oddified engine had no oomph at all, so bought a used 26cv CY long block. It's perfect and so quick. However, I had serious problems with it flooding. Think this was either due to the 97 petrol I use or storing if on the wall, rear wheel downward. Any opinions on that?
Anyway, came across ab excellent tip for starting a flooded engine that was new to me, hopefully it helps someone else out. Sorry if this is common knowledge, but wanted to contribute something to this great forum.
Once the engine is flooded, rather than take the plug out, turn it upside down and crank the engine loads, before leaving it overnight and praying ????. I tried this and it worked at treat
Screw the low needle in all the way and pull the pull start until it fires (no choke). It might even start and run for a bit, and if you're quick with unscrewing the low needle you can get it started and running straight away. No waiting, no hassle! Someone also said you can do the same by clampin the in-bound fuel line, but I wasn't sure it wouldn't permanently crimp it.
Sorry again of this is an established trick, but it saved me loads of time, frustration and sore hands.
