  1. I have found my hyper ss truggy to be the goto truggy for general running and bashing with friends, not to shabby on a track either.
  2. Very nicely done, can't wait for bodyshell pics from you guys, and that escort shell sure is a damn good looker
  3. Just loving these detailed build threads, and you have done a brilliant job Nito. It's just personal preference on the black screws, I just like them to blend in more on my rc's. Have some other projects that I would like to finish up 1st, re re egress is my current distraction lol but at some point I will get it built up and post a couple of pics. Like you really want to sit down take my time and savour one of Tamiya's finest rc's imo.
  4. Nicely done Gary These 50cc motors with a nice pipe sound insane, and go like stink lol.
  5. Your not hanging about, nice purchase matey and hopups.
  6. So tempted to start my mountain rider kit but it's got to wait. I purchased a screw kit from here if it helps, they have stainless steel and black high tensile. Chosen black personally as I not a fan of silver screws. http://rc-schrauben.de/Screw-kit-for-the-Tamiya-Toyota-4x4-Bruiser-36RN
  7. Congrats and great build thread, just love these rigs now more than I did as a child looking at the promo Tamiya videos and literature on it. Looks like I could be the odd one out with a mountain rider
  8. Hanging on the wall I would recommend mounting some brackets so the car sits on the brackets with its chassis only. If your using hooks etc and using the suspension arms that's a lot of weight on those components.
  9. Hello and welcome back to the car side of the hobby Definitely agree on the truggy but I am biased as I do love truggies, have tried 1/8 buggies but I just don't like them personally. I would recommend a hyper ss truggy if your going down that route excellent basher and not bad at racing. Losi 8ight 3.0 truggy looks excellent, got to build mine for a brushless setup. If you fancy monster truck in 1/8 scale, a savage flux will be good at bashing and general fun. You mention petrol and badass, well a losi 5T will be the most badass. It is an excellent Largescale rc. They are imo the best 5th scale straight out of the box. You don't have to go mad on hopups, killswitch, good pipe, better steering servo, sort your diffs and suspension out and it's pretty much done. You probably will crave more power at some point and the losi will easily cope. With your list of requirements, I would be getting either a truggy or losi 5t and that decision would depend on what scale you really prefer and space to run the rc.
  10. Nice Christmas pressies and great build thread Nito. Collection of tamiya's well and truly started now matey.
  11. Not on the same scale, but I sold my 1st 5th scale 5b ss, always regretted it tbh and 2yrs later I built my ideal one. Always costs you replacing the sold rc's lol. I wouldnt part with the stuff I have collected now or built, plan is to just enjoy them, maintain them and when I retire, break open a few kits to build, vintage by then of course Gotta agree fella, a Tamiya build is one to cherish, blooming nostalgia lol.
  12. Cheers guys, always fancied one. It came from gold star stockists today, the missus found one that could be delivered in time. Jazz hobby I found the cheapest but 50/50 with dreaded customs. Slipper kit, thought it would make sense as I fancy a bit more oomph, help out the gearbox. Not sure on esc/motor combo, brushless, brushed or a specific crawler setup. Need to do some research and see what you guys are planning. Going to take my time to build it and enjoy it. Plus I have an egress to build 1st, of to sort it out now Looking forward to pics from you guys, on your builds.
  13. Nito's thread and now this had me looking at the 3 speeds again, missus has informed me that Santa has been notified lol. Tamiya Mountain Rider has arrived , can't open till Christmas my nieces advise. I have just purchased the slipper kit for it, excited is an understatement.
  14. Incredible creation from Lego, amazing. Before Rc, technic Lego was endless hours of fun, I also rate sheepo's work highly.
  15. You are not alone , I totally agree with what you say fella and what a purchase to start it off. From what I have read up the re release bruiser and mountain rider drive much better than the originals.
  16. EDS hex bits and a macallister power driver has served me very well for a number of years. It is very useful but as above I also hand tighten a lot, even beadlock screws. You can feel it pinch up, makes a lot of difference at times and saves headaches.
  17. Who can remember this lol, another one for the nostalgic fans. Always wanted one, will be built one day, want to find some bits and get the fiberlyte pavidis carbon parts.
  18. I have always preferred a 1/8 truggy to a buggy and your truggies are beautiful.
  19. Its lovely, won't be cheap but worth it to the right person.
  20. I use an Orion 1600 normally in my hobao truggy. Like to keep one extra charged up in the pit bag when out. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/batteries/rc-car-categories/9920/992025&MSAttributeID[32]=838&MSAttributeID[33]=608&MSAttributeID[52]=1486 1900 mah is a squeeze but it just about fits in, not sure if it will fit in your truggy. Diff oils and shock oils go with your manual recommendations 1st. Theres quite a selection, but I normally use team losi racing shock oils and diff oils. Yeah I use byrons 25% fuel as well.
  21. Yep looking good, love the vintage buggies.
  22. Welcome back to rc I would advise downloading the manual and stripping the car 1st. That way you get to learn parts of the car and also give it a good health check. Put fresh diff oils in diffs, and shock oil in the shocks, start with manual standards and you can then fine tune it your liking after running it. Check the engine starts properly etc, fresh fuel, new glow plug and hopefully all good to go. Have fun.
  23. Welcome back and very nice purchase, box looks massive for this kit My finger has hovered over the buy button for the mountain rider quite a few times. Definitely intrested in your brushless setup and how the bruiser copes with it. Here's one of my favourite videos for the mountain rider by matteo, just captures the spirit of the model. Right back to looking at Stella model prices, could be time to get one in lol.
