I suppose it's the same with everything really. Why spend

Actually, I am right handed and I wear my watch on my right wrist too.

I love my watches too. I got my first Rolex for my 18th birthday. Oyster Perpetual. I bought a Rolex Submariner second hand a few years later and a Breitling Navitimer at auction some time back too.. My 'daily driver' is quite a nice Citizen Titanium Radio Controlled watch (automatically sets the time itself by talking to a server). Didn't cost me too much so it's the one I use on a general day-to-day basis. I can't find my Oyster (which is somewhat annoying to say the least, nothwithstanding it was my 18th birthday present. I wonder if my parents still have it in their safe) but I took a pic of the other three.
  4. I would say that it is one of the better ones, yes. Perhaps not the best, but for the money it's pretty good. I echo the comment that it's not the car, it's the driver.
  5. Just to add a counterpoint... Although I live in Sussex, i've actually driven to their shop to buy stuff from them when I needed the part that day. I have had nothing but a good service from them in the past. Prompt delivery and good prices. On the one occasion when I needed to make a change to an order, it was done without fuss or fault. Nobody is perfect all the time unfortunately, so just chalk this up as a one off mistake and move on; there really is no need for all the hate on here, is there? It is entirely your prerogative in saying that you won't use them again and I wish you good luck in whichever supplier you decide to use in the future.
  6. I used to BMX many years ago and collect real old school 80s BMX's. I have a few good ones now too. Sadly, my age and a motorbike injury preclude me from ever doing it again
  7. Tempting but I don't want to ruin my Truggy. Anyway, i'd like to get a Baja or something like that in the not too distant future so I might come along at some point and have a look and talk to a few people to get an idea of what's what first. I haven't bothered getting a 1/5 scale before as there was really nowhere in the area that raced them, now there is, I shall have to look more closely at getting something. Research first though.
  8. it was only the plastic housing that snapped thankfully. The aerial still seemed to have the same range as it did before. I think i've temporarily fixed it by resoldering one of the leads from the throttle assembly to the mainboard inside. It seems to work now but will require a more permanent fix after tomorrow's raceday. Impetus for me to get a DX3R now I guess!
  9. There's only five now due to Unlucky there, you Italian boys in blue.
  10. In an attempt to woo Police Forces across the UK, car manufacturers often livery and spec up one of their cars as a Police car and give it to a Force to try for a period of time. In my lifetime, we have had Porsches, Ferraris, Lotuses and many other high performance cars all specced up as short term Police cars for evaluation purposes.
  11. Hi all I replaced the aerial on the DX3S I have due ot the plastic housing snapping beyond reasonable repair. Now when I switch any of my four cars on, I get steering response but the throttle servo doesn't do anything. On my RS4 for instance, it immediately moves to throttle wide open position and doesn't do anything else. I've checked insde the DX3S case to make sure all cables are connected, routed properly and not being trapped in the casing and all is fine. All I did was remove the aerial connection and attach the new one. I've rebound the controller too and that doesn't seem to help. I'm a bit baffled how this could have caused this problem to be honest and would be grateful for any help.
  12. That looks absolutely fantastic! Shame I don't have a large scale as it's just down the road from me too. I guess I could run my truggy and get completely ruined by everyone else.
  13. Anyone have the base settings for the Alpha S852 please?
  14. Have you tried Adur model Car Club? We have two tracks, one road track in Shoreham and one off-road track near Steyning. Go to www.adurrc.org for more info.
  15. EDIT: Problem solved it seems. Mod removed argument posts. I have to say that I love that 6R4 Metro. Lovely bit of kit.
  16. Adur race track (there are two, an on road and an off-road track) would cost you
  17. I've just sold my Audi S5 4.2 litre V8 and bought a rather more sensible new 3 litre twin turbo Jaguar XFS.
  18. Can't do either. 22nd I'm away with the missus and 29th is raceday at Adur off-road. Any chance we could do Monday 30th as it's a Bank Holiday? (he asked hopefully).
  19. Shocking news. Rest in Peace mate. I'm only new to the site but it is evident that he had a a lot of great info and was always willing to help others. This world is a sadder place without people like you.
  20. Thank you Cerbrus, good post. It made me sit up and take stock of the content of my post, written in dismay. I would hope the digs in your post weren't aimed at me though. I've never been into cars modified like that. Subtle performance mods are the extent of anything I have done.
  21. My first car (in the mid 80s) was a 1275 GT Mini. Completely stock looking in every way. My second car was a Lotus Sunbeam. Again, completely stock looking but could blow away many other road users. I have just sold my stock Audi S5 (365 BHP) due to the amount of idiots in their chavved up Saxos who kept trying to race me. I now have a new Jaguar XF (327BHP) with all the toys. So not only is it fast, it's got everything from TV/DVD to cooled seats in it. Lovely. I have also owned Porsche 911's and other such cars in the past too. I think www.barryboys.co.uk is a site that will appeal to quite a few people on here, although maybe not those who spent thousands of pounds 'doing up' their cars to look 'indervidjewel' but have the engine capacity and commensurate power of an asthmatic beagle. I'm all for modifying a car as long as it's done tastefully and has corresponding performance mods under the bonnet but there is nothing more comical than a 'bad boy' car that is all p*ss and vinegar. But hey, if it floats your boat, go for it. The one thing about this world is that we are all individual, and thankfully so. Wouldnt it be boring if we were all the same?
  22. I have nine of these. Mainly Skyway and Haro, and yes they are all genuine early 1980s bikes. No reproductions. I'm into my Freestyle BMXing but unfortunately due to a motorcycle injury I can't ride anymore. I should sell some of them really. Skyway T/A Haro Master Freestyler This last picture is a genuine first generation Haro Freestyler. There's not many of these about anymore, and certainly not in that good condition, the gusset on the head tube used to break from overuse. Cost well over a grand to buy the frame and forks in pristine condition now.
  23. I'd recommend a Trex 250 or an eSky Honeybee to start. If you like it, move up to a Blade 400 or Trex 450. Both excellent intermediate helicopters (although I favoured the Trex).. I adored my Trex 450, it was an excellent 6ch heli to fly.
