  1. It normally prompts you to make an account when you do the initial setup of the phone. Unfortunatley, i don't know of a work around but there are far many positives to having a google account than there are negatives. One big positive is you can sync your contacts with google so if you do have to wipe your phone. You can have ALL of your contacts back with 1 click Every time i add a new contact, it is instantly (well, when my google account re-syncs itself automatically) synced. Obviously you get an email address aswell, i use my gmail one for websites, giving to people that aren't my friends/family (ie ebay, forums etc) so it does come in handy.
  2. People seem to be missing an important point here. You, yourself have admitted that the medication is affecting your driving, do you really think that you should be driving at all after you have admitted this? I for one wouldn't want to come accross you on the road knowing you had taken a handful of pills that make your head all wobbly and you can't concentrate on driving. As said above, the driving test is the easy part. After that, you actually start to learn how to drive and things are a whole different ball park, no randomer sat next to you with some pedals ready to bail you out either!
  3. Haha, has Dave Parker told you all his boring stories yet? Just ask him a random question and he will digress for the whole lesson As 'abstract' as Dave Lawford's teaching is, listen to him, especially when it comes to calculus because he REALLY knows what he's on about When i did my apprenticeship i had John Markovych, Paul Lindley, Phil Holdsworth, Julie Bamford (huuuuuge rack!) and a few others that were so boring i can't remember lol. Sorry for going offtopic, it's not often you find someone else living a few miles from you that has the same tutors as you!
  4. Ahh, know of them but never had them myself. I had Dave Lawford, Dave Parker and Rob Fisher last year, of and some Steve guy that we did C++ with.
  5. If you had read the thread, you would of noticed that several referances to xda-developers have been mentioned, try looking on there and you will find what you need. Yes you will need to root your phone to apply themes (skinning launcher pro is TOTALLY different to theming) I'm not going to direct link you to a specific thread just because you can't be arsed looking yourself! I wouldn't be suprised if you typed into google "samsung galaxy themes", plenty of links to XDA-developers would show up.
  6. SimiClock FTW I noticed you have a battery percentage thingy, try the one called 'batt stat' from the market, it's free and imo looks neater.
  7. I dunno what people use, i'm guessing photoshop but i think some people use GIMP perfectly fine. Any image editing software will do the job, just use one that you're familiar with. Nothing to be worried about when it comes to rooting, it's a very safe process nowadays.
  8. That's probably where i've seen you then. I was doing my HNC in Mech Engineering last year up there. Which tutors do you have?
  9. For some reason i recognise you but can't picture where from, where abouts in hudds are you from? Where you do work or study/what do you study?
  10. EVERYTHING you need on rooting/ROMs etc is in this thread here. Seriously, don't start messing around with scripts, S-Off etc until you are familiar with your phone and the SDK. Scripts aren't dangerous really but will 'screw up' your phone (to a point where it runs very badly) but is easily recoverable by over writing the script. S-Off'ing is a different matter, you CAN brick your phone extremely easily and it isn't recoverable at all (ie - deleting the hboot/bootloader off the NAND partiton and being left with no bootloader...in laymans terms, you can't boot your phone!) Rooting is much easier now that it was when i did mine, i believe you can do it in a couple of clicks of the mouse now.
  11. Anyone can make icons but it's very time consuming if you want to make them for all of your apps so they all match. A lot of the MIUI devs develop icons for their themes and some of them look absolutley amazing. I'm running gingerbread (2.3) on my Desire at the moment but i keep getting the urge to go back to MIUI, i think i will once they release the new GUI
  12. Just about to send you the email with the icons, there are some icons for popular apps aswell from the market. Just long press on an icon on your home screen/toolbar thing at the bottom and a pop up will appear, just select change icon or whatever it says and choose from gallery.
  13. I don't get along with the suppressor on the AUG, just doesn't feel right. However it's a beast with a red dot! Despite most people using red dot sights and i don't know if it's just in my head but me and a few of my mates i play with have noticed there is less kick/recoil from most weapons when using the reflex sight.
  14. Make your own There are plenty of tutorials on how to make themes, fairly simple aswell but you will need a rooted phone. Just make a nandroid backup incase it doesn't work or you'll have a phone with no GUI
  15. A lot of it will be 'themed', where you have to flash modified framework. Launcher pro does have the option to choose an icon from your gallery. I have a folder with 124 icons in but they are all in the same style and only really work with a dark-ish background, they are also theme'd blue (only a bit of blue on them though) If you have a look over at www.xda-developers.com and find your phone's section, there will be a 'themes and apps' section which may contain some icon packs. If you want to create your own, you will need to root your phone and use ADB to pull the app from your phone, change the .9.png icon image, re-compile with the new icon and then push it back to the phone and hope it doesn't cause force closes (which it shouldn't if done correctly). If you want my icon pack then PM me your email address (or stick it here if you don't care about spam fritters) and i'll email you it. It's only about 1mb .

  17. I was absolutely fuming when my JP cue got stolen, we were even at the club playing snooker. We have our own mini 'mid-session' intervals, a smoke every 3 frames religously! We rack up, stick our cues on the table so people know we are playing and not to disturb the balls/table. Came back to find my cue had gone walkies. It's either some pikey ******* had swiped it knowing it was a nice cue OR, as it was a 1pc cue, someone thought it was a club cue and thought no one was playing so used it. I had a look at everyones cue in the club, on all the racks and couldn't find it. We are fairly well known at the club (regulars!) and me and the manager stood at the door for bloody ages checking everyone that left, to say the least i wasn't happy! As a good will gesture, the manager of the club did give me and my mate a years free memebership and give us a few sessions for nothing (we regularly rack up a £50 bill!) I've never tried playing snooker with a pool cue but i'd imagine you'd find it difficult to get enough purchase on the ball to generate enough spin. Also taking into account the larger tip, not sure you'll be able to get low enough on the cue ball to be able to screw back a lot if you want to (handy if you're screwing into the pack or whatnot) I learnt one hell of a lot from watching snooker on the telly. The masters is starting soon, just watch them and see how they play. They try and make it a spectator sport and really do show you close ups of how they are striking the cue ball etc. If you've only just started playing snooker, i'd just concentrate on potting balls to start with, then you can start thinking about position. If you are consistantly potting, start thinking about the next ball. Once you are capable of putting the cue ball where you want it and potting a colour from it, start thinking a few balls ahead. What i mean is, say you have a red into the yellow pocket and a red available into the middle right (from the baulk end). You can play a bit of top and play off two cushions and come round for the brown, stun the brown in the yellow pocket which should in theory leave you on the middle into the centre, from that it should be a simple natural angle shot to go down for the black (or pink if it's available and the black isn't) and hopefully there will be some more reds available down that end. Don't just go for a red if you know you can't get on a colour from it, the point isn't worth it and you could potentially leave your mate on for a decent break. You need to practise how to play safe, judging how much weight to put into the cue ball and knowing where it will end up, trying to contemplate how your mate will play from it and if he may leave you a few balls on. If you can afford to, go to the club on your own for an hour or two a few times a week and just practise. Snooker is a very complicated game/sport and practise and patience is the key. Practise doesn't make perfect, nobody is perfect but practise will certainly make you better. Also, try not to get to frustrated if you aren't sinking any balls or stringing a few together, just practise more until you can A good practise is the line-up, youtube it to see how it's done. Anyhow, black ops is calling so i'll be back on later if you have any more ques! (no pun intended )
  18. It all depends on how much you want to pay. My John Parris cue was stolen (from the snooker club i must add!) and i have reverted back to my very first cue i bought from JJB years ago. The JP was a handmade jobby, 1pc 58" with a 30.5mm butt, 18.5 oz with a 9mm tip. The difference between one of them and a run of the mill sports shop cue is unbeleivable. I'd say, rather than spending anywhere from £30-£80 on a cue from a sports shop, use the club cues. Try and find a decent, true one by rolling it on the table to see if it 'wobbles' as it rolls, see if it has a decent tip etc etc. Once you know that you like the game (you may find that you get bored very easily, it can be a slow game) and save up a bit and buy a nice handmade cue. Doesn't have to be brand new, my JP cue was new and cost me £310 but they can be bought 2nd hand for £200 (they hold their value) but you can get some VERY nice cues indeed 2nd hand. Just take a look on some of the snooker forums. As for sanding your tip to help the chalk stick, never heard that. We use a little plastic doofer with loads of pins on, don't use it very often, maybe every 4-6 weeks. Cues get re-tipped around 6 months or so. Decent cues to look at are mastercue (not to be mistaken for mastercraft cues), cuecraft, john parris. On saying that, Riley make some very nice cues. My 'snooker buddy' (very best of friends for 15 years, we've been playing snooker weekly for 7!) uses a Riley cue, it's a John Higgins rep iirc. Oh and if you do end up getting your own cue, make sure it has the option for you to screw in a mini butt or an extension. You WILL use a small (6-8") extension atleast 1 or 2 times a frame. If you don't, you will find yourself having to use the really long cue and rest (or as me and my mate call them, the wobblers because they wobble everywhere! lol) One thing to remember is, form is far more important than a cue. If your form is off then event he most expensive cue in the world won't make you play any better. Also, try and stick to the same cue, nothing worse than swapping between cues every week as they will never be the same.
  19. There is also the fact that parcel force can't pay the custom fees without your consent first. What happens is, the parcel arrives into customs and VAT etc is applied to it, PF then pay this FOR YOU and then request the money from you obviously. Unless the law has changed very recently, they CANNOT, i repeat CANNOT, pay this fee and then request the money back from you without your consent prior to doing so. I believe RM are 'excempt' from this basically because they are a royal service (unless they have been privatised recently) and actually work for her majesty the queen. In other words, they can do whatever they bloody well want to do
  20. My sisters 30% staff discount at gamestation :D She gets 30% on all things pre-owned (even consoles) and 20% (or 25%) on all new items.
  21. Well i picked it up this afternoon and i'm bored already! Obviously i'm going to give it a bit longer yet but i can't see it keeping me interested like black ops or forza does. Only paid
  22. Had my desire over 6 months now, not had any problems with it rebooting (apart from flashing corrupt software but that's my fault, not theirs). Mine was on t-mobile (bought from ebay, brand new) but was unlocked straight away.
  23. Well the remap had to be cancelled as this happened on the 23rd heading down to Cornwall Was travelling down the M5 (just after taunton services, southbound if anyone knows it). The tyre blew out (not sure how yet, it's not punctured it, just ripped it off the bead) and put me into a spin hitting the armco on the central reservation, fotunately the pile of snow next to the armco took the brunt of the impact but it's still going to be costly. Looking on ebay, it's cheaper (and easier) to source the type r body kit (front and rear splitters, skirts and arches) so i'll be doing that instead of replacing them with like for like Go back to work on the 4th so aslong as it's done by then i'll be fine. http://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=76368 http://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=76367 http://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=76366 http://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=76365 http://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=76364 Can't be bothered to re-upload so just copy and paste the links
  24. Not an ep, but i drive an FK3 (new shape 2.2 diesel for those that don't know). More or less standard at the moment apart from the -15mm eibachs with the FRS setup (ABP are brilliant!). It's booked in for a remap on friday at celtic tuning, 200hp and 316lb/ft I plan on getting the type r front and rear splitters, skirts and arches and colour coding them! Wouldn't mind a full leather interior but it's so much money for what you get in return. I admit, the EP's are better than the FN/FK's but i much prefer the look of the of the newer civics.
  25. I was going from the other side of uni (pritchatts road or something). Although we did go to the gun barrel pub accross the road from the fire station for a beer at lunch time I was warned not to head down the road with the firestation on, loads of road works so makes it even worse than normal!
