As Mr T said earlier in the thread, no-one is likely to be "qualified" to give career advice, - absolutely right, probably not! However, there are a number of us who have been in your position (not exact possibly) and have done something about it.
I'll give you my story....
I'm 31 (nearly 32 ) I currently work in IT as a contractor in technical departments in a large financial company in Edinburgh. I got here by a strange route.
I had good GCSE grades in my home town of Nottingham, went on and did my A levels with relative success but completely lacked interest.... so I left and joined Natwest bank as a mortgages clerk. 2 years down the line I vowed never to work in a financial institute again in my life!
I started a job in a Bar as a barman, worked in 4 in all and worked my way to assistant manager, I enjoyed it but the money was bearly enough to cover my bills when I moved out of home! I met my now wife...
My wife told me to get a "proper" job so I could see her in the evening, so I started as a Recruitment Consultant for a small Agancy in Nottm, it was a great job, but the money was pretty poor still, around
