  4. Hi WHEN? 16th to 18th of September 2016 WHERE? Shakespeare Raceway, Warwickshire CV37 8LL Following the fun from last year we have the opportunity to have a MSUK/ROSSA big meetup and camping weekend. The details are pretty much exactly the same as last year. So much of what you see below will mirror the last event About the venue The ROSSA site is huge and offers a wide variety of surfaces from a bit of dirt to grass, areas that would be fun for crawlers and even TARMAC (for you drifter and on road fans) Its an ideal location for flyers too Where is this site I hear you ask ............ its about a 15 minute drive from Stratford upon Avon (google map linky) Just to give you an idea of the layout for the event: Please note this may be subject to change and I'm not sure how old the satellite image is lol What is going to be happening at the event? -Confirmed- ROSSA 2016 Speed UK Championship This is the annual ROSSA Championship where people compete to be the fastest as well as try there best to make new records in each of the classes avaliable. There are a selection of classes that range from off the shelf RC chassis and hophups to full mod custom creations. The fastest car of the championship receives the honor of the ROSSA shield and the bragging rights that come along with it. The sheild is held untill the next championship. Vehicles entered into the championship must strictly follow one of the classes listed here. Please also take note of the rules and regulations listed at the bottom of the page linked if you are taking part in the ROSSA UK championship. I will be running the Black Knight Rocket car again. Last time out I managed 210.11mph.
  5. IC Speed Car Running is a lot harder than electric. You need to fully understand the motors, clutch, gearing etc... to be able to get a car up to any sort of speed. Best of luck with the new build Cheers
  6. looks like you will be ready for the event. Lets hope you break the 140mph! Cheers
  7. It was entered as a trike to the to FIM rules not because the classes didnt allow non wheel driven cars but because FIA rules are for 4 wheeled cars and FIM is for up to 3 wheels. As a trike it got 407mph. Later it was changed to 4 wheels and as a 4 wheeled car later got 625mph to FIA rules. It was the last car to break the land speed record at Bonneville salt flats. The outright land speed record can come from either FIA or FIM rules
  8. Talk to Stu about the peak amps. The logging on the MGM isnt accurate. My gears from Neil were expensive and poor quality. The bore wasnt accurate and I had to turn down the shafts to get them to fit. Best to get HPC, machine them how you want and get them hardened. Cheers
  9. This doesnt look like a car either
  10. It is if you dont chop it Cheers
  11. The rules state you need to use a stock chassis for the 8O8 class Cheers
  12. Hi Thought I would share this with you guys. I managed 210.11 with the rocket car Cheers
  13. Dont try to run the car around with the high speed gearing it will destroy the clutch. Change it over to low speed until you are ready to do speed runs then only use the high speed gears when running in a straight line Cheers
  14. Me and Stu are collaborating on certain cars. Its best if the team members are in the same location
  15. Are the gears hardened? If not I can cut them down to 6mm or less so they fit on the clutch bell. Let me know if you want them done Cheers
  16. Money no object? Get the Futapa 4PKS-Super R. Or for max range get the Taranis Frsky with EZuhf module at 459 mhz for 20km range. I have adapted my Futaba 3PK and fitted the EZuhf module to it. Now I have 459 mhz range and wheel steering! Cheers
  17. Get the castle XLX. The Max5 needs a separate programming card and I'm still not convinced about the max revs. I think it starts cutting power above 30,000 rpm Cheers
  18. I contacted the organisers and they are interested in holding an RC speed event next year. If I get more info I'll post it here Cheers
  19. You were right the first time, its an MRX4. Mine is a Motonica Electron RS3. I have converted mine to a speed car with 8S and trying to find the largest motor that will fit. The problem is the belt to the front, it restricts the length of the motor. Best way is to move the motor mount over and extend the layshaft The lola shells for thee cars are not the best for speed runs as they are designed for huge drag at 60-70mph. The rear wing or body flip up is designed to keep the car in a straight line. You can cut it off but that moves all the drag to the front so the car will flip or spin at high speed. I had to make a special body for it below T The other body is an Edam Maclaren. This is also OK if you dont want to build your own shell. You can mod it by cutting off the cockpit and covering the hole with lexan. The custom aero body is carbon fibre and weighs the same as the lexan one with the undertray The other mod is to cut the front wheels in half. At full width the car is too unstable. You will want to use a decent ESC. I'm using the castle XLX. It will need to be capable of 200 amps continuous. with 8S the car will weigh about 4KG and it will take 200 amps to accelerate this car to 150mph. Pinions wise you will need something like 28/40, 30/38 or even 32/36. For the tyres use UFRA from Switzerland. These are the only ones that dont chunk If you need any help let me know
  20. Almost all threaded pinions and clutch bells use a 12mm 0.5 pitch thread. You can buy the taps online and also the gears. Just drill out to 11.5 mm and thread the gears http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUGEN-SEIKI-RC-PRIME-12-THREADED-CLUTCH-BELL-K0241-NIP-/121792378689 Cheers
  21. there is no limit to the size of pinions you can use. this is 36T
