  1. Sounds like a pretty rough time you're having one way or another bud... It'd be handy if people weren't so ignorant about what are thought of as "recreational drugs", and the other uses they have, which can be incredibly helpful to those with certain conditions. The reality of your situation is that the bedtime smoke enables you to live a much happier/safer life, and the next morning the levels of the drug left in your bloodstream won't have any effect on your ability to drive.. Where's the issue..?
  2. Oh dear... The time has come for me to leave the Flux club unfortunately I've only managed to test my truck a couple of times since building it, then only for a few seconds, so it's on its way to the for sales section in pieces... Seems like the rest of life has well and truly taken over. What with work, studies and organising an art/fundraising project, the RC thing doesn't get a look in anymore and hasn't really for ages, so I'm calling it a day. If anyone does fancy anything from the truck, gimme a shout, otherwise continue the good work and happy Fluxing!!
  3. Not really...! Saves a few grams, but don't think it makes any noticeable difference strength wise.
  4. One of the SH .28's would be a good bet for the engine, well under budget, leaving you some money for a decent pipe like the HPI tuned aluminium one. Here's a link- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RACING-S30-SH-28-NITRO-ENGINE-MOTOR-RC-1-8-Car-Buggy-/220873928092?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item336d1cad9c#ht_2657wt_1110 Servo wise, I'd look for a decent second hand Ace DS1015, should be 35 quid (ish). Obviously a new one would be favourite though! Very strong and reliable What alloy parts does it have? If they're unnecessary/rubbish ones, I'd replace them with stock plastic bits..
  5. That's an HPI shell though... The Topkick and F650 from Proline do fit on the XL, but both look pretty awkward IMO.
  6. The part number for the BP gears is HPI 102692.. You can buy them in the uk for
  7. Why, oh why, oh why don't Proline start making some shells for the XL..? HPI's offerings disintegrate in no time, and in this case look absolutely gash with it...
  8. The Ace servo horns are actually some of the best plastic ones I've encountered, nice and strong, not brittle like I've found Savox horns to be in the past. Like Daz suggests though, a decent alloy one like Answer makes would be much better. There's a load here- http://www.apexmodels.com/gbu0-catshow/answer-AluminiumServoHorns.html
  9. There's plenty of places on ebay, but all from the States (shouldn't take much longer than 10-14 days to arrive) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=ace+ds+1015&_sacat=See-All-Categories You could try contacting the Servo Shop, as they suply a massive range of servo related kit http://www.servoshop.co.uk/index.php What exactly do you need from the kit though? If it's specifically the horn, then there are loads of alternatives out there which would fit and do the same job, if not better. Anything with 25 splines will fit.
  10. Eh..? Does that mean- you think it costs too much? Personally I think the price is pretty much what you'd expect for what you're getting, but that's a whole other can of worms....
  11. I think the Revo's "bigger brother", the Summit, is probably one of the most sophisticated, with the locking diffs which you control from the transmitter. I don't reckon either of them are exactly the pinnacle of engineering in other ways though, especially the build of certain bits, which have always struck me as being pretty weak compared to the competition..
  12. It should be fine for the Savage.. Have you had a browse through the ones that MS has to offer? They state exactly which models they'll fit on the left-hand side of the screen If you're looking for something streamlined, then the Proline Slipstream is about the best one out there, usual Proline durability too. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/pro-line-slipstream-bodyshell/rc-car-products/35959
  13. This projects got me quite excited!! Looks fantastic so far, great build Got me looking at some other things on the net after watching this- Then following the link to here- http://rc-foff.net/s....php?board=33.0 Seems like there's quite a big RC Formula Offroad scene out there. The forum isn't the easiest thing to understand, unless you speak Finish, but there's some great builds on there, might be worth a look through.
  14. You could get Rick at SPI to custom build you some wheels. When I asked him about doing a single set of the ones we ended up getting a bulk order of he said they'd be $120, as I remember, so you'd be looking at quite alot of money.. They are nice though! EDIT- reading your post again it doesn't look like you want to get either new wheels or tires, so maybe ignore that...
  15. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/125710-mcd-racing-w5-sct-truck/ I'd say probably yes
  16. Motor, clamps, straps and spur gear sold pending payment. Anyone else for the other bits..?
  17. I don't think there's any serious issues with the K5.9, but they've not got the best reputation it seems.. If you've got a few quid more and can wait until xmas, then you could get an LRP ZR.30 imported from the States for
  18. Looks like it might be the same size as a 1/10 SCT from the pics, so same wheelbase as a 1/8 buggy maybe? I really like the look of it
  19. If you do that you'll lower the truck a bit, but make the ride much softer and risk the bottom spring retainer coming off, which ain't ideal.
  20. Is the JConcepts shell still looking tidy/unscratched..? Could well be interested
  21. Easiest way would be to get some fuel line, or better still some bump stops (which will last indefinitely, where fuel line tends to dissolve quite quickly) and put them inside the shocks, on the shafts, below the pistons. You have to take the shocks apart to do the job, but it's not hard. Here's a link for the bump stops for the BB shocks, each one will lower the ride height by about 10mm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HPI-SAVAGE-FLUX-2350-RUBBER-BUMP-STOP-4PCS-/310329213726?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item484110031e If you can find any knackered shocks from the older 8 shock savvy's, they're actually better, being longer and thinner. Maybe put up an add in the wanted section and see if anyone has some going..? If you do this mod, you might want to take some of the spacers out at the top of the shocks, as it will shorten the travel and stiffen the ride up. Hope that helps
