  1. Got myself a Yokomo Yz4 during the week - bit pricy but oh so nice. Too nice in fact because after just one meeting with it I seem to have got a Yz2 to go with it.

Lovely. My last Yoke was the plastic fantastic mk1 Bmax but this is more like an Xray. I love that pretty much the whole back end - even some gearbox parts - are common between the two so spares will be easier.

I'm gonna sell my 2 Durango 410's and let my son have my very blinged up 210.

Some big spend you feeling ok? I'm sure the B Max you loved :)

  2. My Carisma GT24b arrived today. I'll post a full review later, but for now I will say if you are after one get a 2S lipo for it. Performance on the stock 1S is very underwhelming but on 2S its a little tiny beast!

Very much looking forward to a nice review done!

  3. You know you have an RC problem when you update your 'cars owned' profile and the site tells you the list is too long....

      Problem????????

  4. Manta Ray now ready running an 8.5t brushless for vintage racing, Wheely King now waterproofed and the Blizzard has an uprated servo so it might actually turn now....

  5. Fitted my Blizzard with the Heavy Metal tracks. Stupid money, rare as hens teeth but really transforms the Blizzard, especially if its brushless. Banned from the house due to the noise though....

I was after avoiding losing the tracks when turning. On the rockery and patio they are less effective as to be expected and LOUD!

    3. johninderby

      johninderby

Yes I'd imagine they would be better or softer surfaces such as grass and dirt and of course snow. Never had the tracks come off mine and I have fitted new motors.

    4. Si Coe

      Si Coe

By motors I guess you've got an SR with 2 380's? Mines an EV with a single 540, which in my case is a 7.5t Etronix Phaser brushless motor hence the tracks coming off. Its a lot quicker than stock!

  6. Accidentally bought a vintage Manta Ray on Ebay, no idea why its not like I ever really wanted one.....

everybody could look at it as they went past.

  7. Got my Turnigy TZ4 today. Pretty nippy stock brushed, bit disappointing brushless though. Its faster, but mine doesn't have reverse (not sure if it should) and on a 1/28th thats more important than a little extra speed.

    1. Si Coe

      Si Coe

Especially as it isn't even THAT fast. Brushless its far faster than a Mini-Z sized model should go, but thats probably only really 25mph....

  8. Quit my job today. I've got a contract to the 1st of Sept, so that about 100 days to sort something new out. The countdown begins.

  9. All kinds of trouble with the wife. She went for a nap and instead of finishing the rockery/water feature I've been using it as a crawler course for the Wheelie King and the Blizzard.

In your defence, water feature wouldn't have been finished if you'd gone for a nap as well!

Its an old pond we are filling in because of the kids. Apparently instead of making it safe I'm encouraging them to play with it. I mean its full of rubble so you can't drown in there, its just not pretty yet!

Well then, in the interests of equality give her a shovel!

  10. I've fitted lipos to my two lads boats (Tamco MB01 and Joysway Magic Vee). OMG! I've forgotten how much quicker than NiMH's they are....

  12. Thinking of getting a Nikko Nano Vaporizer for my youngest - any good? (for a Nikko that is!)

  13. Why do people keep claiming everything is a rip off? Our RC's are based on REAL vehicles, so 2 companies basing models on the same real one are going to look similar. Its not a copy, just the same inspiration

I think OHO has it spot on they are all clones and not "copies" but more often than not people probably use the term copy but meaning clone

  14. Do I want a new Blizzard EV? Its my favorite of my RC's, but spares are a pain to find, so when a NIB one appears on Ebay I'm tempted. But should I click for a model I technically already have?

That's why I sold it due to lack of parts. There's a forum just for them and they know all the best places to get parts from.

Brushless will cause problems with the Blizard. I replaced the stock 370s with Tamiya's Tuned 380's which doubled the speed but hasn't broken anything so far. Also proper ESCs make a big difference. At the right price I'd buy the EV though.

  15. Building up my Cobra 4210. Don't want to dismantle my beautiful 210 so I've got another on the way as a donor car. My 410 has been dismantled for parts though, so I'll need another one later.

most things are. when I cracked the screen on my nexus7 making it unusable I put it under the taps it it didn't break it(anymore).

So are the 27mhz radios by Schumacher I had puddles in the sticks the car was swimming but totally fine. I didn't care at the time but was surprised none of the elecs sufferd. It was raining so hard my face was numb one of the only times I sat out under something instead of going home.

  17. Just had a great evening at the lake, me with my new Centurion and my eldest lad with his MB01 haivng some Father-Son RC time. He prefers boats to cars though....

  18. This morning I have mostly been towing the kids round the lounge using my Blizzard. Grips a little low on the polished floor but I'm working on that!

10.5t brushless, 29t pinion, 2S lipo and its quite stupidly quick for a tracked vehicle already. I'm going to have a lap or two with it at racing tomorrow for giggles....

    3. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

Tape a Stanley-knife blade to each tread...will massively improve grip on wooden floors ;)

  19. I've just been using my Mini Trophy to pull my 3 year old around on my 1 year old's Mickey Mouse car. Hilarious, and surprisingly quick too. Will try to film it tomorrow....

  20. One evening of peace and quiet and now I have all 5 RC's up and running with new lipos and KO recievers in them all. Just need one more evening without a billion things to do and I'll be able to get my RC boat running brushless too....

  21. Got a DEX410 to go with my DEX210. Durangos are great and so cheap its unreal. The 410 is a bit of a handful but at that price I couldn't say no....

    1. Si Coe

      Si Coe

I won't be pimping it up like my 210 though. Its just my indoors and wet weather car for when 2wds just don't cut it.

      The Dark Knight

Nice one, which version did you get the V3 or RV3?

    3. Si Coe

      Si Coe

RV3. Its not a new one, but it belongs to a club member, its been used some 4-5 times, has some important alloy upgrades and cost

  22. I'm running my first really major race meeting on the 2nd of June. 91 entrants so far, 120 max, prizes totalling a grand, thousands raised for charity and race control software has decided to throw a wobbly!

  23. Family day out at Southport. Watched the 1/10th nationals, went swimming, played on the beach, bashed the Mini Trophy in the sand - this is the life!

  24. Got a chance to race at a national but its 4wd when I only have a 2wd and my MRT transponder won't work on the Nationals RC4 timing system. Gutted.

    1. The Dark Knight

      The Dark Knight

Sorry to hear, wish I could yo out! Will no-one at your local club lend you a buggy?

    2. Si Coe

Think I can borrow a B44 but the owner of that runs an MRT transponder too so still need one of them!

My stock thunder tiger phoenix had bearings. And as said comes with great radio gear and an ace rc servo still going strong after 2 years
