  1. hi all, I'm thinking of buying a new rc for bashing I've got a budget of around 300 but would need to get some battery's aswell although I could stretch a bit further if it was worth it. just wondering what people recommend? really I have 2 options, re build my maverick strada Xb into a evo chassis or get something different any help would be much appreciated thanks dan
  2. hi been a while since ive been on here, recently got given a ho bao pirate mt sport got it running okay but on the 2nd outing one of the front cvds broke. i was wondering if anyone can tell me if i can get the shaft seperate or wether i need to get the complete cvd kit heres the kit http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ho-bao-new-large-axle-cvd-driveshafts/rc-car-products/19854 as far as i know they fit a few other hobao models so hopefully somebody can help much appreciated dan
  3. hi i am reedays mate i think i can answer some of your questions. there is no way that a 2 layer carbon kevlar shell would weigh 500g it would be way less. he is making carbon fibre subaru roof skins that only weigh less than 4kg they are about 5mm thick in the middle. at a guess it would be about 100-200g at the most

  5. hi what kind of a budget do you have? for me there are 2 options cheaply a 1/8 ezrun system 150a http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Xerun-150A-RC-Truck-ESC-4274-SL-Brushless-Motor-1-8_W0QQitemZ200425575436QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2eaa4b940c or alternitavely the expensive option is a castle creations mmm not sure on kv. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=32310 both are excellent systems obviously the mmm will be better but i'm not sure its
  6. as above the instruction manual doesn't tell me and my mate has changed the needle settings (he is new to the hobby and bought a kit form rc) the engine has never been run any help would be much appreciated
  7. i just use standard gears for the xb i get them from wheelspinmodels cheapest place posted
  8. yeah its the 8.5t 60a. i made the cover out of some bits of plastic gluegunned together i have to completely re glue it everytime i need to change the gears but i have got quite efficient at it now. you will find that the gears are situated right where all the dirt/dust gathers its a bit of a bad design really. another mod i have done to combat this is fit a mastersmaker shell as it hugs the chassis tightly then i have put velcro securing the shell to the chassis.
  9. i have a strada xb with the same system in mine if fully upgraded and yes they are very fast and has supprisingly good handling they don't come with bearings all round (none in the hubs) the diffs have lasted over 50hours of run time and are still in as good condition as when i got it (over a year ago now) although the diff cases, drive cups, drive shafts, spur and pinion, have to be replaced now and again. and the shock towers are made out of cheese. yes the ezrun combo will fit in the mt. it only strips gears if you leave the spur/pinion uncovered (i have made a cover for them) obviously they will go eventually as they are plastic/brass it runs cool if you gear it right i run 20 tooth pinion 64 tooth spur. that works good for me
  10. http://www.vapextech..._Batteries.html scroll down the page they do deals if you buy 3 and its free postage also a couple of quid cheaper if you get them direct from vapextech there will be a big increase in performance if those are your best packs
  11. i have a maverick strada xb its practically the same as the mt i would advise the upgraded shock towers froor over a year nom nitrotek the bug crusher is the same as the mt i think here is a link to the shock towers http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/products.php?cat=138 as for power i would get a ezrun brushless system of ebay and either some stick packs from vapextech or some 2 or 3 cell lipo's. the xb can handle the power very well so i would think the mt will aswell mine has been abused for over a year now with minimal breakages
  12. yeah sounds good. i have recently made my buggy far too fast to control with the help of some 3s lipo's so am gonna have to make it handle well again. we now have a 1/8 nitro monster truck, 2 1/10 buggys, a 1/10 nitro truggy, and this 1/18 beast to come and er a boat to convert to brushless
  13. ah cheers mate i knew i'd seen it on here. don't suppose you can do me a link to what i need for the diffs.
  14. hi i have just ordered a used rc18t of ebay it needs a bit of work so i am sure i'll be asking some more questions soon. link to car http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320443292022&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D320443292022%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 i seem to remember seeing this on here a while ago. i reckon it has some potential
  15. ahh right. have you changed any other suspension settings? have you given it any more ride height
  16. its becaue your ball joints on the hubs are set wrong you will have to screw the balls in more. i wouldn't run it like that it will more than likely ruin you drive cups and shafts
  17. i have a strada xb it can take the power better than all my mates buggys (durga, df-03, master smacker) i run a ezrun 8.5t on 3 cell lipo, i have hopped it up a bit. i have owned it for just over a year now and i take it out almost every weekend and go through 10-15 batterys on a day out. i do huge jumps and generally give it lots of abuse. the grand total for repairs over the whole time is about
