Car Headunit, can I bridge the rear speaker outputs?

As per the title really, the model of the headunit is a Sony mdx-c6500r.

I want to run a sub off the rear speaker outputs so is it ok to bridge them?

No idea mate,read the manual,or find it on the net.

Be an expensive mistake if the answer is no.

Apperently not possible unless the sub is 8ohm, which most car subs arent.

Im just going to wire in this active sub iv bought, a bit more hassle because as il have to remove it a few months down the line but it will sound so much better.

why not use the aux out puts to a amp in the boot? run a power cable from the battery to the amp then run the sub off the amp?

buy a simple amp wireing kit for £20

Yes thats what you normally do, and thats what I will be doing with the active sub.

Obviously in the original question I wasnt using an amp.

DO u know what impedance the head unit can handle ? What impedance the speakers are ?

Other option would be a crossover, though have no idea how they would fair with ur active sub.

The question is do we know to much about this ! When i had my first car, I just bridged the speaker and it caused no problem to the old Panasonic head unit in it......now i think impedance !

it'd sound crap tbh. 40 watts rms just isnt enough to run a sub. Actives are only cheap now, 200-ish Wrms for £100 is cheap, very cheap. Which active did you go for? A vibe enclosure?

Yeah bought a Vibe CBR10 for £60. Nice and neat being active and impressive bass...much better then buying some 6x9's imo.

Think il go for Vibe's Exact 8 for my MG.
